  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

If the price is reasonable I'll probably pre-order... if not, I'll just wait to pull from existing inventory. The dealership near my house is a fantastic dealership, one of the best in Maryland, so I'll look to give them my business if I can. They offer certain buyer incentives and proximity to my home that make a very slightly higher price worth it over other dealerships...

I'm not going to commit to pre-ordering or waiting until pricing and full options and everything get released

So...for the heck of it...should we get a poll going to see if tomorrow (Aug 1) is finally the day we get 1 or more of the following?

  1. Pricing info
  2. Release date
  3. Build on their website starts working

So choices would be 1, 2, 3, 1&2, 2&3, 1&3, all 3

:)

I HOPE for all 3... I think if anything comes tomorrow it will be just pricing info. But my absolute final answer I'll go with 1 & 2 - pricing and release date info.

How do you set up a Poll in this mofo? Cannot seem to find it.

Edit: Never mind...got it...started a new Poll Thread.

First, allow me to state that the information that I received today was from the GM of my Hyundai/Genesis dealership. My local dealer changed ownership about 60 days ago. The new ownership group (Peacock Automotive Group - Peacock Automotive Group | New Volkswagen, Dodge, Jeep, Subaru, Audi, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Land Rover, Maserati, FIAT, Jaguar, Porsche, Genesis, Ford, Hyundai, Ram dealership in Hardeeville, SC 29927) is fairly large and operates out of the southeast. I had inquired about the status of Genesis with this new ownership and the status of the G70. This is his initial response. I have asked for more specifics and I am awaiting a follow-up. Before everyone jumps all over this post I realize that the information provided is by one GM at a multi-brand dealership and he is receiving part of his information from the Genesis rep for the region. Take the information for what you will and don't shoot the messenger.

"First, let me apologize for not responding sooner, it's definitely been a very chaotic first month of ownership. Fun and exciting but chaotic. As for stand-alone Genesis brand, this direction has stalled due to the state legislature. To be specific, Genesis/Hyundai has stalled in making or requesting dealers across the state and most states to create a stand-alone building for just Genesis product. As for the product, dealers are having a tough time acquiring Genesis product from the factory. It looks to me as if the factory has stalled shipment of vehicles until these relationship issues are resolved. As for the G70, it was supposed to debut this fall but now I'm being told by our factory rep that it more than likely won't debut till the first of the year. I hope this helps with your questions and please let's keep the dialogue open to ensure you're aware of when the product reopens.

Well that's about the worst news I've heard all month LOL Hope he is incorrect!!!

Also, if that's the case, I'm not sure I would want a vehicle that has been sitting in a caryard somewhere near water for months on end most likely without being driven or even run. Not sure that's the best way to handle products...

Well it was just last week I spoke with the GM of all of Genesis in the USA...and he told me very end of Aug or beginning of Sept. He was very confident in his statement...so I am believing him. Sorry :)

If you don't like or agree with the information, so be it.

Ok folks...did another round of phone calls...got a bit freaked out.

Here is the shpeal. Cars were supposed to be allocated in the past week...and start shipping right away.

It is confirmed the cars have been in port for ~3 months...so shipping times are roughly 2 weeks.

Allocations did NOT happen the last week of July...apparently Hyundai can be up to 10 days late.

He said he expects allocations next week or shortly after...then they start shipping ASAP.

Cars will be available to us between the last week of Aug to the first week of Sep.

Bob's yer uncle. F'ing A.

Hope for everyone's sake you are correct. Time will prove out.

Anybody have any idea what that means in terms of the state of the cars themselves? Sitting in ports for months? Genesis almost certainly did not have "port boys" running around the lots making sure all the cars have been run or at least rolled to prevent tire flat spots.... I'm not sure exacty as to the effects of sitting for extended time or even how long it takes for any effects to take place. Just a little disconcerting to me... anybody with any ideas or expertise or opinions as to the state that the cars will be in?

I'll give them 2 weeks to give me a day and a price or I'm going to start looking elsewhere
While I agree that some information would be awfully highly appreciated (even if it is that they won't be available until 2019), you're just going to jump ship after waiting this long? I mean it's not like we're waiting to see IF the car will be released to the US or even built, we're waiting to see WHEN it will be...

Just out of curiosity, what else would you look at? G80? or different brand altogether? ...

I've waited nearly a year. At some point you have to draw a line. It's the sunked costs fallacy anyway.

on my list to check out...
340ix
c450/c43
q50 RS 400

That's what I figured you'd be checking out... just wondering! TBH though, I saw an AMG GLA 45 SUV the other day; SO SICK! I know it's a 2L turbo but still, 375 horsies and AWD in that little thing.... fully spec'd puts you around the price range of a comparable 340ix or c43 amg... just throwing it out there. You definitely get alot of performance and versatility...

I prefer cars to SUVs, i'm consider the CLA AMG variant too. I do know an excellent MB mechanic

Just spoke to my local Hyundai dealer and the salesman told me they are expecting the G70 to be available in September or October. Seems to line up more with what you're saying than the previous letter posted here.

Either way, I'm in no rush so I don't really care; but, it would be more fun if it came sooner so shops and tuners can get a hold of it quicker and produce more aftermarket parts more quickly. Hah.

My 2016 Genesis 3.8 lease ends on April/19, I'm not in a hurry either but I will like to see the cars arriving to the dealears ASAP because at the beginning will be no incentives and the car will be selling at or near MSRP but by the end of the year incentives will be more likely.
