  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

US dealers who actually have the G70 available for sale.

I feel the other way around. I don't see a need for over 300hp. I don't use high amounts of horsepower outside of on-ramps, which would be like twice a day at most without people in front, and using it elsewhere would basically force going 60+ mph on a 45 limit road to have fun. I could understand if there's a quiet/big road with lots of sharp turns that allow you to slow and accelerate several times, but otherwise wringing out the car would just be a hazard.

But I'll be the first to admit I'm an overly cautious driver. Feel free to bring up counterpoints, as I've been looking for opportunities to use strong acceleration.

I agree. The 3.3 is nice but realistically I will never be able to put it to use. I just want a nice luxurious powerful-enough car that is fun, small, and reasonably practical. Almost nobody makes anymore, you have to give up something from that list, or if you want everything it is far more expensive.

I have not driven a G70. I did, however, own at Sonata with the 2.0 with a few more horsepower. It was quite a peppy car. If the G70 is just as good with performance, I'd be happy with it. It has decent acceleration and can cruse at any sensible highway speed.

Many of the early sales of the G70 and maybe Stinger, seem to be towards the performance biased enthusiast. They would want more. The ratio may change in time ans the car becomes more mainstream. I'd want to drive one first before saying yes, the 2.0 is good for me too.

Alright so as i stated on Friday I was taking a trip to Herb Connolly Genesis in MA which is a 90 min drive, now im not sure if i should post this here or not but i mentioned it here so ill post this here lol

I'll start from the beginning... THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE SOLD OUT OF HYUNDAI DEALERS!!! the salesmen and the rest of the team were terrible!!! the guy was trying to do more of the typical sell you a car routine rather than talk about the product and show it off ( i used to sell cars *Porsche* so im pretty picky lol) the dealership did not look presentable and they had the g70s plopped in some random location out in their lot. It will be really hard for me to buy a G70 from a Hyundai dealership like thats how bad this experience was for me and it didn't just end there but ill touch on that ina bit.

So they guy walks me to the back of their horrible looking, randomly placed, unorganized lot and BOOM there it is, first time view in person and wow, the damn this is beautiful. i have my fiance next to me and i look over at her when i lay my eyes on it and she whispers to me " stfu your showing your excitement" haah i taught her well. i look at every inch of the car and it beautiful all around. right off the back i like the sport grill better than none sport grill, the chrome grill just doesn't do it for me at all. the rear end i was always iffy about looking at it in pics but in person it grew on me really fast. i open the door ( felt really solid opening and closing) and first thing i do is touch everything ! every surface is touched by me because i heard so much about fit and finish and yeah everything feels really good. the soft touch material, the aluminum trip pieces felt really good as well. the seats felt great! and by far the biggest part to me, I LOVE QUILTED STITCHING ! good size trunk as well and yes the back seats are tight but besides the foot room under the seats in the front they do well in space overall, and heated in the back which is good although i know that's pretty common in this vehicle category. the buttons all feel really good, good quality not to plastic cheap feeling and most importantly not to much piano black, very little in this car and im very happy about that. overall, great interior!

now the part everyone most cares about, THE TEST DRIVE! now remember above when i said " It will be really hard for me to buy a G70 from a Hyundai dealership like that's how bad this experience was for me and it didn't just end there but ill touch on that ina bit." yeaaah heres that part. so the guy go puts gas in the car and when he gets back tells me to get in and get the seat and mirrors set up to my liking , ok great but wheres the walk around. the guy didn't explain nothing of the car and present nothing of the features, complete disappointment. so we go on the test drive and it was the MOST DISAPPOINTING PART OF IT ALL! THE CAR SUCKS, DIDN'T DRIVE WELL AND WAS SLOW AF.... haha just kidding. the car drove really good! drove it in sport mode, road feel is good and the steering is as well. the bad part was the dumb f****** salesmen decided to do traffic city driving so i only got the car to about idk 45 MPH! had no room for hard launches or nothing sporty or exciting to do so i basically didn't get to drive the car how i wanted or the way it needs to be driven lol so i cant say how fast or torquey the car is. SUPER PISSSED ABOUT THIS! but from what i got it felt really good and put a smile on my face. btw guys i currently have a 15 mustang gt performance pack with minor upgrades so im pushing to the wheels 420 whp and 370 lbs/torque. but i was so upset with the fact that the salesmen didn't give me the chance to drive the car the way i should have when we got back i told him me and my fiance were going to talk about something. he said hell meet us inside and when he walked away, got in my car and left. couldn't stand being there for one more second. so that's how it was guys lol if anyone has any questions shoot away. ill post some pics i took during it all, not that it matters but i test drove the dark blue one because it had the red quilted interior.

^ Thanks for the review. You should send a message to the dealer and Genesis about your experience, hopefully things will change.

Nice. Shame about the test drive. Opening it up is the best part!!!

One of your pics is the Siberian Ice I believe. What were your thoughts on that color?

the first 2 pics are of of Siberian Ice, and i went directly to those cars to take pics just for you @Beefer haha, i love it tbh. it really is a unique color. i can def see the light blue in it. the cars were dirty and the sun wasnt really out so im sure it looks ever better in better conditions. and yeah i really wanted to drive the car like really drive it but wasnt able to and super bummed about that.

Concerning the V6 vs the 4, I chose the V6 because of it’s ultra-responsive and lively feeling, not so I could win drag races or set lap time records. Like the excellent handling, it’s just part of the overall driving experience. I certainly could get from point A to point B just as well with less HP, it just wouldn’t be as enjoyable. I agree that in bumper-to-bumper traffic, HP makes no difference at all but, fortunately, a lot of my driving is not of that variety. Hope yours isn’t either.

