  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So now that we got the big stuff mostly under control - STILL can't get mirrors to properly fold most of the time - I would like to find a place to put my iPhone 5 in a leather case.

I don't think a windshield mount will work both as for me it would be difficult to reach and because it would be a total pain to place and remove the iPhone in its case over and over and over ...

MAYBE a clip-on for a vent ...

Problem is that the ONLY two flat areas near the seat on which one could place a holder are the covers over the cupholders and the plug/usb area but since they fold back, not so much!

And I certainly don't want to use a glue or something to mount a holder on the leather or wood of the console and a suction-type mount either won't work or will leave marks.

Thus the ONLY alternative I've found so far is the Proclip mount and holder:

I'm not sure even these will fit my case but moreover it's a relatively expensive setup.

Any other suggestions for holders, mounts or places to put the iPhone.

Thanks Alley

I use this one in the forward cup holder:

The joints allow me to position and tilt the phone forward enough so it doesn't interfere with the rear cupholder - but you are sacrificing the larger cup holder. I only mount it as I like to run Waze when driving and want to see the screen at a glance (since the Waze voice funtion is too buggy to rely on) - otherwise, I keep it hidden in the front compartment with the sliding cover.

What are you wanting to do with the phone while in the car? I think knowing that might help with making suggestions. It would be nice to have an ETA on Carplay, then we might be able to suggest just waiting and having functions moved to the nav screen and putting the phone in the center console.

Wow! First of all Nikgen: Other than the fact that I LIVE for coffee - it's my hobby - that is a BRILLIANT thing. THANK YOU!!!! I will absolutely look into this. That's terrific, particularly since I can pull it out and in and it places phone where you can't forget it, love it!!

And you're spot on: it's definitely mostly for Waze that I want to see it and need to have to touch it. I gather I'm NOT the only one who finds that once Waze is running with NO input the microphone keeps annoyingly popping up? (Not a big text while driving-er in case anyone gets concerned.)

Does it fit nice and tight in the cupholder?

And Italiabrain good point: if carplay would let me add Waze ... but on the other hand I do like the Nav and perfer to have both in play ... I'll have to think about what it is I DO grab phone for while driving ... or stopping rather.

I've been very happy with my windshielf mount. I leave the case on, and the charger works fine thru it.

There are many car mounts I have used, compared vent mount, dashboard mount and windshield mount, I prefer dashboard mount. The 360 degree design adjust my phone or other device until can clearly fit the screen. aLLreLi car mount is I'm using now. It's useful and flexible.
