If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Carfax, damage & accidents? Bargain or time bomb?

Not quite sure why the SD card on the Ultimate would not work to download Apple Car Play. Someone more familiar with the cars might have the answer

The ultimate with 17 speaker system has a different hardware and software system, and Hyundai says there will be no update for it to allow Car Play. The new 2018 17 speaker systems do have Car Play, I believe.

I got my Tech Package from Jim Ellis. It was the only one they had. I lucked out. My sales guy, who was great, moved to Florida. Otherwise I'd have given you his contact and he could have kept an eye out for one for you. I didn't care about the color or really anything else on the car, and I know you are looking for a blue one.

Try calling Aaron Jackson in Jim Ellis. Another great guy to call is El Rico Williams from Cumming Hyundai. Unfortunately, they don't have as good a collection (or prices) as Jim Ellis. Good luck.

I called Jim Ellis a few weeks ago. Spoke to some knucklehead who didn’t know they only had ultimates. Got a follow up email that said something like “We nay carry ultimates because they’re so hard to get”

Non-update: the sales guy called me around 4:30 this afternoon as I was just getting on the road to head home, from my cousin’s who lives about 30 min North of the dealership. He wanted to know if I’d thought more about the deal.

I would have told him ya, you thought about your next meal. I can set you up with a good $20 steak. Of course I'll have to add on handling fee, then there's cook prep fees & don't forget transportation fees & taxes and the add- ons, like steak sauce, salt. pepper, fork & knife. I can sit you down at the table for around $90. When can I expect you for dinner?

I think I did a pretty good job of playing the game by NOT playing any games. When they were trying to sweet talk me ("the 5.0 is AWESOME." "That Ibiza Blue is YOUR color!" etc) I said something like "Look, to be clear. I really like this car, and I want this car. But I don't have to BUY this car today." And when the F&I guy started to say something like "Well, we can get you a different extended warranty" I, politely, cut him off and said "I'm only interested in the Hyundai warranty. If I lived in the area, MAYBE we could talk about something else, but you're never going to see this car again after I drive it off the lot."

I'm probably going back down to Miami around 4th of July. If the car is still on the lot, I'll be offering them $1000 less. Or maybe I should drop it by $2k. I'm also going to talk to the local guys here and see what they can do with the car on the VW lot.

That brings up a question that I'd like an answer for...if I'm getting an extended warranty anyway, what's the benefit of CPO? I suppose it means that everything broken has been fixed before you get the car and start bringing it in weekly for each warranty repair as you find it.

Also, as mentioned previously, I offered $2000 for the Hyundai extended warranty. The F&I guy said it was $2571. I am thinking two things 1) I saw on the forum that the dealer cost of the warranty is in the $1500-1800 range so $2000 should be acceptable for them and 2) the guy said $2571 because that's a more believable number than a nice round number like $2500 if he's trying to tell me what he can sell it for.

I don't think there is any point in the CPO if you get the extended warranty. Except for the 150 point checkup - in which they missed the chip in my windshield and the hook for the cargo net lying right in the center of the trunk. Silver against a dark black background. The check up includes a few things in the trunk. The spring of the trunk was also broken. So, they ended up doing a full second 150 point checkup.

If you don't take the extended warranty, the CPO gives you 10 yr power train warranty.

I paid 2375 for 10/120/0. But it was not the Hyundai warranty. The Hyundai warranty covers exactly what this warranty covers - because this used to be the Hyundai warranty. I'm hoping that it will be okay. The numbers of 1500-1800 were from a few years ago and Hyundai has since changed the underwriter.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I don't know whether you saw my earlier post? I have reposted it here. Jim Ellis in Atlanta has 11 2015 Genesis offered. Mine is the one displayed in the link above. Might be worth a detour on the way back to Savanah.
We chatted last week about Jim Ellis in Atlanta and I have to say that i am impressed with the level of inventory of 2015 3.8 Ultimates on their lots
I am very close to giving them a call in the morning and making them an offer on a Monticeto Blue - Ultimate pkg and 21K miles - they are asking $28,300 +++
Has the Ivory interior and like always looks spectacular on line -
Thinking I will offer $28K OTD

With regards to Car Fax - just remember that you only see it if its been reported - no police report and cash repairs are never on the Car Fax - i know from experience having purchased a Caddy STS that was touted as having a clean report only to find out a week after i purchased (private sale) that it had been in a front end collision and they missed the leaky radiator - i wasn't happy

Offer $27,700 then he has room to come up to the $28k you want.:)

Worth a shot - i just saw on the website where they are calculating the OTD at $30,455 - what is your opinion on the extended warranty ? asking $2,800 for the Platinum 100 month 100,000 mile $50.00 deductable

I am a bad person to ask on extended warranties, I take the Consumer Reports stand that they are generally not worth the money. Yet you will likely hear from others who have had positive experiences.

CR makes too many "general" statements. There is a big difference between adding one or two years of warranty on to a home appliance, and adding 5 years on to car (up to a total of 10 years). Especially since dealers can't fix many of the major components (engine, transmission, audio/Nav system), they usually only completely replace them at a cost of thousands of dollars and sometimes more than $10K.

The low mileage 2015 comes with a full warranty to 60k or 5 (2020) years. Plus power train to 100k or 10 (2025) years. Spending a bunch to fill in the blanks on those 2 warranties doesn't seem worth it to me, but each to their own.

Extended warranties typical have a heap of exclusions, exceptions, and limitations. With the leftover Hyundai warranty, I would not purchase an extended warranty. IMHO

It's hard to say whether it is worth it now or not.

Back in the early days of the Genesis they had a lot of Audio/Nav systems problems on the 17 speaker system, which at that time only had a 3/36 warranty (starting in 2016 was increased to 5/60). The dealers could not fix them, and had to install entire new ones, and the parts cost alone was $4K. Dealers don't fix transmissions either, and only rarely do they fix anything inside an engine (usually requiring a brand new one).

There are a lot of electronics on the newer Genesis models, and if one keeps the car 10 years it might be worth it, assuming those items are actually covered (which has been a subject of continuous debate on this forum due to the language of the extended warranty terms).

That is a failure of the system. I don't expect a dealer to be able to fix the electronics in house, but Hyundai/Genesis should be able to fix it. There are plenty of electronics houses around that know how to test and repair things like that at reasonable cost. The dealer should be able to swap it for a rebuilt unit for hundreds, not thousands. Of course, the customer still has the option of finding a shop too but they may not find pulling the unit very simple.

My experience is rebuilt electronics are 30% to 50% of new. My favorite though, was a machine panel that went down at a critical time. We pulled a board and saw a component that looked swollen. I took it to a guy that does part time work on TV repairs. Fifteen minutes and $10 later I was on my way back and that machine is still running years later.

I thought the '15s only had a 3yr/36k bumper-to-bumper warranty, not 5yr/60k.

If I wanted an Ultimate, I'd definitely check them out ("only" a 250 mile drive from here) but I want CarPlay. I'm about to make an offer on a 2015 5.0 base (basically like the 3.8 tech package) from a local dealer. I think the asking price is a bit under $29k, but it's been on the lot for a month. On the other hand, they need to fix a broken headlight ($1000) and it's not CPO, which would be another $500-600 for the inspection. Not sure what I can get it for. I'm ASSUMING they're going to ask $30.5k for the car (plus TTL), but I don't know what a reasonable offer is. I may have to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale again...
