  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Great news!!!!! :grouphug:

We have a date (finally after 9 months!) for tuning the 4.6, preferably (but not necessary) with intake, exhaust, or both. This is a test session, utilizing the stock ECU. The original mapping will be copied as to return to stock after the test. The ECU will be re-mapped with the tune and optimized for best results on the DynoJet. At that point you would be asked to test the tune in real world application. Once the data is gathered over time and results are reviewed and tweaked, new ECU's will be purchased and flashed with the tune for purchase.

Dates available are 10/4 and 10/5. One car is needed. Please PM me with your info so I can set you up. We need a definite confirmation, as this window is fixed. If we cannot get this done, it will be next year before we can begin again due to SEMA projects.

We need one volunteer to willing to go through this and test for the community. I cannot, as I am not local to the shop. Who can help get this done?

Thanks

Hey Tailwalker. I have been in contact with the boys from BTR all week. My car will be the test car. I am dropping it off on Friday.....

Did you see my post in the other thread?

Awesome! Sam mentioned he had 1, but was not sure if you were on the forum. They're looking for a second car as well...more tests, more info, better results.

Anyone else assist?

I am excited for sure.

There a guy in my neighborhood that has a 4.6 but he doesn't have intake or exhaust. I can see if he is interested.

As long as he is willing, that should not be an issue. It would be nice to see the difference.

So how did it go this weekend? Very excited to see what kind of gains they were able to get out of our 4.6!

Yeah this thread is awfully quiet!

Have not heard what it is they have played with, and how much room there is to go. Any way you look at it, I'm ready for an ECU as soon as they become available!

I'm wondering if they are able to change throttle mapping for 1:1 throttle.

That car on the dyno has bolt on mods right? Intake / Exhaust? So compared to a stock car the differential is probably greater. The difference in low end torque looks significant even with the same mods.

Do we know when this will be available for sale or when we can expect an update with more complete details?

I would think we can get more details by the end of this week or the beginning of next. I do know that the ESC disable was a success. I also know that the responsiveness of the car is much more dramatic due to this tune, and on stock wheels the HP gain is slightly noticeable. Sam will have to chime in with actual feedback.

Right now he is test running...moving roughly 1500 miles away, so the car is getting a good feel out while driving there. He probably won't have time to get on here for a bit, but I will relay what I can if he does not. The good news is that BTR has a satellite shop where he is moving, so they can review everything and tweak as necessary.

So far he seems to be really enjoying the tune. As to price point, it would be a matter of what BTR can secure new ECU's for if you wanted to purchase in that fashion (as i am). If you are looking for just the tune to flash on to your own ECU, I suppose pricing will be comparable to all their other tunes.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Looking forward to hearing more about this next week!

Would be interested if there would be information on the no intake and exhaust benefits....I think the tester had intake / exhaust.

Q: Assuming I get this in my current state (no intake or exhaust) and I upgrade to an Exhaust at some future time... what would it take for a re-flash? would they charge again for the tune? send back my ECU... etc.

I did a flash on my old bmw 540iT... and the company sent the code in a an e-mail... downloaded the software to a PC... and then overnighted a USB to OBD cable to upload the software.... would this be a similar process?

If its anything like the other BTR tunes I've worked with on the Genesis Coupe you will have to send your ECU out.

If it's a canned tune, it's just a flash. The question is whether you would want a copy of the stock tune.

Some of us down south are still interested. Are we looking at first of the year or so? regards

First off, Tailwalker - thanks for all you've done to push this forward. I'm sure I'll be quite happy when I wake up my soft shifting V8.
Do we have any updates on when folks like us can acquire tunes/ECUs? If this is not your role, we don't need to continue leaning on you. If you wish to give us a contact with the company and make our individual inquiries, please advise. regards, Inman

I spoke with them last week - Waiting on all the particulars from the tuner (he comes in from Korea). We should have the complete breakdown, price and all sometime around December. As soon as I know something, I'll let everyone know.

There is a member of the forum who was lucky enough to get his 4.6 tuned, and loves it. Hopefully he can chime in with his impressions. He's been running for about a month with no issue.

Mufflers installed this morning, trying to get the cat deletes from MSA Authority (sloooowwwww in processing orders!). I'll be ready for the chip by the time it gets in. Can't wait!
