Take it to PMs, guys. Nobody out here wants to see this pissing contest anymore.
Since you put it this way yes you are beneath me and I only say it cause your intelligent level must be low since a trust fund baby would buy a much more expensive car than an M3 or M5. Now go tell your boy friend how badly you beat an M3 I mean 328 on the highway lol. Now don't got breaking your computer or Hyundai being all pissed and all 😜 your too easy to pick on.
I can easily see how DRS could have beat that M4 in a street race, no matter what the stats have to say about it. No matter the power a car has the one intangible is the nut behind the wheel, no other place is that more noticeable then in a street race. Was the M4 driver in the wrong gear? Did he forget to set his car into the proper mode? Was he not as committed to the race? With out hearing from the other driver we really do not know, but what we do know is that DRS has no reason to lie about beating a M4, what happened to the other car who knows, but we do know that DRS was committed and won.
I have seen this happen many times, once in a series of races I beat a 2000 Camaro SS (320 HP) with my old daily driver '88 Camaro with a 190 hp TBI 305. Impossible right? Not at all, the guy in the SS really sucked at launching his car, he never hit a good light and he had tire spin through half the track, he was coming on very strong at the end of the 1/8th and would have killed me on a full 1/4 mile, but he could never beat me on the 1/8th due to driver error.
On the same track I also raced a Super Comp Dragster, in fact I held the track record for both time and speed that was never beaten by the time the track was shut down (4.92 @ 131). One day a buddy of mine brought out his Nostalgia Top Fuel Funny Car and there was some talk about how the track record was going to fall. But at the end of the day my record still stood, now that is totally impossible right? His Funny Car would not hook and on his 3 passes he basically did nice smoky burnouts for a full 1/8th mile.
thanks for the support.. Before the trolls came in, caused by someone (sound of me coughing like John Belushi at Dean Wormer in Animal House) who has ID here, (and different one over at the BMW forum) placing a post about my comment, all was quiet.. All I stated is what happened.. As I mentioned multiple time, I was shocked. I know this would not be repeatable. Yet because of his UPS/milk truck on steroids sound, wailing, he was not idling along. I have to thank a "spy", great guy, who connected the dots back to the BMW forum post. The "harmless" sounding question over there, goaded trolls to rise up, load up and start their urban drive by word shooting over here..
All good... If they were not so drive by word guns blazing, all parties could joke about it, if they were so interested, and I would wholly acknowledge their superior speed.... like your personal history above... Also, your reference about the top fuel not doing to well... There are rumors of a SRT Hellcat losing to different cars on the road that no way it should.. Something about breaking traction breaking down at all speeds up to 100mph. Stability control kicking in, tires smoking, while the others beat him/her by a nose. It saw a drag race park video of a Hellcat overheating his tires, and losing to someone he should not have. As you said, things happen. In my experience, who knows. I was not in the other car.
I still am guessing he may have also been down on power. I was outside the car finishing up filling the tank. I thought I heard him coming up the street before the turn, from stop light to stop light, doing full throttle launches. It was at a time not much traffic. I do not think he was racing anyone but himself coming off the line each time. That is why I mentioned the the "heat soak".. each time he waited at the lights, and especially for the long left turn signal, his under hood temps had to grow from the motor and glowing turbos, and also the water temp in the intercooler I suspect spiked. That can cause HP loss from several reasons (CPU adjustment to protect motor, hotter boosted air in the combustion chamber). Anyway, do not know this was a factor.. The M fans made fun of that suggestion like there has never been such a condition. Geez... Well ok.. It does exist as an issue with most turbos that can reduce power. Hell, the Vaunted Tesla P85D, over long stretches will reduce power because the batteries heat up. I have seen this with a biz associate who has one.. He was showing off while I was in the car.. Over extended runs from light to light, then bursts on the interstate, it got slower (not slow, still uber fast) as time went.. I showed him the battery temp.. It kicked in a save the battery power reduce mode until they cooled. He showed me a video a few days later with a P85D on the Autobahn doing multiple burst runs. And getting slower each time.. Your point, and I am agreeing, many factors could have caused the almost tie. As I mentioned in the threads, I only was ahead by a fender and pulling ever so slightly..
One more thing.. All their comments bring up a couple of lessons... 1.) "It is all about weight stupid". The vaunted sputtering milk truck on steroids I6 produces say 50 HP more (let's assume theirs is under rated, and ours has over rated public specs), and flat massive torque (ours is close, but not flat across the RPM band), their claims of 17 car length defeats they make may not be ludicrous. And the quarter mile published specs between first gen and their latest M4, they clearly lead and pulling away.. Why is this? Weight... The first gen Genny is between 400-500 lbs heavier... 2.) as mush as I hate to admit it, flat large turbo torque band also helps.. The second gen Ultimate is almost 1000lbs more than the M4. The M4 is not a dinky sized car.. It should weigh less as it is smaller..yet, BMW has figured out how to reduce weight, make it uber strong chassis, still have all the features, and the I6 with all the plumbing is no lightweight.. Hyundai should learn how to take 5-600 lbs out of the Genny. It will still be a larger luxury car than urban legends.. Get that... But would be nice to have the weight off.

