  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After a lot of nervous checking around, I finally bit the bullet and had a hitch installed on my 16 Genesis Ultimate. Not to haul anything, just to carry bikes as there's no bike rack compatible with this car. Drawtite brand does not have the 2016 models listed in their fit guides, but Curt brand does. I found a Curt dealer in Branford, CT and it got installed, all-in for $320. It took about 2 hours to do the job. Looks great and is barely noticeable since it blends in with the black trim below the bumper. The clearance is just under 8" which is not the lowest point on the chassis.

Discreet! Let me go out on a limb here and predict you won't be installing truckloins :-).

Didn't want a roof rack that could hold a couple bikes? Huddleston has the Yakima on his

I've been looking at that Curt hitch on Amazon since it is fairly inexpensive, has great reviews, and looks easy to install. Seeing it on your car confirms that this would be a good decision.

Put the Curt hitch on my 2012. Same one fits the 2016, so I'll be moving it over soon. Parts cost me less than $200 doing it myself. Just had to drill 4 holes, take the mufflers off and put them back on.

About to buy a G80 and this hitch installation is exactly what I'm looking for (also for a bike rack).

Not bad, I been looking at this too. Can you do a few more pics of standing height and various angles? Thanks.

Interesting video of an installation I would never try on my own. I did install a similar trailer hitch on an 04 and an 06 Prius, but that was "kindergarden" compared to this video. I would like to have one of these hitches for my bike. An interesting quote in the installation said something like "iF you're installing this hitch for a bike operation, you should also have a strap connected to something in the truck for stability. That might be the deal breaker for me.

On my Prius installation, I seem to remember bolting it to the frame verses this installation which seemed to be bolted to some light weigh steel. Maybe that's the reason for the suggested strap. I think I'm going to drive down to a Curt dealer ask them a little more about it.

I really want a class 2 trailer hitch on my '18 Genesis G80 Sport only for putting a receive hitch bike rack on it. Has anyone put the Curt hitch on the '18 Genesis G80? And if so, how did it work out? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger and getting one next week. If I do, I will post pictues. At the moment I'm thinking of skipping the wiring for trailer lighting due to pulling a trailer with a Genesis is not recommend. IF I did pull a trailer, it would be something that I would very seldom do and my loads would be well under 1000 pounds. Like taking my lawn mower in for service, etc.

Is it there maybe as a sound dampening feature?

My post was entered in error. In relooking at the video, I think the dark piece in question is protecting the gas tank and would not come into play if I go the trailer hitch route.
