  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just received my Genesis license plate frame from Hyundai!

I forgot ignorant.

Do you even own a Genesis?

I just want to point out that while I can see the logic of not wanting to provide free advertising for a product without compensation (not that I agree with it, but I see it), there is a benefit from such advertising: it can result in better sales, which enables the product to continue to exist and improve. Especially in a car with low production numbers and trying to overcome two decades' worth of stereotypes, it could mean the difference between this being an experiment or a growing success.

While there's nothing stopping someone from removing all decals and logos or calling on the vendor to pay for the privilege of advertising their brand, doing so is a matter of aesthetics or protest. There's exactly zero chance that any manufacturer will pay someone who isn't celebrity or arranging a product placement in the media.

And in most cases, people even pay for the privilege of displaying branded advertising. Probably because the product is perceived to improve the standing of the buyer, not the product. I swear most people who buy luxury items proudly advertise their ownership because they think it conveys some cachet to them. At least with the Genesis, I think people are willing to do so because they genuinely like the product.

Update, I just got my frame today, it doesn't look that bad.

Sorry if I went off a little bit. I just don't have a high tolerance for some of the whiners on this forum.

Good thing I turned down that Moderator gig. I don't think I would have been very good at it. :D

I am not a whiner. I simply made a statement that if Hyundai wants me to advertise the fact that the Genesis won the NACOTY, then they can compensate me. I also don't fill out market research survey forms without compensation.

Yes, I agree. You made the right decision not to accept the Moderator gig.;)

As for the frame being too ostentatious, folks could go with the plain Genesis frame from the parts dept.

You meen like this?

I wonder if any Canadian has got the license plate frame?

Nice gesture by Hyundai, but I already have my University of Florida Gators frame on my Genesis. Anyone want mine? PM me and we can work out the details.

I just got mine today, purchased my Genesis a little over a month ago.

Looks nice :)

Strange, but even while I expected to get the frame, it was still a pleasant "surprise" when it arrived today. On the car (4.6, sapphire/brown) already (replaced the plastic dealer frame - I was too lazy to switch in the past 2 months). Regardless of what some may think of the aesthetics, I think it's a relatively inexpensive (for Hyundai) owner loyalty ploy. Worked for me.

I got a license plate frame from HMA and don't intend to install it (I already have after-market frames), so I'd be willing to give mine to a forum member that would like to have two of them (or perhaps someone -- our Canadian friends? -- that doesn't get one). Send me a PM and we'll work something out.

If you ship it to me I'll sneak it onto my parent's Azera when they visit next week! hehe.
"When I grow up I wanna be a Genesis!" - 1 year old Hyundai Azera

Kidding of course. Nice thought on offering it to those that probably won't get one from Hyundai.

Response: Just received my Genesis license plate frame from Hyundai!

BRILLIANT MARKETING MOVE FOR HYUNDAI!
My plate came and I removed the $20. unit that I had already purchased to put this unit on.
I can hardly wait to watch the BMW and Lexus owners strain to read the plate frames caption:
"2009 North American Car of the Year"

Whoever came up with this idea at Hyundai deserves a corner office with windows!

Now, when will we see an update to the Nav system?

Thanks Hyundai!:D:D:D

My Dad received his a while ago, he wants just the regular Genisis one though. Might have to just get it for him and sneak it onto his car lol. :D

This is a great marketing ploy though. He really thinks that Hyundai has overcame the negative stereotype, especially since the Genisis make his second Hyundai, he also has an 02 Santa Fe for his DD.
