  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dynomax VT Mufflers Installed

Wow.. Cool about the lights. Jealous. I have been reconsidering my 2012. With the 2015, been thinking Ridgid collars, polyurethane sway bar bushings, and exhaust. Love the total sleeper mode it has now...total quiet fast.. But more I hear the V8 with set up like you have, sounds too cool.. Since I have the 2015, will still have a quiet ride. Although much slower. Might spruce up the 2012 for fun. Thanks for the input.

Yeah I would enjoy your 2015 till you really get the itch for exhaust, took me a year and a half ^^

Though with these mufflers you really dont have to worry about driveability. Also adding an x pipe makes the car sound super exotic farther enhancing that "What is that!" effect haha.

Also how does your 2015 compare with your 2012?

Get that!

Nice... As you know, I am vocal bout sounds.. Normally not into loud 4s. Yours sounds very good.. Much different than a 2.0 VW, or rice rocket.

Thanks bud! I was definitely looking to avoid a weed wacker or buzzing sound.

I like the "weed whacked" as a image for some of the 5" faux pipe splayed wheels tuners. Can I use that? :)

Sure.

guys what's the definite answer on the model number for the Dynomax for the 5.0 rspec?

I have two for sale in the parts forum.... with P/N listed

From what I read the 17155 fits the oem exhaust, you are currently selling the 17156 correct?

Both will fit. The 17155 is a 2.25" inlet/outlet. The 17156 is 2.5". But yes I run the 17156 because I also use the MSA cat deletes & X-pipe which is 2.5" but, any exhaust shop can adjust for a quarter of an inch in difference.

So what tips are people going with? I'm not a huge fan of the ovals out back on the earlier models, looking for more of a corsica double barrel. Anyone have it on their car and know what part number it is?

I'm not that educated on exhaust, but I've read a lot about it.

I got the 5.0, has anyone done 3'? The bigger the louder right? I might end up doing 2.5.

Keeping stock 2.25 might be too quiet. I want more rumble, but not mustang loud. So 2.5 might be perfect?

Just keep in mind that with a naturally aspirated engine bigger does not always equal better with respect to exhaust. The goal is maximum exhaust velocity which doesn't increase in a linear fashion with piping diameter and actually goes down once you cross a certain threshold.

As he says there are a lot of factors in which to go with, 3" would be pretty good if the engine was modded, 2.5 is a great size for a basically stock engine. it really depends on the volume of exhaust larger displacement, and turbo cars, need larger piping because there is much more volume of air moved.

So keeping stock piping or even bumping up to 2.5 would be perfect?

Would be better just to keep stock piping, but I just want to make sure there's a noticeable difference, and not just, "oh it's just a tad louder than stock" lol

The largest difference in volume will come from the type of muffler used and secondary cat deletes (if you do them). I'm running OEM 2.25" piping with my 4.6 but have my secondary cats deleted and Dynomax VT mufflers installed. With just the Dynomax VT's the car was noticeably louder and with the cat deletes, louder still to a point that I'm happy with. The VT's are fairly conservative mufflers compared to Borla or some other types. With your 5.0 I would go 2.5" at most and a set of Borla's for a loud but well tuned noise or VT's for a more conservative sound. The VT's are only slightly louder than stock while cruising or docile driving but wake up when you get into the throttle (still quieter than a Borla setup though, I have some videos posted on Youtube).

Link? Thanks for that info man
