  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A Genesis Sedan Alternative...

A shame, but not that surprising.

Not that I thought the Kizashi and Gen were ever really competitors (aside from an aesthetic standpoint).

After seeing recent spy shots, I have to agree. Suzuki just bold faced lied when they said the Concept 3 would be very close to the original.
Check out this link http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-kizashi/25863-what-happened-kizashi-being-ruined.html

The spy shots show a lot. They have totally destroyed the entire look of the car. The entire lines and overall looks are almost entirely gone.

The only competitor (for me) to my upcoming lease is the Chevy Volt. Unless I make a killing in the next 8 months in my business, and I don't see that happening, then those two cars will be the only two I look at.

Told you so :p

Dangit....
This is, by far, the worst I've ever seen a car change from concept - especially when they say the production car will be very similar - to production. This is why I never even REMOTELY consider Suzuki when thinking about automobiles. Same goes with Subaru. These are two companies I forget exist until someone says something about one of them. It's going to look just like every other unidentifiable P.O.S. on the road.

Sideview seems to resemble the new G38 if you ask me....

Concepts can be very, very, sexy but it's not going to look like that in production.

No longer a "concept." In the video clips the manager states it's pretty much what they are producing. The Genesis doesn't look even close... in my opinion

I'd be curious to hear what you have to say now. :D :p

This thing has a mish-mash of Corolla/Impreza/Lancer styling cues and is definitely not a Genesis-fighter. It just looks too cheap and small. Even the loaded model w/ chrome wheels and more aggressive lower air damn do little to help the car....the greenhouse is just too bland and characterless IMO. Too bad they didn't keep more of the concept's styling.

Part of the appeal of a Genesis is it is understated... a luxury performance sedan should (in my opinion) not loud or shocking (leave that for the hot hatch crowd)...

For some reason, I can NEVER see Photobucket images...

Its not you.....the links are bad.

Thank you.. Pretty nice Suzuki. That's a big change for them.

I see G37 and 5 series lines, which is a good thing. Hope they come to market with something substantial, and not a FWD 4 banger that needs to be cranked to 6000 rpm to access the power.

Well, it's all over the net now. It will have a 2.4l I-4 (the same engine in the 2009 Grand Vitara delivers around 165hp), with AWD optional and a choice of either a 6-speed manual or CVT. A V6 is supposedly on the way and should be a version of GM's High-Feature V6.

It's clear no matter what Suzuki says that this car is drastically different from the concept and not built primarily for the North American market. It's 7"+ shorter than a Fusion and 11"+ shorter than an Accord making it roughly the size of the last-gen Mazda 6 and only a tiny bit smaller than the Mazda 3 and VW Jetta.

I think they did a nice job on the interior, but it will never make a dent here, at least in the midsize segment.

The Suzuki press release claims the engine will make between 180 and 200 horsepower. The 2.4 liter GM i4 in the 2010 Chevy Equinox is rated for 182 horsepower (and mileage 22/32, which is outstanding for a small SUV), so Suzuki's claim of 180+ seems reasonable.

I agree.

I think Suzuki went for small and sporty because they realize that a midsize Suzuki with similar size and characteristics to a Camry, Accord, Fusion, 2010 Mazda6, Sonata, etc... etc... would have to be just the new clear king of the segment in order to get any attention.

At least now by being smaller and sportier, they fit into a market niche and a price range that's a little different from the competition. But I still don't expect it to do that well. I never learned how to drive a standard transmission, but I think from an enthusiast perspective it's nice that the manual tranny option uses a six speed manual.
