  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to put this out there for anyone who might be looking for a great car at a steal of a price. I bought this 2015 at the auction the other day (it was a corporate lease) and the car is flawless. Comes with all the books, keys, and original window sticker. No one there really knew what the car was so I got it at a great price. I have a genesis myself and love it. The difference from my 2013 to the 2015 is night and day. I just posted the car on ebay if anyone is interested.

Ouch, that is some depreciation. Glad mines' a lease!

56K miles. FWIW, I paid 7K more for 44K fewer miles, same car but white (faster), like new. Plus, mine is a CPO with the manufacturer warranty minus 1 year.

I think there are better deals to be found.

$7,000 more is pretty significant to some people. Either way they are beautiful cars. I took it home last night and was blown away by how nice the car drove.

Also, there is not a single Genesis in the country on cars.com under $30k and the cars in the low 30's are not ultimates....

So why not keep it and sell the '13?

I would love to keep it, unfortunately I drive 160 miles a day for work and it is hard for me to justify putting that many miles on a $30k car. I bought my 13' last year with 59,000 miles on it and I'm just shy of 100,000. It has been a great car but it was also half the price of the 2015 (mine is a rental rocket base car).

$30k with 57k miles is no bargain IMO, check out the deals people are reporting on the new 15's. Anyhow this should be in the classifieds.

There is also not a single Genesis on cars.com with 55k+ miles either.

I agree that $30k for a non CPO car just about out of the main warranty at almost 60k miles is a bad deal for anyone. There are far better deals out there and the only person who came out ahead on this deal was whoever sold this to the OP. lol

Projecting the value of this car one year out doesn't look good. On KBB if you calculate the value of a 2014 with a average of 12,000 miles put on it on one year you come to a trade in value range of 15,700 - 17,900 for a 2014 with tech and premium package with 68000 miles. Thats almost a 50% loss in one year!! As other posters said much better deals out there.

Thank you for all of your input I do appreciate it. I just want to say that this car is spotless. This car has all highway miles on it. You can't put 57k miles on a vehicle in one year city driving. This car has less wear and tear than most cars do with 20k city miles. I'd be surprised if anyone even sat in the back seat. Now you can pay more for low miles, no doubt about that. Even if you put a 5 year/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on this car you would still be considerably less than a CPO vehicle. Obviously for $7-10K more you can get less miles and a CPO vehicle. That is a lot of money to some people. There is no way you could find a comparable vehicle features wise for the price of this car.

The body style that is not current always has a steeper depreciation when a new body style is introduced.

Very true :) You can't compare the old body style to this new one. This body style will hold its value better than the last one. When the Genesis brand is introduced the new ones will even be more money. As these cars get better and better the price of them is going to go up.

How much did you pay at auction? You're a used car salesman advertising on forums?

The only reason I am "advertising" this vehicle on here is because I thought someone might be interested in it or know someone looking for one. I apologize if it is in the wrong section. I don't usually do this but I thought since it was a unique vehicle I thought I would put it up here. I paid $28,783.91 for the vehicle on February 11th at 2:41 p.m. We are not looking to get rich. This is a very nice car that is almost brand new.

I love car forums! Everyone knows someone who got the exact same (or better) car for $5,000 less.

And then you hear from someone who says $5000 less is still too much. He heard from someone that there are 20 cars (with less mileage) that you can get for $7500 less.

Just don't ask them to get specific. Or if they do, it turns out the car has a salvage title, is "slightly" dented or water damaged, or has a blown engine or trans.

I agree 100%. Usually if you see a vehicle that is similar to another one for significantly less there is usually a reason. Also some people qualify for more rebates than others which can make a difference in the price.
