That is not what I suggested. Go to the NHTSA website and file an online complaint with the US government. It takes just a few minutes. There would have been no recall without others filling complaints there, so now it is your turn (or your father's turn).I'll write NHTSA a letter as soon as I get some free-time. Hopefully, they replace for free without me having to write them a certified letter,etc.
The other suggestion is to contact HMA directly by phone or mail about your recall claim and get a case number. HMA is the ultimate party in determining whether it is covered under the recall, but your dealer is incented to have it not covered, so if they come back and say no, the go directly to HMA.
