If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Smart Key Card

Re: Smart Key Linking

Thanks for the replies! Glad to be part of the forum and a new Genesis owner. My past Infiniti and Acura could do this so I was hoping the Genesis can also. At least there is enough other tech in this car to keep me occupied!

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

It's been 2 months since I've gotten the smart key card for the Genensis and I love having the "key" in my wallet to free up pockets. But I just discovered that when they programmed the smart key card they also inadvertently up programmed the key fob I didn't take in to the dealership. Apparently when they programmed the new key card they changed something and updated the car and the key fob I brought in. So next time I'm at the dealership I'll bring in all three key to make sure they all work.

So for anyone looking to add a key card, make sure you leave them both existing key fobs when you get the key card programmed.

Nice to know it. Thanks!!

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

Anytime you add a keyfob, you must reset all keyfobs.

My stopped work as well, so I have one working key fob and one card. Don't exactly remember where , it might be at dealership, or at the manual , it's says that one owner is allowed to have 2 key fobs or one card and one key fob programmed. I think it's done on purpose ,disabling your other key fob , and also as we are not supposed to have the cards , they might disable the key fob as well

Nope. Check the posts on THIS THREAD around Nov. 1 or 7 I think: TWO keys PLUS a fob, NOT two total. Shows print from manual.

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

A total of 3 devices can be programmed. Any combination of FOBs and key cards.

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

Alright I received mine and am going to try and get it programmed this weekend, and thanks to the advice in this thread I'll be taking in the FOBs that came with the car as well as the card FOB. Here's a question; I usually lock my doors with the FOB which retracts the side mirrors. If I use the button on the door handle to lock the doors, do the mirrors retract?

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

Nevermind I tried it and locking the door from the door handle does retract the mirrors.

Critical learning: if you lock the car either A) from your fob; or B) from the button on the OUTSIDE of the driver's door it will properly lock car, close mirrors and prime trunk so it's ready to open automatically when you walk behind the car with the fob.

HOWEVER, if you lock the door via THE BUTTON ON THE DOOR INSIDE THE CAR it will NOT prime the car. It will lock the car but it won't close the mirrors and prime the trunk to open when you walk behind it.

Trust me. There's a whole thread where the wonderful people here made me realize why my car was acting "oddly." Give you a hint: it wasn't, I just had to RTFM in DETAIL. ;)

I didn't know that; that's great info, thank you!

Also make sure that the mirror adjustment switch inside where you adjust the mirrors , is on either left or right mirror positioning , if you leave it on middle, the mirrors won't fold when you lock the car.

Not sure that is true because I deselected the mirrors to shut off the tilt part not the fold part. When in reverse they tilt down and it was bothering me in all the snow. They are still folding for me on lock/unlock.

I might be mistaken, but there is one button if you press it, the mirrors won't fold if you lock the door.
Let me check, I am intrigued :)

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

I got my FOB programmed today. I took all three FOBs to make sure they all worked afterwards. My dealer also had the problem some others had and couldn't cut the key because it wouldn't fit in their machine, but please note that the key had to be in the FOB for it to program correctly (they tried it with the key portion missing and it didn't seem to take). Now all three FOBs work and I'm happy! They charged me $45 and were super cool about being willing to try it (I was their first person). I told them I'd be back with the KDM lights when they arrive.

One thing they told me about the 2015 Genesis when they were changing my oil (which I also had done today) is that for them to change the oil they have to remove like 14 screws to remove the underbody cover.

Re: Gensis Smart Key Card

In another thread, Alwaysforward was kind enough to post a link to a site that sold RFID protective devices, and based on that I ended up buying a couple of things from them.

The first thing I bought was one of their RFID wallets, which I can tell you absolutely works, because when my Genesis card FOB is in the wallet, my car doesn't recognize it :D. I have to take the FOB out of the wallet to unlock the car and the trunk, and sometimes to start the car (sometimes starting will work with it in the wallet, sometimes not). Which brings me to my next point.

Because of how effective the wallets are, it's somewhat inconvenient and clumsy to have to stop outside your car door and pull your card FOB out (and it's been raining continuously where I live for what seems like forever- relative to normal Texas winters where we get a lot of sunny, 60-70 degree days, this winter has been brutal). In any case, I also ordered their RFID sleeves which individually protect your cards which I now use with a regular wallet.

yes your correct on the screws.the bottom is completely covered like my GTR..I went to the local valvoline place for the oil change (the oil filter for the veracruz is a direct fit) Took an hr and most of it was the screws
