  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Pretty good...gets very technical...and very accurate facts...

2019 Genesis G70
Great article Beefer, thanks for posting!! I'm in Maryland, we'll have to get together when we get these things and do a photo shoot! LOL

One thing of note from that article:

"The new Genesis G70 should cause some disruption in the entry lux-sedan class via value. Expected to start well-equipped around $35,000, fully-loaded AWD V6 versions should barely hit the $50K mark"

Another great article... interesting that this a Canadian article and is just being released now when owners have had their cars for weeks!

Also, the pictures in this article are some of the best, high-res shots I've seen of the G70 (you can zoom in and pan around on all the pictures)

Related to the questions on the suspension, while the ride is definitely not harsh, it is on the firmer side. Comfort on the G70 is still firmer than sport on the Kia Stinger. I personally find that a good thing, others may not. It is still far from a rough ride though. Definitely has a great balance.

Nice seeing more reviews coming in. :)

2019 Genesis G70
Agreed. DId anyone catch this statement?
"with a dedicated dealer network scheduled to debut with the G70’s August on-sale timing in the U.S."

Yeah, that review is a little too breathless to be credible. The rear seats have less toe room than my C300 and the trunk is also shallower due to the real spare tire. Let's be real.

I'll take their comments on looks though :p
Yeah...comment about nobody buying the 6-speed was a pylon move as well.

I feel like this is the most accurate and realistic review I've read / seen of the car, except I do give the looks more credit than the reviewer. I think it's the nicest looking compact sport-luxury at the moment.

So literally every reviewer said Genesis told them cars would top out to about 50k, this one review said it's gonna be in the mid 50k and you believe them? Lol, I still think a RWD 3.3 loaded will be 48-51k

I'm still sticking with $51k for a 3.3T Sport AWD!!

Also, that Naples Illustrated review had a bit too many... over-the-top.... adjectives and comparisons for me. It was like that guy was sitting in front of a thesaurus the whole time and he was trying too hard to sound "peppy" about the car

Yeah...my favorite is still the SAE review from yesterday.

Agreed. That has been the best written review so far... and it has the price estimated at something I like to here better than mid-50s. HAHA

Does the adaptive suspension have an option for Comfort?

You guys are newb... The 2.0t is slower than you HOPE or IMAGINE it to perform. Don't get too much faith in the 2.0t with so much pride it won't make the car go faster for you. It's known to be slow the 7.4 sec 0-60 is legit from AoA (Alex on Auto) review which is actually pretty dang reputable. He does pretty good job getting every car's performance to near full potential while still following the codes and regulations. This is really old news. About a year ago Korean review ran the 2.0t and the 3.3t side by side and there was no comparison. The 3.3t pulled on the 2.0t by 3 soccer fields in the acceleration tests. The 2.0t is secretly slow and the 3.3t is wildly fast. Don't go use your faith that the 2.0t will perform nearly as good and you'll end up regret buying it cause you got destroyed by an Accord 2.0t on the street. Yes the Accord will destroy it. Even the 12 year old technology Lexus IS250 (200 hp) will whoop the G70 2.0t as it puts down 7 sec 0-60 flat.

Stop complaining about the small feet room (and overall tight rear cabin space) in the G70. Genesis did that on purpose to keep the car short as possible for performance. Shorter wheelbase increases handling performance and also helps with the acceleration by a small percent. Less metal means less loss of power transfer.

Stop complaining about the fuel economy. The G70 3.3t has very aggressive gearing all the way to the top speed which is a bit different than other manufacturers that make fuel efficient cars. Genesis engineered the G70 for performance they know that short gearing will make the car go fast but trade off on the fuel economy. You have to sacrifice on one thing to get the other. You can't have both it's just the physics. If you want descent gas mileage than you have to put into eco mode and drive very gently like a grandma. That car is not made for that.

AoA said he got the 3.3t in 4.6 sec 0-60 WITHOUT the use of launch control. That's pretty good. He should be able to shave off another .2 or .3 sec with the launch control.
Use 1/8 tank of gas and test on a nice favorable weather and you are looking at 4 seconds flat 0-60. Remove a few items like carpets and spare tire. The manufacturers claimed 0-60 numbers are pretty conservative they underrate them for various reasons and Genesis isn't the only manufacturer that does that. Lexus IS350 (second gen '06~'13) for example gets 4.7 sec 0-60 using a g meter when tested on a nice cool/cold weather. Manufacturer on the brochure claims 5.6 sec which is for marketing really to make room for IS-F 0-60 number when in fact both IS-F and IS350 have pretty close 0-60 accelerations. Also interesting to note that AoA estimates the G70 to have 114~ 115 mph trap speed at quarter mile. The guy said it's a very quick car and he means that he ain't playing around.

Many (actually most) car mags won't be able to appreciate nor fully unveil the G70 3.3t potential as they don't take the car out for acceleration tests from 0- 170 mph. The acceleration really excels after 125 mph as it has nearly linear rate acceleration pull when going past that speed. The G70 will beat the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 Red Sport from dig 8 out of 10 tries in the street out in the real world. And racing from roll say 60 mph to 160 mph they both will come out about dead even, especially the Q50/60 Red Sport vs G70. That's pretty impressive in my book considering the G70 has 35 to 40 less horsepower on the brochure. The Q50 and Q60 are pretty underrated but the G70 is even more underrated.

I wouldn't get the G70 though the front end is so ugly. The Q50/60 looks better than that.

Looks like someone did a few white lines this morning...WTF?!?!

If you don't even want the car...why are you even here trolling with your horrible English and bizarre untested (in USA) facts? 4 seconds flat to 60...um...ok. Close but no cigar.

First thing I do when I get a gorgeous new car is remove all that pesky carpeting. Gotta shave those seconds off!

Nobody is complaining about anything - it's a new car so it's worthwhile to discuss its benefits and drawbacks. You need to relax and take your negative energy elsewhere.
