"when pushed hard, the 5.0 is definitely noticeably faster than the 3.8" This isn't "sort of" correct. It is correct and, a fact. You may think "sluggish" is a poor choice of words, and, if it makes you feel better, you can even believe it.
You obviously don't understand how H-Trac works and only drive on freshly paved, dry roads, I guess? Maybe this will help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sigvxCBDlwII suppose if you live in the "Great White North", AWD is a necessity but here, where we don't get snow or ice, AWD just adds weight and unneeded complexity, in addition to poorer gas mileage.
I guess roads are never wet where you drive either? or uneven? Your electronically controlled suspension does not constantly monitor and direct power to the wheels that have grip last I checked? No one is saying it does not offer benefits - but so does AWD, no?Oh and as far as having inferior handling/power transmission, the electronically controlled suspension is far superior to the stock suspension except on icy roads.
Again, suggest you read up on H-trac - we're not talking off road. No one said roads require AWD, but it does provide better control and ride when you do encounter the rough ones (quite often these days in NJ, especially with all of the salt and brine they spread each winter). You realize that most most roads in the US don't require a V8 either? In fact, unless I needed to beat the high school kids to the next traffic light, there is not too much opportunity to safely push the V8 to get the most out of it where I live.I'm not sure where you are driving your Genesis but it is not designed as an off road vehicle so uneven roads aren't its forte. Most roads commonly driven in the US are not so "uneven" as to require AWD. But again, if it make you happy to believe it, feel free.
Years ago I had an Infiniti M35S with the 3.5L V6 and a 5 speed auto. That car weighed 4100 lbs and had ~270 HP. I never once complained it didn't have enough power. But I also knew better than to test drive the M45 with its V8.
The 5.0 Genny just has so much presence and "oomph" when you hit it. Do I really need that power on my 13 mile drive to work? No... But I can afford it. Does a Tesla S really need 762 HP? It's all about choice.
...Its nice when i punch it to get out of traffic...
The "sort of correct" part was about your use of the word sluggish - we all get that the 5.0 is faster. But sluggish is absolutely a poor choice of words and anyone who was not trolling and being honest would not characterize the V6 as sluggish.

It's also funny how you always tout the benefits of your electronically controlled suspension but then minimize the broader benefits of AWD.
So I'll enjoy my "sluggish" AWD V6 and you enjoy your inferior handling V8!
OMG!!!!
How have so many survived the last 100 years without AWD???
Somehow, 16 year olds with no experience manage to survive without AWD, even in NJ.
Now are you saying you don't have the driving skills of a 16 year old, or you just believe all the marketing hype? By the way, how about some proof that AWD Reduces accidents.
Perhaps you should read what Consumer Reports has to say on the subject. Or don't as it may confuse you preconceived notions.
Try driving in Northern VA *** - drivers are crazy - or maybe just lost - The V8 is like in Star Wars - Put that baby in warp drive and get away from the crazies.I had the V6 Genesis as a loaner once and I was extremely happy that I bought the V8 after driving the V6. Two totally different cars in my opinion. If I drove the V6 without ever driving the V8, I would have bought it, but I was coming from a 4 banger and wanted all the power I could get when I need it![]()
Wow - you really are an arrogant a-hole aren't you. Your post is utter nonsense, as usual. It's not even worth trying it have a dialogue with a jerk like you...OMG!!!!

Nick I see you getting suckered into these 5.0/3.8 things too frequently. All these arguments have been addressed many times before with more or less the same results. The camp that has the 5.0 attempts justification for their decision and likewise the 3.8 camp. There is no finality to these discussions and more often than not result in less than acceptable information exchange and name calling. We all have our criteria of choice in these matters so it has been and will remain so. It is a worthy attempt at luxury car building no matter what the configuration.

I think we should discuss why Montecito Blue is the fastest color.![]()

And....
How have so many survived the last 100 years without:
Bluetooth
Collision Avoidance
Traction Control
Airbags
HID Headlamps
Navigation Systems
Heated and Ventilated Seats
Blind Spot Detection
Rear View Backup Cameras
etc.
etc.
I think all of these things make our motoring better.![]()
But the argument is that AWD prevents accidents and V8 engines are only good for stop light racing.
Lots of things make motoring more convenient. Your post doesn't add anything to the discussion of AWD.
The facts are that in many instances AWD causes accidents because it gives drives a false sense of security in weather conditions and only really benefits when the car is moving in a straight line, under acceleration.
Not my opinion, but facts derived by Consumer Reports. But, like politics, internet forums aren't fact based.
