  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum but I see that many people have been getting similar problems than me with their navigation. They all seem to be older models than mine though so i'm not sure if it changes something so i'm creating a new post to be sure.

I just bought my Genesis Sedan 3.8 Luxury model (amazing car) and I already have a problem with my navigation system screen being frozen. It basically freezes at "starting navigation" with like half the orange circle being filled and no response. Everything else works perfectly! When I try to switch to navigation from let's say the radio or satellite radio there is no response. I tried all the basic stuff like restart the car, play around with the controls and even wait for a couple of days as some people say that it fixed their problem. Not the case for me.

Obviously, I can take it to the dealer but I want to see if I can fix it first. I would really like to avoid having to replace the whole thing.

Any tips for this newer model?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
I would take it to the dealer while you are experiencing the problem.
A lot of times when you have a problem, the dealer can't duplicate it and thus can't fix it.
Maybe it's something they can fix in the shop, or otherwise order you a new unit.

First try resetting the system by using a paper clip or similar object. Press it into the reset switch hole for a few seconds. If the problem persists, get to your dealer.

Where would this small hole be located?

The reset is located above the CD slot on the right side. It is near the setup button on the AVN systems (Base, Signature, and Tech packages) It is near the DISP button on the DIS systems. (Ultimate package)

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately this did not work. Now I really think I might have to go to the dealer. Kind of disappointing that this happens only after a couple of weeks of owning it...

Sorry that did not work. It's time to get the car to the dealer and have them diagnose the issue.
