Proximity Sensor not working on Driver side

Hello Tech Gurus
I have 09 Gene for the last 2 years and am very happy with it, mostly.
Recently, the driver side button to unlock/lock the doors stopped working. I have tried with both the fobs with same result. However, the passenger side button works perfectly.
So, I have concluded:
1. The batteries in the remotes are fine.
2. The door mechanism is fine as i can unlock/lock using the buttons on the fob.
3. The passenger side is working apparently.

The button does not have any visible damage on it. Since the car is out of warranty now, the dealer is asking for $ 109 just for diagnosing the problem.
Can someone shed some light on it?

That's going to be a tough one for us neophytes to diagnose..These cars are so complex with it's electronics and mechanics. The problem is probably with the receiver antenna for the door locks I just downloaded a service manual for my 2015 and I can't do anything but change filters, oil and wipers
on this car. Best let the dealer fix it

You would be much better off in the Gen1 section of this forum as I do not think there are too many Gen1 owners here in the Gen 2 section.

I didn't even realize i was posting under Gen 2 Section.
i will try to find the correct forum then.
Just another quick question, I have noticed that my radio is very static when I am on AM band, but otherwise, the speakers are great with FM or any other source. Is there an option to reset the antenna or programming?