The dealers in North Carolina have gone silent and will not respond to emails any longer...at first they were hopeful back in September about having the vehicle 'in a few weeks', and now nothing. I wish they would at least respond and say there is no new news...but they won't even do that. I guess in this case, no response IS the response, which makes me reluctant to deal with them at all going forward. I have leased 5 Infiniti vehicles in the last 18 years...loved every single one of them, but their dealerships were crap...and they kept getting crappier. On 3 separate occasions they damaged my vehicles to the point of needing to go to the body shop for repairs. After the last time, when my lease was up, I walked away. I have also leased Lexus and Mercedes in this same time period, and the Lexus dealerships are by far the most impressive. The dealer experience is of equal importance in my mind, and I think it will take Genesis some time to get established to make a mark. Right now, with their current mode of behavior, I am not impressed.

Depressing to hear about the lack of response from NC dealerships. I haven't checked lately with the dealer I've been talking to because I trust that they'll get in touch with me when they have new information.

Also, really surprised with your dealership experience with Infiniti. I've used the dealership in Apex (Crossroads) for the past three or four years and have had an excellent experience with them from start to finish. Great sales experience and service experience. I will say, though, that the Crossroads Infiniti in Raleigh was a different story. I went there when shopping for my first Infiniti and left without a purchase. Flow, in Winston-Salem, sold me the same exact car (as in same VIN) for considerably less, delivered it to my home, and was generally a great place to deal with. Too far for service, though. Fortunately, that car didn't need anything that I couldn't get done at local independent shops.

The Genesis folks I've been talking to are Johnson in Cary. They've been very professional and courteous. They haven't had a lot of information but what they've said has generally been accurate. They told me last month that late October or early November was the best they could expect. So far, that still seems to be feasible although time is running out fast. If they can get the cars, I'd prefer to deal with them as they've been good folks so far.

Yeah, I agree. I want the car to be capable beyond how it's likely to be used. I want brakes that can do a better job of stopping me than I'll likely need and acceleration that will do a better job of propelling me than I'll probably need.

There are daily situations, at least in my driving environment, when better acceleration is important and contributes to safety. Pulling into traffic from a side street, being able to get up to the speed of the cars on the main street quickly is less disruptive of the overall traffic flow. In a car with less acceleration, it's often necessary to wait for a huge gap between cars before pulling out whereas in a quicker car, it's easy to pull safely into a traffic gap that isn't as huge. On older highways (pre-Interstate roadways, for example) there is often too short an on-ramp for traffic to flow on smoothly. People end up stopping at the end of the on-ramp to wait for a gap in the traffic. With better acceleration, you don't have to wait forever to be able to merge into traffic at the speed at which it's traveling. This even happens on Interstate on-ramps when timid drivers stop at the end of the ramp before pulling onto the highway. Passing on the three-lane roads (center passing lane) we have around here is another advantage of better acceleration. Get behind a hay wagon on a road with relatively short sight distances and you're stuck there for the duration if you can't accelerate quickly in the space that's available and affords a good line of sight to oncoming traffic. There's also a road near my house that has two lanes in the southward direction that merge into a single lane. Being able to accelerate briskly is very beneficial there.

And, we have plenty of twisty roads where short bursts of acceleration is perfectly safe and a whole lot of fun. I've had cars with different acceleration proficiencies from miserable to great and, without a doubt, I've enjoyed those with better acceleration a whole lot more.

I can find Genesis' license in North Carolina but have not found any licensed dealers, could have missed them though.

Hey...what is the search page for NC again? Cannot find it. Perhaps you have to search like in VA. The VA one you have to search for different parts like address and owner name...not just dealer name. Boy they messed that one up.

It is just the general SOS search for businesses, not specific to dealers. North Carolina Secretary of State Search

6-speed manual transmission.
Ok, that's definitely something that you can't get in the 3.3T. However, that's only going to be like maybe 5% of people, if that.

Basically the points listed below.

I had a local Hyundai Dealer return my call this morning, and their General Manager said it will likely not be until Christmas until the Genesis licenses are approved in NC and that G70s will be available for sale.

.

yeaaah heres that part. so the guy go puts gas in the car .

I would bet he put regular low grade !! LOL And you need to control the situation IMO. YOU tell him where you want to drive if he wants your business. I would never let some idiot take me into a city. If they did that to me.. I would just say lets turn around and forget it if I can't really drive this thing.

well i was in a area i never been before and i instructed him as soon as the test drive began to take me to highway and he said he will, went on route 9 and found myself back at the dealership and when he instructed me to turn in i literally said out loud "i wasnt even able to really drive the car that was not enough" still asked me to park and we then exited the vehicle. it was a really shitty experience.

Not sure whether you are or not but he may have thought you were not a serious buyer and just there to drive it.

Yeah I hear you.. and screw that. If you must go back to that place.. call before.. ask for the manager and tell him your experience and to assign you to a qualified individual who is not a total nitwit.

i used to sell cars, giving someone an experience based on your belief that they are a serious buyer or not is 100% NOT the way to handle customers as a salesmen. you treat everyone as if they are spending top dollar because it doesn't matter the amount of the car, they are buying and thats all that matters. i wasn't buying the day i went to go see the vehicle, but if it was a good experience i would have went back when i was ready to buy, now that wont happen at all and he and that dealer can go kick rocks

yeah im for sure not going back there ever again
