  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

flutter @ 25-30mph

well they changed my driveshaft 2 weeks ago guess what the noise is BACK !!!!

There's no fix for it at the moment. My advice is to record it on your phone and email CEO

I have been through this thread several times and noticed that most of the post do not mention what year their car is. I know it should be a 2015 or 2016. Their is either no year mentioned or it is a 2015. Only one post that said he had a 2016 but the description was a little different from all the others (RyanB #31).
Does anyone with a 2016 have this problem? Could it have been taken care of with the 2016?

Thanks

Chiming in with another 2015 5.0L. Mine has been intermittent since 2k or 3k. Been in twice to dealer, 1st time thought it might have been (IIRC) vacuum pump, 2nd time was not able to reproduce.

I have a 2015 Ultimate V6 that has the issue, usually in the cooler months right after starting the car up. I'll be bringing it into the dealership within the next couple of weeks. I'm at 46K miles now FWIW.

I had the exact same problem on my 2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD. Started around 15k if I recall. 25-30 mph, esp on deceleration. Only when car was cold - for about first 10 min of operation.
I had the propeller shaft assembly replaced. No more flutter noise!

2016 3.8 AWD. Same noise - replaced propeller shaft assembly 1 week ago - fixed it.

I have had this exact same issue with my 2010 4.6 sedan for quite some time now (noticeable for more than a year, the car has 150K miles), and the dealer couldn't reproduce the issue (even though I told them to check 28-32 mph first start of the day), and I had always assumed it was the sound of some plastic part (body work, air dam, other? sounds like front right area of car) fluttering in the wind (possible harmonic resonance at that speed), so I didn't consider it critical for them to solve, but it is a great annoyance, as that is the speed I drive for the first 5 minutes or so out of the house in the mornings.

i have the same problem on my 15 rwd since the weather has gotten cooler... when i open the center console its louder... it disappears few miles down the road after car has warmed up though. i understand replacing the propeller shaft stops the noise but is this more an annoyance or an actual problem that needs to be addressed to prevent any further problems down the road? Are there any TSBs on this?

Replace the propeller shaft and this would fix the problem. I have had the same problem and this fix did the trick! Good luck.

got the drive shaft replaced and no more noise...this also took care of the minor whirring noise coming from the back when coasting as well. they diagnosed it as worn center bearing.

Just finally had the dealer replace my prop shaft !! Fingers crossed 🤞 that it solved my flutter !

Now on day 4 and the noise has gone away completely. Hopefully they have corrected the shaft so it doesn’t happen again down the road

Was this a fix under the warranty? And if so, did you have to "convince" the dealer that it was their responsibility? I'm starting to notice a sound, mostly on deceleration, that sounds like vibration and could be described as a "flutter." It's mostly around 25-30mph so it seems to fit the description of the issue in this thread.

Thanks,

Replace the propeller shaft; I had the same issue in Dubai - got it fixed by replacing the part. Good luck!

I have the same problem, happens exactly from 27 to 32 mph. Brought it once to the dealer already but said could not reproduce, yet they did mention hearing normal tire noise. Will try again... thanks for all the info here!

Same here on my 5.0. Have hear it under these conditions:

  • When engine/trans are fairly cool
  • When decelerating
  • More pronounced when decelerating downhill
It seems to come from passenger door speaker area, though I will be checking the center console open thing.

Thanks all!

I have mine in the dealer now for the same issue. Sent them video of noise and left the car overnight so it would be cold this AM for them to duplicate. They haven't been able to replicate yet, hopefully in the next few days they'll be able to do so. Same story as rest of you, louder with console open, louder on deceleration, popping into neutral gets rid of noise.

Biggest question is, has anyone seen a TSB regarding this? Dealer is hunting for one, but hasn't been able to find anything yet. This is all I found in another thread but link is dead:

One of recall program have been BH GENESIS (campaign TB4)
