  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

BlendMount BV1-2000R installed. I'll be hard-wiring it later today.

Dude that's dope! Where you get the mount?

Jk, learned how to read today and saw it was the blend mount.

Lol....I ordered everything from Amazon - s/h was twice as cheap compared to getting it directly from BlendMount.

All installed, I'll post some pics soon ;)

Dope, let me know how those prongs are a lot of complaints about it being weak. 100 bucks for that mount man that's steep lol, I drive a Hyundai I can't afford those prices lolol.

What ya think I drive? a Bentley? I am KDM AF, man! :D

I was worried I might break them, I used the small one from set of 4, had to use a really tiny flat screwdriver to put in and "wiggle" it next to the wire, as the prongs wouldn't go in.

Today I changed my oil. Fairly easy oil change except for the having to remove the massive under body cover to access the oil filter and drain bolt.

I really like how easy the 5.0 V8 engines are to work on. The Hyundai engineers really did design a fairly powerful engine that is actually easy to maintain.

However, I hate that I had to buy 8 quarts of 5w-30 Valvoline high mileage full synthetic oil. Yet, I also like the fact that this engine does use a lot of oil for better cooling and reliability.

Mounted my V1, got the blendmount was too rich for my blood I got cable and mount for 50 shipped. Had to change out two bolts but over all happy with the way it came out.

Roommates Genesis A7 :)

I swapped out the crappy stock wiper blades for some Bosch Icon wipers blades. My stock wiper blades were just streaking water over my windshield. The Icons cleans my windshield like someone with a squeegee.

To be fair my stock wiper blades were three years old, however I always swap out my wiper blades for Icons with great results.

Our car uses 26A driver and 16A passenger.

I swapped my old worn our shift knob for a new one I bought off Ebay from Korea. The knob only costed about $30 with free shipping. Took about a couple weeks to arrive.

My old knob was only three years old, but it looked like crap. Luckily it was easy and cheap to replace.

New shift knob

Old worn shift knob and part number for replacement.

I did two rather minor things...
  • Got setup with a trial Bluelink subscription. So far I've only used remote start twice but it's already the best thing ever. With black leather interior in Sacramento summers, I don't think I can ever go back to not having it.
  • Installed the Android Auto software update. This seems to be met with varying degrees of like/dislike and it does have it's pros and cons. Overall I like it.
    • PROS
      • I much prefer the look of the Android Auto screen for most things and the album art display is nice. I don't mind not having the audio information on the dashboard display since the touchscreen is large and easily visible.
      • The dictation of received text messages also works really well and it's easy to respond via voice command.
      • Google Maps looks great.
    • CONS
      • I don't like that I have to use the USB cable.
      • I can't peruse my Google Play music library so I still have to unlock my phone to select an album to play. I understand the safety implications but I still have unlock my phone so it's kind of a moot point. I could use voice commands to play songs but that doesn't work with albums as far as I understand and I don't have every song/album/artist memorized.
      • There don't seem to be that many supported apps at the present time.

Doesn't always work. But try "Play all songs from my album <album name> from my library". All and my seem to be the keywords for me to get Google Assistant to work on Google Home and AA. Works most of the time. But not always. But Playlists work every time. "Play the Playlist <playlist name>". The problem is that there is no equivalent of iTunes "Smart Playlists" which is really annoying since that's so easily a Google thing and should have been implemented years ago.

I'll have to try out the all and my keywords and see what happens, thanks! I never make playlists since I never use them. I usually just listen to full albums. I guess I could make a playlist for every album but that doesn't seem necessary.
