  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just received my Genesis license plate frame from Hyundai!

I spoke to Hyundai this morning. They knew nothing about who was sending out these holders. Say they had "Heard" about some but could not helpme. Said, if I did not receive one by the end of july to call again.

I also asked where the Eaquis were being displaied, again they knew nothing. Only saying it was NOT a USA car and they couldnot tell why it would be shown.
I only mention this because it further shows that Hyundai USA has a lot ofcatching up to do in regards to high end customer service!!

I received mine yesterday. For those who want to know where it came from, the return address says:

Hyundai Fulfillment Center
1753 Point Ave.
Ontario, CA 91761

I got mine,

Now I just need get well enough to drive and find a BMW to pass.

Got mine today. Guess I will see how long it takes before I get sick of it.

I just got one last week.

It doesn't look like they are sending these things out in the order that the cars were purchased. I purchased my car on the last day of July 2008 (delivered on 1st day of August 2008) and I have not seen one of these things.

I don't think I would put it on if I did receive one. I got a ticket for an obstructed plate on my previous car which ended up costing about $250 after the fine and lawyer's fee. I was not pleased when the lawyer pleaded "no contest". I could have done that by mail and paid something like $80 or $90.

It must vary by state. In Illinois it doesn't obscure the plate at all.

Fwiw, late November purchase, arrived 4 days ago.

Am I the only one that thinks this thing is a bit gaudy? I have no problem with the Genesis part, although it already says it on the back of the car anyway. announcing 2009 NACOTY on the back is a bit ostentatious in my book. I just got a chrome license plate from Target for 8 bucks. It matches the rest of the car and doesn't shout, "Obey my authoritah!"

No wonder I feel like I'm in the twilight zone when some of you complain about the AC, ride quality, etc. It seems some people on here will b*tch about anything. And I thought I was a nit-picky perfectionist! It's free you guys. If you don't like it, don't use it. Sell it on ebay and make $5, or simply toss it in the trash. I personally thought it was a nice gesture. I swear Hyundai can't win for trying!

FWIW, I got a free key chain from the parts guy at my dealership while picking up an oil filter the other day. I think it's pretty nice.

Nice keychain. I still have yet to find a good solution for the keyfob when you remove the mechanical key to valet. The fob seems flimsy without the key and there's no place for the valet to hang it like a keychain.

As for the frame being too ostentatious, folks could go with the plain Genesis frame from the parts dept. (e.g. http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/hyundai_license_plate_frame.html)

It seems to me that hyundai should compensate us for displaying the free advertising that the genesis won the NA car of the year award. Something on the order of a free oil change and tire rotation at the dealer would be enough for me.

Free will, You could throw the plate in the garbage.

See I think the plate was a nice offer. They ship it, and we choose to put it on on not.

Unlike dealer stickers which are forced on us (and usually mounted on the paint).

I spent over an hour slowly removing the dealer emblem avoiding paint damage but I will install the plate frame (at least thru the end of the year), because I think it is funny.

I bought my car last Oct 1st, no frame has arrived as of today.

Use a hair dryer to warm the dealer logo, it loosens the glue and makes it very easy to remove.

You're everything that is wrong w/ America. Suspicious, ungrateful, and worst of all, entitled. If you don't like it, don't put it on the car! It's as simple as that. No one is forcing you to give Hyundai "free advertising". Next you'll be asking them to make your car payments for you because you're giving them "free advertising" by driving one of their cars.

At least Hyundai didn't put some ugly sticker on the car like numerous other makes do when they win awards. My Civic had a Motor Trend Car of the Year sticker on the side window from the factory.

Funny that you should say that, when I picked up my Genesis a month ago it had two "09 NA Car of the Year" on the side windows :p

Ewww, really?

I hate stickers on cars.

1. How can you say that I'm suspicious? I know exactly what Hyundai wants: Free advertising that it won the NACOTY.

2. How can you say that I'm ungrateful? Hyundai is asking me to help sell their cars.

3. How can you say that I'm entitled? While I may be "entitled" in some situations, that makes no sense in this context.

Saying that I'm "everything that is wrong w/ America" is just plain ignorant.

Have a nice day!