Look, I'm loathe to do this and have never registered to a forum for a car I don't own. I figured I would try to clear some things up and maybe offer a bit of an olive branch.
You keep bringing up heat soak. We have a ton of members that have done actual racing (not street racing, which I personally hate because it is dangerous and proves nothing). We all know what heat soak is. The previous gen M3 suffered from this and that was an N/A V8 as you know. BMW recognized this and took serious steps to prevent that from happening on these cars. Many of us have tracked these cars (including me) and we can tell you from experience that BMW got it right this time. It rarely happens and it definitely isn't going to happen just doing some stoplight pulls. You can believe me if you want, but it isn't helping your cause when you keep repeating false info.
Second, lets all dial it a back a bit as we are all car guys/gals and this is supposed to be fun. Just because an M 3/4 can beat a Genesis doesn't mean it is a bad car. Hell our beloved M 3/4s are getting smoked by the new MB C63 & C 63S. That thing has a monster sweet TT V8. Doesn't mean the M3/4 is a bad car or that I personally like my car any less. I love all different kinds of cars and respect what different brands can and have done. Hell, you guys stole Herr Biermann from BMW so it will be very interesting to see what he comes up with in the new N line of performance cars. I'm excited to see what they can do and love competition as it pushes all brands to make better cars.
Lets all enjoy what we have, calm down a bit and enjoy some good natured ribbing that car guys/gals like to do.
If you are curious about a crappy car, just youtube the drag race between an RCF and the M4. Then we can all band together and pick on Lexus for making a huge bloated supposed performance coupe.I kid I kid.
Oh, and "real racing" as you do, heat soak I am talking about (little or no air movement to sweep away heat) is different.. When you are at dangerous track day (dangerous to you and others... Which I do not have a problem with wild M3 driving by slower Miatas.. Cooking food is dangerous), you will have air flow. And those heat extraction features will work. Again, you are the expert, heat soak is off the table.
As you can see, I take issue with your blanket statements on "street racing".
Well this thread became a shit storm awfully quickly. DRS, I've tried to play nice ever since we had our initial spats, but your words and silly name calling just seem to bring out the ire of people.
Urban e-thug trolls?
Crush them like the Soviet Union?
Playing the class warfare card even though no one at all mentioned anything to that effect? That makes you sound like the one who's a bit insecure.
Wtf, man? It's a bit embarrassing. You need to just calm down a bit when people disagree with you and ease off on your Don King word-smithing approach to insults. You're like the laughing stock of that 8-page thread over on the BMW forum. It reflects badly on this community, imo.
Blah blah blah... Just shut up.. You done pillow pounding and whining? They all came in here, after making up crap in the gangs own mind in that 8 page waste of time over at the BMW land of oz... You played nice? Sure you did.. Not..
Carluver above👆 seems to be making conversation and seeking to settle this down.. Junk yard dog here has eaten too much gun powder again today. The salt peter makes him angry and limp..Please settle down... Thank you..
Do not blame me.. Someone else went over from this space and made a post that incited that 8 page riot.. Wake up.
It won't stop at 8 pages, trust methey're all butthurt ...typical for bimmer owners, especially ///M's. I've been watching that for over 12 years, nothing new to me

Get that.. This last attack comment was from some conformist in our own ranks.. Like Obama apologist speeches around the world apologizing for our evil. And attacking us within.. Figures...
Carluver and others, are making effort to wind this up and be friends? Yet "Big Z" within our ranks wants to pour gas on the embers again.. So it goes..
12 years of consistency. Well now "big Z", you still want to trash talk your own, run around the world and apologize for my or others behavior in defense of lunacy? Think you might be in the wrong camp.

I quoted myself just to prove my point.
