  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The standard audio system has a one disc CD player. it was my understanding that I could download the CD's to the hard drive, but nothing in the manual or on the screen discusses this or offers instructions.

Can this actually be done?

To my knowledge, you can't copy a factory CD to the hard drive because the head unit doesn't support "ripping" CDs. If you have a CD with mp3 files on it, it would probably copy them just fine, since it is only a file copy operation. I have not tried that myself, as I used a flash drive to copy my music instead via the USB port.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
My last 2 cars, Infiniti M37X and Audi A6 both allowed downloading CD's onto the hard drive, so I just assumed that the Genesis offered the same feature.

No luck here either. Not possible from everything I have researched and tried. Going to copy mine onto a USB flash drive.

So wait, you can't go directly from CD to drive via the car, but is there any limitation with ripping the CD to MP3s and then copying it over to the HD? That does seem like a bit of an oversight. In Texas, CDs that are kept in the car have a tendency to melt sometimes. Not all the time, but I would imagine most Texas residents have at some point lost a CD to a summer interior.

Exactly so sir.

What you describe is called "ripping."
