There is only one Hyundai dealership in Rapid. Closest other one may be in Cheyenne, WY or Sioux Falls. I traveled to Minneapolis to buy my Genesis. I'm sure Hyundai and Genesis will have a service agreement on how long they will service the Genesis brand. They may even keep the service entirely along with having the Genesis dealership.
I wouldn't own a Lexus because it's a Toyota, I've had an
Infiniti, and I wouldn't buy an Acura because it's a Honda. I think Genesis has the brand image already but they need more support and advertisements. People like the cars and now that they don't have the Hyundai
emblem on them, they'll buy them. It's a shame to say but that's the way the world goes 'round.
I have been assured by my Hyundai dealer (General Manager) in Columbia SC who desperately wants a Genesis dealership and has been advised that there will be no dealership in SC that any 2019 models (G70) and future introductions can ONLY be sold and serviced by a Genesis dealership. 2018 model G90's and G80's and earlier models can continue to be serviced by a Hyundai dealer. My lease is up in 60 days and I very much wanted to give significant consideration to the G70 along with the G80 Sport. I will not consider driving a 100+ miles to Charlotte NC or Atlanta GA to purchase or obtain service for a G70. This leaves me with the dilemma of looking only at the G80 or shopping another brand. After 3 years of a fantastic driving experience with my 2015 G80 Ultimate I don't know how I can justify driving a stripped down version of one of the "snob" brands or expending a minimum additional $10k+ to get a car with all the features and options of a Genesis. As much as I love the Genesis experience I strongly disagree with Genesis' decision on the number of dealerships.

I never stated the G80 Sport was the "top" model for the G80. I said I expected that the Sport would be the top trim level for the G70.
They can break out the packages/trims just like the G80 in regards to how they are contented but with different engines. I used the G80 Sport because the G80 5.0 Ultimate is actually lacking options that the G80 Sport has. This includes the CDC suspension, dark chrome trim, sport seats, sport pedals, sport steering
wheel, 1 pound lighter wheels, etc. The 2k premium for the 5.0 Ultimate just gains you a V8 and LED foglights but loses all the Sport exterior/interior trim items and the adjustable suspension. So there won’t be anything like the G80 5.0 in the G70 lineup (which is why I never mentioned it). The 2.0T models will follow a similar pattern to the 3.8 G80 models and the 3.3T equipped models will top out with a G80 Sport-like trim.
There will be lower trim models equipped with the 3.3T engine. But they won’t be called Sport. Something like a 3.3T Premium. Once you tick the Sport and HTRAC boxes there will likely be no more options to be had. Similar to what they did in Canada (excluding the AWD standard part):

The 50k number CR listed is for the top model. No more options or packages. Now, the G70 Sport may come in at more than 50K (I agree that it would seem they have to price it higher than the
Stinger) but it won’t be because there are more options to be added. It will be because Genesis/Hyundai priced it higher.
Here are the G70 models and trims as displayed on the Canadian pre-order website (
