    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early Owner Feedback

Sadly the car has been sitting in my garage all week. I haven't had to fill up yet but I did notice the needle was down a quarter tank when I was at 100km. I fly back home this weekend so I'll get a chance to drive it some more and give it a wash and inspect the ceramic. I only had a few minutes to look over the ceramic and xpel before I had to leave.

Are you both finding that the tank is draining quickly? Maybe it's just calculating the consumption wrong.
On a side note, how is the ceramic and film working out on your car, Homer? I talked to JR and he mentioned that he did your ceramic coating.

I just went for a 5km drive and got 14L/100km with a mix of sport and comfort.

My first tank of gas i drove around like Jeff Gordon and got approx 230kms out of the tank, my current tank is half gone and i have about 150kms of travel done on that tank. I believe the tank is 60L

At 1500KM now, I've formed a few opinions compared to my TLX.

It's not very comfortable on the average streets of Vancouver. Coquitlam is great (our roads in this city are very good) and Surrey is either really good or really terrible. It's definitely not as cushy of a ride as my TLX. As far as 'luxury sports sedan' goes, it seems to lean more towards 'sports' than 'luxury' (to me luxury is comfort).

In 'Comfort' mode, the difference in suspension isn't that big to me, the steering feels non-linear, but it could just be in my head. I did just swerve around someone this morning to avoid them as they drove in and out of my lane and that seemed to have gone alright in 'Comfort' mode

The manual/paddle mode turning back to automatic has really turned me off from even trying to drive it in that way but I'm starting to get used to it. I think I'll gradually start from only using it when I need a responsive start/passing to getting back to driving with paddles all the time. Still annoying. The shifts are also very rough. My TLX shifted faster and more smoothly, making me really wish I had a dual-clutch. With that said, given the power curve, I don't really need to use the paddles that often.

Unlocking all the doors by double tapping the button the door is something I still haven't gotten the timing down for so my girlfriend is usually left waiting. The keyfob buttons feel kind of terrible. Probably the only cheap feeling thing about this whole experience.

Gas wise, my average for the 1500KM accumulated is ~11.7L/100KM. In the city I see 13-16L/100KM based on how energetic I'm feeling with the first 1KM being REALLY terrible and highway gets me 10.7L/100KM.

The metal trim around the shifter and drive mode knob is really blinding when it catches the sun. The 'Park' gear shift being a button is incredibly annoying. I always shift up and expect to be in park and I'm actually in 'R'. Fortunately I keep it in mind and I'm extra careful about it. Pain in the butt switching between cars though.

I think I'd like the steering wheel to be a bit thicker. I find the side bolster a bit shallow once you use the lumbar support but if you keep the lumbar support shallow, you're good.

Reaching for the lane-keep assist button on the left is a bit of a reach for me (5'10") but I also seem to have long legs so that might have thrown off their ergonomics plans. Unfortunately, since it's a bit of a reach and I can't actually see it while driving, I worry about pressing the trunk or gas lid release buttons. It seems like they didn't really want you to turn it off/on while driving compared to my TLX where the button is on the steering wheel.

The turn signal doesn't turn off after a turn as well as my TLX, it's like it expected more of a turn and the turn I made wasn't turny enough.

The sound outside is great at idle, when you rev it the sound's a bit underwhelming compared to how it idles. Inside, the engine sound on enhanced is fun but sounds fake.

Listening to music is great but the sound system lacks the granularity I have in my TLX for EQ, with no setting for subwoofer volume aside from 'bass', despite having so many subwoofers. The special audio processing algorithms also don't really 'wow' me like the ones in Acuras. But it's still very good and plugged in via CarPlay sounds so much better than just Bluetooth that I guess it doesn't really need the algorithms.

Performance wise, I absolutely love it. It puts the power down so well. I think the combination of the tires and AWD make it ridiculously controlled. There's a bit of turbo lag but if you plan a second ahead, use the paddles, and watch your torque/turbo gauges, you won't have surprises.

The suspension is perfect for what it aims for. That near-accident today? I felt extremely planted despite the fast hard turns of the steering wheel. On the Sea-to-Sky highway last weekend my girlfriend and I had a ton of fun. The seats held me in, the lack of rolling felt great with the curves, and the power was predictably available with the paddle shifters or just automatic.

In 'Sport' mode the steering wheel is perfectly weighted and feels precise, predictable, and responsive. It's fantastic.

Everyone loves how it looks. I love how it looks. My parking stall neighbour told me, "It's the prettiest thing I've ever seen." I've noticed a good number of people turning their heads. Then again, mine's a red car in a sea of grey, white, silver, and black BMWs, Mercs, Acuras, and Lexus with the occasional Porsche.

