  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early Owner Feedback

1. Yes it does.

2. I’m using 91 in the 3.3T, which is recommended. I believe the 2.0 allows for regular gas.
Keyword recommended, not required and is allowed. 83 octane performs quite well unless you are very heavy footed, IMO.

Thanks for the info, disbeliever. Two questions for you:
1) Can you describe what the Siberian Ice colour looks like, because, although I am interested in it, the different web images don't seem to all jive?
2) I assume your interior is black with red stitching, as that seems to be the only option on the top of the line model. I wanted the grey with white stitching and am a bit frustrated at the lack of permutations and combinations of colours offered.
Wow, sorry for the late reply. I was away and not checking the forum.

1) I think there’s a good discussion on the Siberian Ice on a different thread labelled “Siberian Ica vs. Casablanca white” where there are a lot of representative pictures and comments. I agree with pretty much what all owners of the Siberian Ice say, which is that it looks slightly different in different lighting. It’s a great color. Blueish on cloudy days, darker grey in low light, and pretty clean neutral near-white in bright sunlight.

2) In Canada at least, the Siberian Ice only comes with red stitching. That was my preference, so obviously I didn’t mind, but something to be aware of if you’re not into the red.

Gray stitching IS available for all colors...confirmed with Kevin Smith. As a matter of fact...he is driving the car I want!!! 3.3T Sport AWD in SI with gray stitching :)

Thanks for the info, cheers! For #1, my '15 Hyundai Genesis (G80) didn't remember so you had to set the distance back to 1 car length after the car had been turned off, but my current '18 Optima remembers. Small quality of life feature.

Nice, so 89 would be acceptable without noticeable drop in MPG and performance?

I can't speak specifically to any experience with 89. I have never had any negative issues with using 83 octane. I have, also, not experienced any reduction in mileage with 83. If anything I would speculate that running 91 and presuming more aggressive driving would reduce MPG.

Cool. Maybe they just had SI with red stitching when I was buying. That’s good news though.

There are technically no factory colour restrictions - any restrictions you see are simply to limit inventory complexity and/or protect people from their own poor taste (Nurburg Green with Burgundy interior, anyone?!).

Whaaaa? It would be like Christmas all year round!!

i also posted this in 'what things don't you like about the g70', but i don't like how difficulty it is to fit a set of golf clubs in the trunk. the driver is a very tight squeeze no matter how i try to fit them in - across the trunk or on the diagonal. i knew the trunk depth was marginal, but the width also appears to be an issue for a set of clubs. and this is for just one set with nothing else in the trunk, i'd be really concerned about a second or third set.

i'm surprised by this since golf clubs are usually a metric used by automakers in this class and up.

Thanks, disbeliever, I was also away, so no worries about the delay. I was new to the board and discovered the treasure trove of SI pictures later on.
I ended up ordering the 3.3 Sport in Siberian Ice before I left and am very happy with the exterior colour.

Beefer, I don't know who Kevin Smith is but my sales rep was absolutely insistent that black/red was the only interior colour available with SI and that is what I received. I will be very unhappy if it turns out this was untrue.

The other beef I have with the car is with the rims. The winter rims I ordered in titanium are nicer than the OEM black rims IMO, but I was told I could not replace them with Prestige rims, which I far prefer. Think I will call Genesis Canada and voice my displeasure at those limited choices, which for a high end operation focused on customer satisfaction, seem ridiculous.

Otherwise, I am actually very happy with the vehicle.

If you go on the Genesis.com website and select Build & Price under the Menu, after you select the 3.3T Sport and then SI for exterior color, you will see both "Black with Red Stitching" and "Black with Gray Stitching" as options under Interior.

I've done that--I suspect it may be different in the US vs Canada.

In Canada...yes...only red stitching.

I have a few questions for current owners.
  1. How does the Apple Car Play work? Is it pretty quick to connect and any issues with disconnecting?
  2. Auto engine idle start/stop feature - Is this on the 3.3t sport? The salesman said it was not and I did not see a button to disable it, but thought I read somewhere on this forum that it did have that feature. If anyone can clarify that would be great.
  3. Since the command start is through the app how long does it take from the time of pushing the start button to the car starting? Can you also control vent selection and fan speeds with the app?
  4. Do the TPMS readings show the actually PSI?
  5. Is there an type of de-icer feature for the front windshield wipers?
Thanks

1. Cannot comment
2. None of the 3.3T have it
3. Some say it takes a while. The car is using 3G...so not the quickest. You cannot control vents or fan speed.
4. Cannot comment...but I can check later tonight
5. Cannot comment...but I can check the manual

Car Play is quick to connect and disconnect.
No Auto Start/Stop on 3.3T
20-45 seconds after command is submitted. Works on 3G so pretty slow. You can set defogger and climate temperature.
Shows actual PSI
Unsure about the de-icer. Haven't cracked the manual yet.

1. Connects and disconnects almost instantly. The only issue I’ve had is that sometime when connecting CarPlay it switches the input to CarPlay and won’t let you switch back to radio, for example. This only happens sometimes, so not sure where the issue is coming from.

2. No start / stop on 3.3 T

3. Don’t know.

4. Yes it shows actual PSI for each wheel on one of the menu screens.

5. No heated wipers.

Thanks for the info.

By chance is there a pdf manual online anywhere. I haven't found one yet? Maybe owners have access to this to download one.

Someone should at least mention that you must first take your phone out and plug it into the USB port. There is no wireless CarPlay. I wouldn’t say that is almost instantly.
