Do you prefer the pre-2015 Genesis?

My bad. Missed that last post on the first page. Yeah, pre-face lift Gen 1 was weaksauce . Let's turn this into a three faction debate!!

First time I saw an Equus on the road, I thought......."Hey, another Genesis"

I'm sure that the Gen2 is nice, but it reminds me of the new Sonata.

The best looking first generation Genesis is the Prada edition. I love those quad LED headlights and that awesome interior. I wish they brought that model to the U.S. with the R-spec package. I understand that model only went to the Middle East and Korea.

Good idea..l but then, since Honda copied the pre 2012 Genny back end for the current Accord model, one could then say the gen two would look too much like a Accord.

Was having a bit of fun at the expense of those who all about the Sonata similarity (which has some merit). If the rear end of the first gen was designed into the second gen, Honda fan pundits would make the claim They were copied...

I prefer the old style, but the new cars overall handling is better. I noticed also that very little discounting is being done on the new car----- probably better for maintaining value. Thanks

I prefer the old look.
I resembles a MB-350 and its timeless design.

That said:

- I definitely accept the new look. Used to have an issue with the front grill but I "adapted" to it.

- Everything else computed Gen2 is a far better car than the already great G1.

In summary: I love G1 and probably will migrate to G2 when time comes.

Besides style: price and warranty are great pros. (was in G1 and even better in G2 2016)

I agree that he G1 is a timeless and classic design. There is a reason the S550, 745 and even 535 are not getting short and tall...its the timeless design of low and long that prevails in the luxury department.

Case in point...buick. Enough said

The Gen1 looks like a cross between a MB E350 and a Lexus 450/460. The Gen2 looks like a cross between a Ford Fusion and a Chrysler 300. This is supposed to be an improvement?

Might as well chime in as well, I dislike the new look, I agree with amartz looks like a ford and chrysler love/hate child.

I love the older Sedans and Coupes, too. All of these cars are derivatives, as are cars from the other makers, so get over that point. The Coupes were near copies of the Infinity G37 Coupe, which made a lot of G37 guys angry when ours appeared at half the price. The Sedan definitely followed the look of Mercedes at the time, but had an exotic otherness to it, a "hidden gem".

You Sedan guys are going through now what we went through in 13 with the head-scratching uglification and Velosterization of the Coupe. The new Sedan is beautiful in its own way, but compared to the sleek older model looks like a truck with that butch grille. I drove one and it was so lumbering and heavy an experience it reminded me why I own a sporty Coupe. So, if I were in the market for a Sedan, I would look for a used pre-15 R-Spec.

As an enthusiast, I'm troubled that HK seems to be making so many wrong moves after coming on the scene so strongly with the first generations of our Genesis cars.

Have you guys seen the Audi Q5 commercials where their tagline is that the Q5 sticks out in a sea of crossovers that look almost exactly the same?

Audi, I hate to break it to you, but your crossover looks like it's taken from the same mold as the the Lexus RX, which is the most generic crossover ever made. Almost every modern crossover derives a portion of its lines from this mold too.

I miss the look of my 2012 but really, really like the interior of my 2015. I just loved the way that the 2012 looked and get a pang of guilt whenever I see a silver 2012 go by. I have only had the 2015 for about a month but I don't think it will ever be as much of a head turner as the 2012 was. There was just something about that car.....!!
