Just an update, the car just turned 110k. Since my son is orlando, when he was home for the holidays I did a bit of proactive maintenance. In addition to the scheduled oil change, I changed the rear diff fluid with Mobile 1 synthetic. Simple job - took about 1 1/2 qtrs. Since I had never replaced the brakes, I also had ordered new pads. I had quickly examined the rotors at the last tire rotation, and seeing some info on the lack of rotor wear) and decided they likely didnt need replacement. I ordered
ceramic pads from Autozone with lifetime warranty (have used these pads on others with excellent results).
A few observations on the brake work. 1. The rotors looked like they were just mounted at the factory. They were near perfect -no rust, not a single nick, grove or rust. Measured them and they showed almost zero thickness wear. Amazing 2. When replacing the pads, the OEM pads still likely had another 30k miles+ on them but replaced anyway. 3. The pad replacement was the simplest brake work I have ever done. The twin piston caliber allows the pads to simply slide out without having to remove the caliper. Remove two pins and the spring that holds the pads in the correct in place and they simply slide out. I did both sides in less than 1hr, including cleanup.
Have to wonder if my wife's "new" will hold up as well.
