If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. What's your zipcode? When I put mine in, all I see is $1,000 valued owner and $1,000 conquest. Odd.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'm assuming your zip code is a Boulder zip code so I used one from there and the $1500 came up for your zipcode. When I put mine in, I only get a $1000 "competitive owner coupon offer."

I need to call some dealerships and see what they're offering exactly. If it's one thing I hate about all the Hyundai dealerships that I call, it's that they're all doing something different when it comes to incentives. Some are doing the whole last 3 payments of your current lease paid for deal, while others that I talked to were not. Some have the conquest cash listed while others do not. It's all a giant shitshow.

Toyota is notoriously regional when it comes to incentives and money factors so maybe Hyundai is following their footsteps although I believe all the Hyundai numbers are national...

These incentives are coming from the manufacturer so just tell the dealer that you know all the incentives that you qualify for. It is not up to dealer's discretion to give you these incentives and you shouldn't even negotiate on incentives...

I'm not negotiating off of incentives but they are significant enough to not ignore. I qualify for $3500 worth of rebates. That is a not insignificant amount of incentives. It's just annoying when some dealers are showing some things and others are not.

And if you don't believe that incentives are important, I strongly disagree. I was looking at '14 CTS V-Sports as a possible replacement for my R-Spec. At the time, '14s could be had for right around 50k. Once the '15s came around, Cadillac drastically cut back on the incentives and priced me out of my budget. So if you're insinuating that incentives are not priority, you are wrong.

Our family had an 09 and a 2012 TL SH-AWD, and I loved those cars. Looking to get a Genesis now, and wanted to ask what your thoughts are in comparison?

I absolutely loved my 09 TL and I also had the previous model (I think it was an '04) and loved that one too. The TL is a great car and the ride was great and when I bought the '09/tech package it was at the top of it's game. I was hesitant and wasn't considering the Genesis at all, instead I was considering the new TLX, but after driving the TLX and seeing how small it was compared to my TL, and how unresponsive that new transmission was IMO, I decided that wasn't for me.

I began researching the Genesis because I knew nothing about it, read reviews, watched youtube videos and finally went to the dealer to test drive. I originally drove the V6 and thought that power/pick up was outstanding and I pretty much settled on that one. However, someone suggested that I drive the V8 and after that I was completely sold. The V8 was for me!! The car is so smooth, the handling is wonderful, the technology in the vehicle is outstanding and the acceleration truly puts you in the back of your seat! I can truly say that I don't miss my TL AT ALL!! No regrets on trading it in and picking up my new ride. Go drive it, continue reading about it and then go pick one up!

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, I am saying rebates should be non-negotiable. Every dealer has to give you all the manufacturer rebates that you qualify for, period. I wouldn't lease a Genesis myself if Hyundai didn't give a total of $4000 in rebates...

This is not all true. One thing that people who do not work in the industry in some fashion do not know (I work at a bank and know very well how car dealerships work because several finance their dealer floor plan through us) is car dealerships do not expect to make a lot of money from profit margins based on sale price compared to invoice of new cars...This is part of the system and is misleading and a farce. Sure, this is 'technically' what the books say the dealerships get the cars for, but what most people do not know is the dealerships get significant kickbacks from the manufacturer for moving product as quickly as possible, and believe me they make plenty of money by selling a new car even if it below invoice. Every car they sell, even if they sell it below invoice, they make money by kickbacks from the manufacturer. That is how a dealer floor plan works. They also get a percentage of the interest when you finance a car...Most people don't realize this. Finally, they really make their money from the service department and parts. This is really what keeps dealerships profitable and they know it. It's all about moving as much product and keeping you coming back to them for service and parts.

Finally, when talking about trade-ins and it being a rip off, you are completely omitting the fact that you do not have to pay any sales tax on your trade in, which you otherwise would. If you are like me and traded a car valued at $8,000+, this is a significant savings. You take this and the fact that you don't have to worry about any of the hassle of a private sell or liability (the person who buys your car suing you if something goes wrong), trading in is not always a bad thing.

I apologize if this post comes across harshly, most people do not know how car dealerships really work and how they make money, and I just want to clarify how it does in reality

I don't know what I said which you don't agree with? I understand finance and floor planning but the bottom line is if you re-read my post we are saying the same thing. Invoice is the new retail and dealers make money on holdbacks, getting money off the retail isn't necessarily the prize anymore.

I disagree though on the trade scenario although the value of time and energy is in the eyes of the beholder. Look, if you sell the car privately you make more money regardless of the tax savings if you trade in most cases. The dealer's give you wholesale, that's the way it works and by the way, wholesale is often black book or auction, if they are pulling up KBB's website and going with that number then your experience is vastly different than what I have experienced in 20 years worth of negotiations on 8+ cars. It's funny how everything is a hassle when it comes to the trade but in order to get these wonderful $10,000+ discounts as supposedly reported, there seems to be alot of calling around and effort. Again, it's all in how you want to divide up the time investment in the whole process but true bragging about not leaving a dollar on the table starts with disposing of the trade above wholesale :)

One other thing that everyone buying a used car should also consider....Car dealerships get the overwhelming majority of their used car inventory from auctions, and they always get these cars at bargain basement prices well below the kbb value of the car...Yet they use deceiving tactics when selling by using the kbb value as the baseline of the cars worth. If you know this going into a car purchase, you can pretty much prevent yourself from getting ripped off.

Agreed!

Car auctions are used by dealers both ways - to get rid of a traded car that will not move or will not sell well on their lot or to fill their used car lot. Auction cars are not consumers cars - there are assumed costs for the auction and the dealer then has to recondition and in many cases certify the car for at least 30 days. Auction pricing gives a floor price in a used car - it is the lowest price a dealer can get a car or the price they can get to dump one. That means the gap between that price and KBB trade-in is where the money is made or lost unless it is sold by the dealer.

That difference between auction prices and KBB trade-in however is sometimes slim to none based on auction reports.

Current Example: a 2012 Genesis R-Spec with 40K miles in VG condition.
KBB trade-in: $24,169
Auction avg: $24,500 (Manheim)

Another Example: a 2010 Honda Accord sedan EX -72K miles in VG condition
KBB trade-in: $9,772
Auction avg: $10,850 (Manheim)

This is absolutely the way it works. In my area, if you have a trade they pull up Manheim and work off that number, Edmunds and KBB is irrelevant. Dealers may give you the higher side of the auction numbers but you are robbing Peter to pay Paul in most cases. The business model just doesn't allow trading for anything higher than wholesale in the car business unless they can make it up on the other end so if you are getting a "good" trade, you are leaving something on the table on the purchase.

Do you know if this conquest discount be combined with the Hyundai Circle discount?

Well the disclaimer says: "Offer cannot be combined with Valued Owner Coupon. Offer good for 2015 Hyundai Genesis lease only." Nothing about Hyundai Circle discount...

The incentives can be combined with HC pricing. The incentives themselves may have restrictions on combining them.

Wow, that's awesome. Is there a coupon or document one needs to print out and bring in or is that something you just discuss while making your deal in person?

For which? For incentives, it is on the Hyundai web site, pretty clearly spelled out - no coupons required. If you have access to HC pricing, it also documents exactly how that works and what is needed to initiate the process.

How are you qualifying for $4000?

Anyone in the Southwest, preferably Texas, getting the $1500 conquest cash by chance? Also, have you all been getting the $1500 lease cash as well?

I ask because Hyundai is showing only a $1000 competitive vehicle offer and nothing about a $1500 lease cash offer.
