  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dynomax VT Mufflers Installed

Well, I couldn't take it anymore, I ordered the 17155s for my RSPEC, and hopefully they will be going on Friday! :)

I am curious to hear about your results...depending on what you say will help me decide if i should invest for my 2014 5.0.

Well this is what has happen when I installed the VT on my R spec.

I had the shop removed the stock mufflers and stock pipe so that it would be very easy to re-install the stock system at any time. This meant no cutting or welding. They also advised that it would be of no benefit to replace the stock X pipe, as it has good flow.

The next test was the noise level[wife test] and it passed and have had no comment on noise level. The main reason for this, is that there is only a small noise level over stock. If you known there a different noise level you can heard it, specially as the car down shifts when slowing down for an intersection.

The one thing for sure it did was help the performance off the line, little to none shifting delays that we all bitch about in our drive by wire set up. 1st to 2nd shift is great, also looking for a new victim to try it out.

Was it worth in investment of over $400.00. The that is still be considered. The way I had it installed was more expensive as they had too make new pipe.

Sorry no sound bite at this time, waiting for better weather.

Took the plunge and finally ordered the Dynomax VT 17156

There is this video of a 3.8 with Magnaflow exhaust. Could be a nice comparison video when the Dynamax VT video is uploaded.

Great video. Thanks for taking the time and effort. On WOT sounds amazing. Otherwise sounds like a postal mail carrier Grumman delivery vehicle. [emoji17] matter of opinion, get that. This is why I want to lobby folks to get upset at .gov for forcing turbo wheezing sputtering engines to replace V8s. The "CO2 pollution" standards and rigged mileage tests skews things where car makers path of least resistance is to dump NA V8s to meet "standards"

I heard a rumor... Might want to check your local regional zone rep. No more V8 Gennys for rest of year due to CAFE overages by Hyundai. Only V6. When I asked, was told rest of "calendar year".... Thank you tyrants in DC.... Let's see if others will confirm this.

You have a nice ride....

Sounds for the 4.6 sound like the 4.6 Twin cam (SVT) Mustang. In the Cobra or Mach One. It should. Since some of the patents on the modular V8 features are rumored to have been licensed from Ford...

Now I am getting interested in VT or others. Especially since they will pass wife test. And no freeway drone.

Has anybody tried to install an exhaust cut-out? I saw on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2a0vjHyUCE and it sounded pretty nice. What do you guys think about it?

There are a few existing threads on exhaust cut outs so its been done a few times. Feel free to comment in those threads to add to any exhaust cutout related discussions.

I finally installed my MSA test pipes in my existing Dynomax VT setup today and it's noticeably louder and more aggressive. It just started raining so I didn't have a chance to mash the throttle but based on what I'v heard so far it should be great.

I've had a chance to drive around today and the car sounds great! Noticeably louder than the VT's by themselves but still no drone at cruising rpm's! I'm very happy with the results.

^ Are you only doing the VT's? If so, post a before and after video as I have been toying with this for years...also, what was the cost?

Nope, I have this cat-back system installed in mine
(http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/displayapplications.asp?partnumber=16497).

I don't know why it took me so long to take the plunge for the VTs. I briefly put it under my car and it looks like an easy job. I was a bit hesitant because the OP stated that his exhaust guy is an "artist".

The only downside I have is how visible the mufflers are when mounted angled against the trunk. I guess I'll have to paint them black which is a bit of a pain when everything is mounted. Anyone know if I can do it with a brush rather than spray paint to avoid overspray?

My Magnaflow ones are showing as well at an angle (will take pictures tomorrow when it's bright) and I didn't mind as I've never really noticed them. However, i think I'll be painting the mufflers black before I install them because painting sounds fun.

You could probably use brush on brake caliper paint. That stuff is super high temp.
