  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Can a current owner post a picture or video cycling through the different camera options for both the front and rear facing cameras? Specifically I want to see the parking aid front side view camera shot (the one showing the front wheel from below the side mirror)...

I believe the front camera has a full front and the two side wheel shots below the mirror.

And doesn't the reverse one have the full rear view, but then doesn't it also have two views off to either side? What are those showing?
You can look at front wheel or back wheel while going forward or backing up. Very useful for parallel parking.

I am out of town without my car but will try to remember to take some pics next week if no one else does, and if I remember :)

Fair enough... that is a bit needy. LOL. Perhaps just a brief explanation would suffice. I've seen multiple reviewers talk about the camera system but haven't actually explained all the different views that are available.

More of my own curiosity to see what the camera system is capable of.

Off-topic, but whatever cameras there are, it won't be like this (not at least in this generation). Holy cow!

^ Those are definitely different then some of the angles on the G70. Is that from the G80?

Looks like it because the screen is in the dash rather than floating on top... and his profile says he drives a G80 Sport... Also, it looks like he had his doors open so you didn't really a good shot of the cameras, but it did provide a basic idea of what they look at

No, I mean that the actual options are different in the G70. There are actual shots of the front and back wheels as options and there isn't the ones looking out the front corners. I will try to take some pics to show what I mean.

Oh. I see what you're saying. Yeah take some shots

For the record, my doors were not open and it is my 2018 G80 Sport.

^ from the article, it sounds like another favorable review of the 2.0T Sport 6MT:

"...But after I got to drive both RWD setups back-to-back, I discovered something remarkable: The 2.0-liter is actually more spirited than the V6. The subtraction of those two extra cylinders and a turbo seemed to reduce the nose weight of the G70 significantly...That comes as little surprise when you consider exactly how much lighter the manual, RWD G70 is...
The result was something agile and quick in the corners. Down on power, of course, but paired with that snappy six-speed, the manual 2.0-liter more than made up for the missing acceleration. Added with the fact that it has a mechanical LSD, tossing it around in tight corners was a true treat.

You’re hearing it here: You don’t need the twin-turbo V6 with the manual. The 2.0-liter four-banger is perfect."

Could current owners comment on the following from the Jalopnik review, which I found a bit disturbing. Ie; are these observations true, and if so how does the car compare vs. the likes of BMW and Audi.
" doesn’t ride as quietly on the highway. My driving partner and I both remarked on the loudness of the wind noise as air rushed over the car while we cruised on the highway.
The ride quality, as mentioned above, is stiff. Even in Comfort mode"
and
" The G70 rides hard over bumps, too. It has five different drive modes, one of which is Sport, but there’s little difference in suspension feel between Comfort and Sport ".

Mind you, the observations relate to the Sport model with adjustable suspension, which in turn uses 35 aspect 19" rear summer tires, which would be very stiff. I'm interested more in the Dynamic which has 18" all seasons (but no adjustable suspension).

I'd be interested in hearing from owners about wind noise as well, in particular because Jalopnik's comments seem to contradict other reviews, which found the interior very quiet. I found a couple that stated wind noise started only at high speeds.

I can tell you that a week ago I test drove a G70 3.3T Sport with the 19" summer tires. Coming from a C300 with run flats (not optional), I found the G70 incredibly smooth and quiet - much less road noise than my Mercedes. I didn't get up to a sustained speed on the highway (I usually go about 120-125 kph) where I can comment on wind noise.

I find wind noise very annoying, so I'd love to hear about it!

Given its low CD, a lot of wind noise would be surprising. Tire noise is another matter entirely.

As for some stiffness, I think that's what you can expect in a luxury/performance car. Take out the stiffness and there goes a good part of the performance aspect. Optimal handling requires some rigidity and that typically translates to a stiffer ride. As it is, many of the reviews have noted that there's still a considerable amount of body roll in fast turns. Unless you have some sort of truly adaptive suspension, it's pretty hard to get a cushy ride and good handling from the same setup. I know people have a cow every time I mention the new Mustang here, but their Magna-ride system does an amazing job of managing smoothness and handling. But that's a pretty exotic set-up that can actively changes the viscosity in the shocks ata a rate of a thousand times a second. The G70 doesn't have anything quite like that.

I find it weird that the reviewr would say that, i drove a 335i for years and fully tested a c class and S4 and i find my G70 top of the heap for road noise. There is a tiny bit of noise when on rough roads due to performance tires but there is ZERO wind noise. I found a sizable difference between handling and throtle response between sport and comfort but suspension was minimal but still there, the ride is pretty much how it should be in sport mode but you dont feel large bumps as bad as say an M240i which feels like the car will rip in half after hitting a small pothole. I have the 3.3T sport

Buckdes can you touch on the difference between Eco and Comfort modes?? Some people have said that Eco mode has given them better MPG ... does it adjust the transmission shift speeds or shift at lower RPMs?

Eco mode is like a snail !! LoL but seriously if you use eco mode it is definitly going to yield more fuel economy but it takes much longer to get up to speed and lags badly so i only used one time on the highway and couple times around town.

Sport mode is only when you wanna rip around as it holds RPMs high the whole time and guzzles gas, Comfort is the best mix but throttle still has a tiny but noticable delay over Sport mode which is virtually instant.
