  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is sooooo irritating. My first Genesis was a 2010. It had a defective lumbar support when delivered. I also went through the steering wheel switch problem that affected so many others.

My 2013 operated for 2-1/2 years without a single problem. I figured Hyundai had figured out quality control.

Now my new 2016 Ultimate AWD has the same defective lumbar support problem as my first one. It is not only irritating that I must take time to get it repaired, I fully expect a minimum of two trips to the dealer, as happened the first time. They will tell me that the seat is defective, which I already know. Then they will tell me they don't have the parts, so I will be sent home to wait until they invite me to make at least one more trip, but that will probably translate into two trips, since it will have to stay a while. They fixed the 2010 by replacing the entire seat.

I would be frustrated as well - hopefully the dealer will step up and handle it expeditiously.

did you purchase both cars from the same dealer?

Yes. I bought all three of them from the same dealer. My primary complaint with the dealership has been its poor service department. There were several minor problems with the 2010 and only some were fixed, each requiring multiple trips. They don't offer the top tier feel that ought to come with a very expensive car (I paid around $50k for it). When I was driving Acuras, for 8 years, the service was outstanding. When the car was ready, I simply went to the door and someone would be there with my car. Hyundai lost my car twice, leaving me to play hide and seek, then having to look for someone who would speak English and help me find my car. I love the Genesis, but wish it was really a luxury car.

I think it's time to find a different Hyundai dealer.... Over the years I have purchased several cars from one dealer and they take great care of me.

If you had such great service from your Acura dealership, why didn't you stick with them?

This is my first Hyundai and the service at the dealership has been excellent. My only complaint is that Hyundai corporate does not stock a full range of Genesis parts in the US requiring a lengthy wait for them to be shipped.
