Ok, so I REALLY REALLY want to love this car... bought new in Jan 2013, I have put 56,000 Miles on it, and I have SHAMED many a mustang, camaro, etc. etc.
First Warranty claim - the service bill came to over $14,000 thank god it was under warranty. Nav issues, cruise control, broken gears in the sun roof. etc.etc.
Second Warranty Claim - BLOWN MOTOR - motor spun a rod bearing and locked up SOLID, as in burn up a starter locked up. Stranded on the side of the road with two kids. Replaced with a new short block. That wasn't too bad... only took 3 WEEKS and they gave me a sonata rent a car. Service manager said the short block alone was $8,000 + labor, I'm guessing $10,000 all in?
Latest Warranty Claim - Shot Alternator, leaving me stranded in a really crappy part of town as I waited an hour for roadside to show up. Here's the kicker for all you Eqqus, R-Spec, Tech Package, and other owners that use the same alternator.
IT TOOK THEM A MONTH TO GET AN ALTERNATOR!!!!!!!!!!! How in the World is this even possible in this day and age???
Then I get the car back, and they didn't even TOUCH the other laundry list of stuff, you know, the windows buttons that wont roll up, the sticky console buttons, the gear shift that the service guys scratched up the last time that they had it....
What a Joke... Its an awesome car, they just didn't get SO MANY things right, and it just keeps going and going.
I will tell you, based upon my experiences, I will NEVER buy another Hyundai as long as I live.
