  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

List of Stand-Alone Genesis Dealerships

The brand isn't even fully rolled out and the snobbery is already rearing its head. As I've stated in another thread, with the OG Genesis (and the Equus that followed), Hyundai was ALWAYS trying to attract the higher end crowd. Hyundai tv ads didn't mention that the Genesis was better than the Camry or the Chrysler 300, they called out Mercedes/Audi etc. It's very strange some think with the Genesis brand they are only now trying to attract an upscale crowd. Hyundai is trying to evolve the brand past its name for sure, but that doesn't mean they're not still trying to get the value-conscious premium car buyer.

That makes sense to me as I fall in that category. Had a Mercedes and don't want another. Won't even to into a BMW or Audi showroom. I had three Sonatas and they were excellent so Genesis was a logical upgrade for me. Better value than Avalon or Lexus, IMO.

Sorry pal, but we all have, or had, the name Genesis stuck onto our trunk at the same factory. Don't be snobby. Do you disagree that current Genesis owners ('09-'18) are prime candidates for future sales? If you do, you are deluding yourself and bull shipping the rest of us.
Sorry pal yourself, but there is a difference between a brand and a model. The fact is that in the context of Genesis as a Brand (which is what the stand-alone Genesis dealers will be all about) you are not a current Genesis owner.

I'd also say that while current G1/G2 Hyundai Genesis owners are certainly a part of their target, they are actaully shooting above that group. Further, their handling of the "relaunch" and dealer network/support seems to also suggest that they are not all that concerned about current G80/G90 owners - let alone G1 Hyundai owners.

I agree, I've only had a couple of premium cars in my life and while they were okay (BMW 328 was actually cool but way too expensive to fix). I like the value of the Genesis and plan on keeping the car as long as it drives.

Exactly what is above the G1/G2 owners group? The only super luxe barge is the G90/Equus. Genesis models and their predecessors were always competitively priced to undercut. Hyundai wants the market share the Germans have with premium sales, that's the real goal.

I meant they are shooting to expand sales by shooting for a demographic that historically would have been willing to spend more for the established German Luxury Brands. By creating the separate Brand and distancing it from the stigma of Hyundai, they hope to lure more of the upscale buyers to consider Genesis versus the big 3.

Reactions: YEH
Genesis does want completely separate dealerships for their new brand. But even those who will be designated as Genesis dealers going forward starting with the 2019 G70, most of those dealerships will not be physically located in separate facilities for a couple of years due to the time it takes to build out the physical infrastructure of a new dealership.

So there is nothing sacrosanct about having a separate brand and requiring separate dealership facilities for that new brand, although that is the goal of Genesis Motors to get to that point in a few years.

Precisely! Pay no attention to the guy behind the curtain telling us that only his Genesis matters.

I think you've already dug your hole. The backbone of this group is 1st Generation Genesis owners and your initial remarks in this thread were as insulting, as they were incorrect.

Says you - the G1 and G2 cars were not Genesis branded vehicles - they were a Genesis model (like the Sonata, Accent, etc.,). So, I am 100% correct in saying that you are not a current Genesis owner in context of the Genesis Brand as I explained previously. Sorry that fact becomes an insult/seems to bother you. It doesn't stop you from buying and actual Genesis vehicle moving forward. But I maintain my opinion that Genesis is more concerned with expanding their sales by luring folks looking at MErecedes, BMW, AUDI, etc., than they are about G1/G2 owners and you have no way of proving my opinion wrong unless you are a Genesis Motors insider (which your posts don't; support) - of course, you can hasve a differnet opinion as well..

My goodness, where have you been during the past 10 years? Alll of us 1st generation Genesis owners here in this group surely could have benefited from your wisdom ALL THESE YEARS. How interesting that you (and Genesis Motors you say?) consider us 1st generation Genesis owners second class citizens. You'll go far here with that demeaning logic.

A little insecure/defensive, aren't we? Where, exactly, did I say that either Genesis Motors or I consider G1 owners second class citizens? I merely pointed out the indisputable FACT that the G1/G2 Hyundai Genesis are not Genesis branded vehicles. I also provided my OPINION that they are looking to pull in far more than those value shoppers as they grow the brand. I believe that they want to pull in the folks that historically just would not buy what they percieved an expensive Hyundai (regardless of the value proposition) and actually lure the serious Audi, BMW, MB buyers with a cars that are equal or better in terms of luxury and perfomance.

This is a list of Genesis-Specific dealerships. If you know of one, please list it in this discussion so I can add it right here in the first post.
So, where's the list?

The list is coming aaaaaaany day now.

Starflyer is a great straight man, isn’t he.
But we have already heard of several being built.

I've been accused of having a dry sense of humor most of my life and I plead guilty as charged.
