  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

My '17 G80 Ultimate 5.0 replaced my '15 3.8 Genny Coupe Ultimate, manual trans, lots of customization. Now I regret it, even though it's a sweet machine itself.

I made the trade six weeks ago to accommodate my wife. She is waging a tough fight with cancer, and found the coupe too difficult to enter & exit. But her condition has worsened, and even the sedan has become a bit much for her. She's most comfortable in her Rogue crossover, but currently she can't drive. Not being fond of the Rogue myself, I upgraded it, trading for a Jag F-Pace R Sport. We both love it.

So the G80 will be relegated to stand-by status, handy for me when she starts driving again. When its lease is up, I can look at the impending next generation Gen Coupe. Hope it has MT.

My Genesis replaced a 2011 Sonata Limited. Yes, of the infamous locking-engine variety. My wife was aghast that I got another Hyundai product, but my Genesis (2015 Tech package) envelops me in a cocoon of wow.

My Genesis replaced a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstreck which replaced a KIA Sedona, which replaced a Hyundai SantaFe and I had another Santa Fe before that.

To a G80, from a Lexus.

Our 2016 Genesis 3.8 AWD Ultimate replaced our 2003 SAAB 9-5 Aero sedan.

I traded in a 2007 Mazda RX-8 Touring. Incredible improvement. Nearly opposite ends of the automotive spectrum!

My 2010 RWD Genesis, replaced my 2007 Chevy Impala LTZ, the ride is much smoother and the handling it superb. Nervous about the minnesota winter though with a RWD, granted I had a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee before and only switched it into 4WD when I was doing something I shouldn't have been doing in a car or was going through an unplowed road.

My 2017 G80 3.8 AWD Premium package replaced my 2015 Sonata Limited w/ navigation and tech, which I really liked. The Sonata was my first Hyundai. I’m hoping I do as well with my first Genesis.

I replaced my 2005 Toyota Avalon Limited. I loved the car: comfortable seats, soft ride and the luxury interior look. The new Avalon grill turned me off and Toyota interior had a less luxurious look. My spouse had 2 sonatas with no problems, so I decided to look at the Genesis and found my 2015 Genesis Ultimate. Do miss the softer seats and ride, but happy with everything else. It's a beautiful, head turning car.

Replaced a 2006 BMW 750I, was loving the car till all hell broke lose with problems that I thought were to expensive to be paying for a 11 year old car. My 2015 Genesis ultimate 5.0 suits me just fine.

My last car was a 2015 Acura TLX 6 cyc SH-AWD, advanced package. The car was OK, except that my wife, who is disabled, had a very hard time getting in and out of the low and somewhat smaller TLX. Also the harder bucket seats, in the Acura, caused her much pain after an hour or so of riding in the car. Traded for a 2018 G80 3.8 AWD Ultimate. It is much easier for her to get in and out of and much more comfortable seats. I have never owned a Hyundai.

Prior to owing a 2015 Genesis 5.0, my vehicle for 16 years was a 2001 Volvo s90 T6 sedan. Wonderfully-smooth car that had enough under the hood (turbo 6) to make it interesting on the backroads. In the last five years, however, the cost of maintenance and replacement became prohibitive and so with 225,000 miles accrued, I donated the vehicle and went shopping for another sedan. I had my heart set on a new Cadillac CTS but when I came across the Genesis, both my wife and I were sold on both the styling and performance.

My 2009 Genesis is my second ever car and it replaced a 2000 Honda 3.0 EX sedan, 5 days ago! So continuing to be a V6 owner, still can't believe I own a Genesis and I consistently feel under-dressed to get in the car.

My 2011 Genesis 4.6 replaced a 2013 VW Passat SEL. Nice car, Passat got great gas mileage with the 5 cylinder, but the electronics were all garbage and extremely slow. On the VW, I could start the car, put on my seatbelt, put it in reverse, back out of the driveway and start going down the road, then my backup camera would finally come on...

Smoked a deer about 6 weeks ago with my 2010 MKS Ecoboost. Basically an SHO in sheep's clothing. Loved that car...but insurance came through and am rockin' my 1st Hyundai ever. 2012 5.0 Rspec. When I bought thr MKS it was a toss up between that or the Genesis but at the time, the Genny was just out of my reach. Not so anymore, though I do miss the awd right now in the dead of winter

Awesome! Get an extended warranty, if you don't already have one. Some early 2012 R-Spec models have had some oil-burning issues.

2018 G70 is going to replace a Subaru XV crosstrek. Love the crosstrek but it has no oomph and is not comfortable for the long hours I spend on the road with my job.

Looked into the oil burning issue, seemed to affect mostly 2011's and early build 2012's....mine was built in May 2012, so far so good, hasn't budged a mm since I took posession, and I've been honkin on it :)
