Hello Genesis Motors,
I agree with you on the "good enough" comment
Guys... you both know full well that this is actually a significant portion of their marketing strategy with these cars. It has always been a "90% as good as the other guys" approach... from the G1 through the G90 - and going forward. This has never been a secret and consequently you will never get everything out of it that you could from another... but you will get most of the stuff that matters, and save ~30%.
Lack of "adaptive" function of the HIDs - which can be had on a $25,000 VW Golf but not a $50,000 Genesis Ultimate
There are a lot of cars that cost more than the Genesis that don't have this. It is also available on other models from Genesis. It's a $5000 option on the 5 series. Or maybe you should have bought a Golf.
Lack of
Android Auto/
Apple Car play on the Ultimate spec cars
Also not available on other cars costing far more. Is available on the G90 and will certainly be available on future redesigns of the G80. It was also NEVER even promised for the G2 at all - yet Hyundai went above and beyond by offering it as a retrofit option on some models. A move that is completely unheard of in the auto industry. Yeah - sucks they couldn't make it happen on the Ultimates like mine - but good luck finding another manufacturer that would even attempt to offer future tech retroactively - especially for free.
Headlights are pointed way to low from the factory
A problem shared pretty much across the entire Hyundai line - and easily correctable in about 20 seconds with a phillips screwdriver.
Lack of ability to display/read SMS messages using the multimedia system (so people pick up their phone instead, even if they shouldn't)
Honestly - I don't think this should be a feature available for any car, period. If it is that damned important - either call me when I am driving, or I will pull over and read. This is a social issue - not a car issue. There are already too many distractions while driving. Having the car read to you is one that we don't need. Again - if it's important... call me. My car has bluetooth. Otherwise - you can wait until I can call or message you back later. This "on demand" lifestyle that we have adopted is simply too much.
Lack or rear seat USB or power ports
G90 has both. Future G80s will. It's also easy to add to existing G2/80s. Took me about 20 minutes to wire it in properly so the cord wasn't visible and cost me a whole $7.
Excessive vibration from the wheels while driving and the A/C compressor while idling (my passengers have asked if I have the seat massage function set on due to this)
There is something wrong with your car. Mine doesn't do this - even with the AC pinned. Smooth as glass, even when idling, and you can barely tell it is running. Your
rims have been curbed or your wheels are out of alignment. Either way - you need to bring it in to address both issues.
Lack of memory for the drive mode, ACC on/off setting and Auto Hold function and seat fan/heater
Drive mode fixed in future incarnations & models (other Hyundais hold it, as does the G90). ACC and Auto Hold being disabled are DOT/NHTSA points wherein they must be reset. Is the pushing of a seat button really inconveniencing you that much? When I drive home in the evening - I have the vented seat on cause it is warm outside. When I get into the car in the morning it is cold outside and I want the heat on. What's it supposed to do - read my mind? Cause I sure don't want to go out and have a bunch of cold air blowing up my arse.
Grouping of the controls to the left of the steering
wheel (trunk and fuel release next to safety features and the rear sunscreen control? Really?)
This I can agree with to a point. Where else would you like them to be put? Not like there is a whole lot of room elsewhere on an Ultimate to put such switchgear.
Dumb sound system design - Bluetooth sound doesn't automatically reconnect
Something wrong with your car - or more likely your phone. Mine reconnects every single time. It always did with the Note2 and still does with my Note5 and the wife's iFoney6. No issues.
and sound levels vary dramatically between inputs
You will always find this on almost every system - including home and computer systems - that try to jump from BT to file-based to line-level inputs. I have installed 100,000$ home theatres that can't match properly... but that is due to the source... not the head-end.
sound system buttons and A/C controls are same size and within 2 inches of each other
Yet are properly organized... temp control being closest to the vent and the first knob you touch when moving hand to the right of the
wheel, being easiest to reach. Volume is under your left thumb anyhow... it was put there for a reason.
If Hyundai added a 1080p camera, the next person would complain that it's not 4k.
I'm going to let you re-read your last line here... then scroll back up and look at some of the things you have itemized & see what you think.
