  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Ha, yup, really, the thing is shipping in Canada, what is the hold up in the states now that they said all Hyundai dealers can sell them.
Not all 800+ Hyundai dealers. Only those who were allowed to sell the G80 and G90, which is 350 dealers. But those 350 dealers will be required to have a separate dealership built within a couple of years, and that will cost them probably $10 million or more. So there is a lot of deciding to do, and a lot of contracts to sign (between Genesis Motors and the new dealers), and Genesis Motors doesn't want to let a current dealer sell a 2019 model like the G70 until they are under contract with Genesis Motors going forward.

If they are in it for the long haul they will sign on.

Likely has little to do w/ the timing of the US launch of the G70, but the launch of the Genesis brand in Australia (which was to be spearheaded by the G70) has once again been delayed - now sometime during the 4Q instead of the 3Q.

Originally, the Genesis brand was supposed to launch April/May down under; the same original time-table for the US launch of the G70.

With all these delays will likely opt for something else. I was close on a G80 Sport, but something about the seats reminded me of my A6, they were stiff and just could not get very comofrtable and with my lease up soon I may pass on Genesis this round. At this rate G70 looks to be a few months out then they will be selling the Sports for sticker likely for a bit as the early deliveries will be rare.

Another repurcussion would be the choice of tires on the sport model. If the g70 is not released until late summer/early fall will the pilot sport 4 still be offered? (another great selling point)

Tire offering doesn't vary by season. Currently the only 19" tire option for G70 from the factory level is the Pilot Sport 4 - can't be changed short of a new option being tested and implemented.

That's good to know, thanks.

In Australia, I've decided now to buy a Stinger GT instead of the G70. I prefer the look of the G70 but have got tired of Genesis keeping on with delays.
I don't know why they can't have a "we come to you" sales approach initially like they do in Canada. It could be run direct by Genesis (don't know about the laws here) or by participating dealers.
Dealers could have vehicles parked around the back or off site and take a vehicle to the customer for a test drive. They could do the pick up service bit and take to a Hyundai or off-site workshop.
If it costs $10 to build a new dealership who's going to invest that kind of money if sales go flop like they did for Infiniti.
Anyway, it shows a real lack of planning on Genesis's part. This all should have been sorted before they even put up an Australian website.
Even if they launch in Q4 there will be the ordering delays and I would be paying top dollar to place an early order.
So, I'm buying a Stinger GT. Sales of Stingers have stabilised and prices are dropping. Early manufacturing hiccups have been sorted too. It's basically the same car but looks different.
I'll relook at the Genesis in 3 years when they hopefully have their act together.
Good luck you guys in the US

Just finalised the deal on my Stinger GT. Got a new one for A$61K drive away. MRRP is A$65,300 drive away. 7 year Warranty and capped price servicing. Third to half of what Audi, MB and BMW charge.
Genesis G70 estimated to cost about A$73,000 when it launces. Will the G70 be worth an extra 12k?
Sorry Genesis, you blew it.

Congrats, definitely not a bad choice. I was very close to one as well as I loved the hatch and my kids voted for it based on the bigger back seat. Enjoy!

No way it's 73k lol. It's 56k cad... Will be similar in USD or cheaper

Well....it's now June in the USA and still no news on dealers or the G70.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I thought Hyundai said all dealers can sell Genesis now? But more importantly yes no freaking date on G70.

They said that all 350 dealers that now sell both the G80 and G90 (out of a total of more than 800+ existing Hyundai dealers) can apply for a Genesis dealership.

In order to be accepted as a Genesis dealer, the investors have to agree to build a completely separate dealership (at an estimated cost of about $10 million on average) by some date (probably end of 2020 or 2021). If they are approved as a Genesis dealer going forward, then they can sell 2019+ models at their existing dealerships until the new facilities are built. Otherwise, they can only sell model year 2018 or earlier models. The G70 is a 2019 model.

Well that will take forever. They are really screwing this up big time. I may just pass on Genesis for this lease and see how they figure this all out over next few years.

They should figure out who will be a Genesis dealer long term fairly soon, and then they can release the 2019 G70 to them. Obviously, it is taking longer than the original plan whereby Genesis selected the 100 dealers, and there are a lot of contracts and legal papers to get signed with each new dealer.

Personally, I would be a "little" concerned about a so-called new vehicle sitting at a port of entry for a long time, since some of them are more prone to rust at those seaports.

Lots of people drive cars (and trucks) on both the west coast and the east coast in Canada and don't have their vehicles disintegrate before their eyes. Hopefully the G70 will be the same.
