If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone done this to their Genny sedan? I am looking at a suede dashboard cover (black) because the glare on my charcoal vinyl dash is just too overwhelming. I searched the forums on here and did not find anything. Called dealership and they said they have never seen a Hyundai with dash covers.

Found this site didn't know if anyone had any suggestions/real life experience with dash covers that can be custom fitted and look good:. Their Mercedes one looks nice

I had one in my old A4. They definitely kill the glare. But it drove me nuts every single day. They never fit quite perfect and are blatantly obviously just a cover.
But for the dollar they will definitely work.
Of you have the means to you can have it upholstered. A good automotive upholstery shop could pull the whole dash out. And cover it. Though it'd be a solid 1000$ or more

Was there some kind of vinyl cleaner/restorer that was used on the dash that made it shinny? If so, not sure how to get it off, but might worth finding out if it can be removed.

Walmart sells dark black bath and hand towels that could be used occasionally for a long drive into the sun. Sometimes I get a bad reflection from the lip of the hood (near the wipers) and I throw a small black towel up there when that happens (fortunately not that often).

The glare is the worst between 10:30 am and 2pm...must be the way the sun's angle is hitting the dash and the way it hits my eyes/windshield. The vinyl/leather cleaner I use does not leave a shine and I have not applied it in a year (McGuire's black spray bottle). Unfortunately, I have recently had an accident to my head and think my sensitivity to light has been magnified. I already have light colored eyes and wear sunglasses that are supposed to take care of UV and glare...but I continue to wince. That Mercedes pic looks like a good fit so I am just going to buy it. Would be great if I could tint the windshield but that is illegal :rolleyes:

Still really enjoying this car though!

You could put AIR 80 tint film on your windshield and on one would notice. It definitely reduces UV, but not sure how much glare would be reduced.

Good idea..will see if my tint guy will do this? Is it legal? He tinted my other side and rear windows to max allowable limit and he put 5% tint strip at the top of windshield but said he could not do anything else on the windshield.

Also, my dash is dark brown, not charcoal...don't like the color selection on that site I linked earlier...so will keep looking around

It's possible that your tint guy does not have AIR 80. It might be technically illegal, but I don't think anyone can see it. AIR 80 is a Llumar film. There may some equivalents from other tint film manufacturers.

I ordered a standard black dashmat from Dashmat.com and it has worked perfectly. Sunlight reflection and dash deterioration due to the intense sun is a big problem here in the desert and this mat works just fine.

Any chance I could beg you to post a pic of how it looks/fits? Which version did you get? Suede? Limited Edition? I have the dark brown dash..so I will probably just select black since tan would likely not reduce glare as much

I tried taking photos but the reflection from the windshield blots out the detail. Suffice to say it fits "almost 100%". I do not tack mine down with glue but doing so would probably improve the fit just a little bit. It does fit fine into the corners though and doesn't slide around. It is a little bit uneven on the seam at the nearest edge of the dash but hardly noticeable.

I got the black suede and it seems to cancel out virtually all reflected glare. My R-spec has a black interior.

Ok, last question if you are still around...but does the cover go down to the glove box area or does it just stay specifically on the dash (top/flat part)? Some pictures on different dash cover websites show the dash cover coming down toward the glove box and I am not sure I would really care for that kind of look. Thanks again

My DASHMAT covers only the flat upper surface and looks just fine. No glare because of the matte surface. Got one for my wife's Honda Civic; Now that's a glare monster!

The Dashmat ends at the edge of the dash. It does not come down to the glove box area.

Tuna and others, thanks for the info!
