  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have NEVER been able to move the NAV in a way that is useful. I have a Hyundai Genesis 2015 Ultimate and every time you touch the screen it MOVES WAY AWAY from where it was before you touched it. Thus it is useless. Has anyone found a way to make it move just a little with a touch, make it move the way a finger on an iPhone or an Android phone map moves it so you can follow your route or look around an area or something?

Thanks Alley

Sorry, I don't use the touch-screen because the fingerprints bug me. The jog-wheel seems to work somewhat however.

Same here. My OCD keeps me from experiencing this issue. On a recent trip my wife touched the screen multiple times and it did not behave in the manner you described.

I use the job wheel as well but I have used the touch screen and it does work. How do you have yours set-up? North up or direction your heading?

I share your frustration.

I have the Tech so no job wheel but I agree the touch for me is useless. The moment I try to move in any direction it takes me completely away from the current location. Overall, I find the Nav pretty useless in this car so I just use my iphone.

My wife's Honda Odyssey has a small mulitdirectional knob below the screen which is much easier to use and the location function is much more intuitive.

ZOOM OUT for larger area browsing instead of trying to move the screen around.

Sometimes that doesn't work as sometimes streets disappear when you zoom out. Sometimes I just want to see if there are alternate streets I can take if the current one I'm on is backed up.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
If you use the touchscreen you need to touch it in the dead center of the screen if you want the cursor to be "stationary". The father away from the center of the screen that you touch, the faster the cursor almost immediately moves in that direction (at least with the Ultimate Nav screen). For those with the Ultimate system, the jog wheel is easier/more precise.

You lose local street level detail pretty quickly (far too quickly, imho) as you zoom out, so that is not a good solution.

Works for me. Hence, a good solution.

Good for you - but if you lose the street detail when you zoom out (and you do) and want to look at the surrounding area/alternate local routing as the OP suggested, then how can zooming out be a good solution to his problem???

Let the OP make that decision. She is certainly capable. Obviously, zooming out is going to show a wider area. Let's you look way ahead. You don't always want as much nearby detail. Works for me.

As I said: good for you if that approach works for you. However, if you read the OP's question, you would see that she was not asking about a wide view looking way ahead - she was interested in making the map move "so you can follow your route or look around an area or something?"

This is how I interpreted the OP's question as well. As soon as I zoom out to any degree, I lose all reference to my surroundings.

Works for me. Guess I'm more farsighted than some.

Are you using the right method to move on the screen?

You don't "press and slide" like a modern smartphone or tablet. Instead, tap once on the screen in the direction you want to move, repeat. Wherever you tap will move to the center of the screen. To get back to the current GPS location hit the map/voice button.

I think these screens are older resistive technology and can't handle movement or multiple finger taps or slides.