All-in-all, this whole experience has made me want to buy a G80 Sport for my girlfriend next year or whenever the next refresh might be.

Wow, thanks for the great reply - this is exactly what I was looking for. I think the gear selector might drive me nuts as well, but that's a pretty minor thing. My current car has a dual clutch with really nice paddles, but I think if I transition over to a g70, I'd just stick to auto. If the paddles aren't really nice to use, then I won't use them at all. It's also good to hear that the fuel economy is right where I thought it would be.

How are the brakes? Too strong? Just right?

On a side note - 23 G70s were sold in Canada in March (wonder how many of those were to dealerships).

Will be interesting to see how April fares.

Just turn off two-press unlock in your MFD settings. :)

I drive in Sport mode all the time and get around 12-14/L/100km (mixed city/highway). I accelerate hard, take corners quickly, go way too quickly, and often go into manual mode. I also launch the car occasionally. On the highway in Sport mode it will go back down into single digits after cruising for a while but this mode is far too fun to worry about fuel economy. :D

In Eco mode I get around 8L/100km with mixed city/highway. It's not nearly as fun as Sport mode but the car does get decent fuel economy when you want it to. Smart mode also gets you decent fuel economy as it goes to Eco mode whenever you're not on the gas.

All dealerships. Customer deliveries did not happen until April.

I originally posted this in the wrong thread. But...I will keep it there and duplicate here.

So...take a look at this. Not sure if this is a real pic or not...got it from their website.

You'll notice the range is 241 miles remaining...and the fuel tank indicator shows "almost" full. Car is also in Sport mode.

Also...you can see 85 miles driven. Does that mean the tank was on full...and it has gone through 85 miles already? That is our unknown factor.

Fuel tank capacity is 60 L...which is ~15.85 Gallons. So will the tank capacity be the same in the USA?...probably...why would they SKU another gas tank.

Based on all that info...I will assume this car was started with a full tank and at 0 miles.

So...326 miles per 16 gallons gives me 20.375 MPG. Seems reasonable to me. Is the car smart enough to predict miles remaining in Sport mode, ECO, etc? If so...then 20 MPG for Sport is actually not bad.

Yeah...a little bored on a Fri morning :)

Update...this is from the official (Metric) brochure...I converted to Imperial...

km/l...
3.3T Sport...(3,342cc, 8-speed automatic)...
- 2WD :: 7.9 (city), 10.6 (highway), 9.0 (combined)
- AWD :: 7.4 (city), 10.5 (highway), 8.6 (combined)

mpg...
3.3T Sport...(3,342cc, 8-speed automatic)
- 2WD :: 18.6 (city), 24.9 (highway), 21.2 (combined)
- AWD :: 17.4 (city), 24.7 (highway), 20.2 (combined)

I also wanted to point out something. Folks posting L per 100 Km. You cannot convert that to MPG directly. Some extra math here.

Just like miles per gallon...it should be Km per L. The distance you can drive per gallon/Litre of fuel.

So if someone posts 24 L per 100Km...that is the same as 9.8 mpg (or 4.17 km/l)...there is no way.

So...my question for the Canadian peeps...are you sure the car is displaying L per 100 Km?...or Km/L ? Huge diff. Based on the math...I bet it is Km/L.

I'd be surprised if were displaying km/L. L/100km is our standard unit of measurement for fuel economy up here. And yes, I know it's a bit weird.

Its definitly L/100km

I am just going by what my car display tells me but maybe my numbers are worst than everyone elses because i short distances but i drove 5km to work today in comfort mode and got 15L/100km

I think the gas issues some are experiencing is most likely because the engine is still pretty new. I've always understood that mpg increases as the engine wears in (from new) and increases still even after the break-in period. I wouldn't be surprised if you see an increase in the next 6mo-1year, provided you're not stomping on it of course. My $0.89.

While it's true that mileage tends to improve with some break-in time, I've never seen it double in a lot of years of driving, including working for an auto dealership in my youth and driving brand-new cars from the freight yard to the dealership. Not saying it's absolutely impossible, but changes that big (if the numbers reported earlier are accurate) seem well outside of the gains I'd ascribe to a car's breaking in. What I've seen is more on the order of maybe a 10% improvement.

Your mileage from driving 3 miles really isn’t indicative of anything except driving 3 miles. It’s not really long enough for the engine to get warm and it’s certainlt not highway driving.

This will be my comute 3 times times a day for 5 days a week so just putting the info out there for people that make multiple small trips a day.
