  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Another dealer approved in Virginia. Safford Genesis has received their license and now will be called Genesis of Springfield. The salesperson I have been emailing seems like a nice guy and he says they will be getting cars in soon. If you want to contact him, his information is below.

Little correction sir.

They are called Safford Genesis of Springfield

Hopefully by then the licensing/franchising situation has been settled. If not, probably could kiss Genesis USA goodbye and you won't have to worry about any cars. ;)
Yeah...what is happening now is a one time thing. What Tesla went (is) going through. Once licensing is all in place...all future Genesis cars will roll on in off the boat.

I just noticed this point. So the back seats are heated AND cooled? That is f'in awesome! My kids will be happy about that!

Not ventilated in the back. By vents...I meant the 2 HVAC vents in the center stack. But rear seats ARE heated at some trim level...forgot.

No. He means the rear seats are heated [on some trims] AND there are rear HVAC vents [mostly but not all trims/not on 2.0T Manual].

I am not aware of any brand/model that has rear ventilated seats.

Not according to David's email to me but he could have gotten it wrong. ;)View attachment 15794
I just went off their website...

But...in the License search utility...they are indeed coming up as Genesis of Springfield.

Perhaps one day they figure it out. The same day the configurator goes live ;)

Oh - gotcha Beefer and Drezz. Thanks for clarifying. Even having heated seats in the back with a center stack of vents is good enough for me. I am planning to get the 3.3T Sport trim, which I think is the highest level, so it should have that.

Anyhoo...I started to talk about how nobody knows about this car...and the fact that the main website is a mess. He said that Genesis is waiting for more dealerships to open up and have inventory before they configurator and other aspects of the website go live. I was stunned. I said that it could be MONTHS before that happens. He agreed. So folks...it could be a very long time before that configurator goes live.
I guess I can see the logic, but it's a bummer for the enthusiasts who would like to futz with the configurator now/to tide us over 'til the dealers are all straightened away. I'd like a dose of "seeing is believing" to confirm details/exact configs to be made available.

Ok...we were both right...kinda. But you trump me. They used to be called Safford, etc, etc.

They are officially now Genesis of Springfield.

BUT...I learned something. Yeah...I called the GM...we spoke earlier so no biggie.

EVERY Genesis dealer has to follow the same naming convention. No words can prefix "Genesis". And the city/town is always at the end.

So the format going forward will always be "Genesis of XYZ".

That was my learning session for the day...time to drink.

Seems like they spent a lot of time thinking about that rather than how to get the licenses approved and the franchises set up. ;). Does seem to be a bit of a flaw in their logic though, what will they do when there is more than one Genesis dealer in a city? I know originally they were not going to have that issue when they were going to go with a limited number of dealers but that plan got thrown out. I guess they can add direction: Genesis of East Denver, Genesis of South Denver, etc. . Then again, it could be in the suburbs so different cities.

I actually spoke with Kevin Smith regarding this. Genesis will not allow more than one dealer per city. Kind of what Lexus does. They do not want to saturate areas with dealers. Forgot what the distance requirement was.

So around me...we will have Genesis of Richmond and Genesis of Midlothian. I would say a solid 20 miles apart.

I knew that was the original plan but thought that was tossed last May with the announcement about Hyundai dealers. I was going to say there are three in Denver right now that say they will be dealers but I guess technically they are probably around Denver and not in. Guess we will see how that goes.

Still nothing in California?:cry: FWIW I tested an Audi S5 Sportback yesterday. It seemed to be "a nice car", but driving home in my leased '16 340, the 340 still seemed better. Hopefully there will be G70s in Cal. before Feb.

I posted this already but I almost bought a G80 Sport from Safford. Told y’all about my experience. I will give it to them that it is a nice dealership, brand new...so I believe they will probably do the whole Genesis customer experience. I’m still waiting for Genesis of Chantilly to get their licensing because they are the closest. They do have a website and they are an official Genesis dealership, but from what I was told they can’t sell the 2019’s yet due to their lack of paperwork or something. But hey, things are happening! And 4 months from now y’all can laugh at me because I paid sticker price :cautious:o_O

Which is GREAT for us if you think about it. The longer nobody knows about these cars...and the longer they just sit...they will be anxious to move them. Not because of Genesis incentives...but purely on the fact that their money is being held up and profits will be down.

So...I am not pressing on that configurator. Let it be another 6 months !!! We basically know what trims there are. Just keep searching the 6 or 7 dealerships with their online inventory.[/QUOTE]

Months before the 2019 Volvo S60 even began production the "Build Your Own" was up and running on their website. The S60 wasn't even close to hitting the dealership and all of the Volvo web info was available. I don't see an advantage to Genesis by purposely delaying this online tool. It really just seems that nobody knows what to do or how to do it at Genesis. It's pretty sad to witness this mess

I see the logic too, but it still sucks for us wanting the 6MT Sport because that is the model that is still up in the air as far as specific features and content. Patience is a virtue I suppose.

Just got back from global genesis in NJ. They have the cars but no one able to help sell them 😂. They also have more than the 3 listed on the website but the person didn't no what they have in stock. Guess I have to wait a bit longer.
