  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

US dealers who actually have the G70 available for sale.

Alright so as i stated on Friday I was taking a trip to Herb Connolly Genesis in MA which is a 90 min drive, now im not sure if i should post this here or not but i mentioned it here so ill post this here lol

I'll start from the beginning... THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE SOLD OUT OF HYUNDAI DEALERS!!! the salesmen and the rest of the team were terrible!!! the guy was trying to do more of the typical sell you a car routine rather than talk about the product and show it off ( i used to sell cars *Porsche* so im pretty picky lol) the dealership did not look presentable and they had the g70s plopped in some random location out in their lot. It will be really hard for me to buy a G70 from a Hyundai dealership like thats how bad this experience was for me and it didn't just end there but ill touch on that ina bit.

So they guy walks me to the back of their horrible looking, randomly placed, unorganized lot and BOOM there it is, first time view in person and wow, the damn this is beautiful. i have my fiance next to me and i look over at her when i lay my eyes on it and she whispers to me " stfu your showing your excitement" haah i taught her well. i look at every inch of the car and it beautiful all around. right off the back i like the sport grill better than none sport grill, the chrome grill just doesn't do it for me at all. the rear end i was always iffy about looking at it in pics but in person it grew on me really fast. i open the door ( felt really solid opening and closing) and first thing i do is touch everything ! every surface is touched by me because i heard so much about fit and finish and yeah everything feels really good. the soft touch material, the aluminum trip pieces felt really good as well. the seats felt great! and by far the biggest part to me, I LOVE QUILTED STITCHING ! good size trunk as well and yes the back seats are tight but besides the foot room under the seats in the front they do well in space overall, and heated in the back which is good although i know that's pretty common in this vehicle category. the buttons all feel really good, good quality not to plastic cheap feeling and most importantly not to much piano black, very little in this car and im very happy about that. overall, great interior!

now the part everyone most cares about, THE TEST DRIVE! now remember above when i said " It will be really hard for me to buy a G70 from a Hyundai dealership like that's how bad this experience was for me and it didn't just end there but ill touch on that ina bit." yeaaah heres that part. so the guy go puts gas in the car and when he gets back tells me to get in and get the seat and mirrors set up to my liking , ok great but wheres the walk around. the guy didn't explain nothing of the car and present nothing of the features, complete disappointment. so we go on the test drive and it was the MOST DISAPPOINTING PART OF IT ALL! THE CAR SUCKS, DIDN'T DRIVE WELL AND WAS SLOW AF.... haha just kidding. the car drove really good! drove it in sport mode, road feel is good and the steering is as well. the bad part was the dumb f****** salesmen decided to do traffic city driving so i only got the car to about idk 45 MPH! had no room for hard launches or nothing sporty or exciting to do so i basically didn't get to drive the car how i wanted or the way it needs to be driven lol so i cant say how fast or torquey the car is. SUPER PISSSED ABOUT THIS! but from what i got it felt really good and put a smile on my face. btw guys i currently have a 15 mustang gt performance pack with minor upgrades so im pushing to the wheels 420 whp and 370 lbs/torque. but i was so upset with the fact that the salesmen didn't give me the chance to drive the car the way i should have when we got back i told him me and my fiance were going to talk about something. he said hell meet us inside and when he walked away, got in my car and left. couldn't stand being there for one more second. so that's how it was guys lol if anyone has any questions shoot away. ill post some pics i took during it all, not that it matters but i test drove the dark blue one because it had the red quilted interior.

Thanks for the photos. I’ll post the Siberian Ice photos on that thread, also.

Would you agree that the stiched quilted Nappa seats look much better in person than in the photos? Mine and most photos of the seats always make them look gray, not black.

I am glad you saved me the trouble of going down there. You might want to take a look at Nashua Hyundai. Much better experience/atmoshpere, although not perfect, of course. The 6 or 7 Genesis's that they have (5 G70s and 1 or 2 G80s) were either parked inside the "separate" Genesis showroom (basically a walled off section of the main showroom) or together just outside of the showroom. Salesman was pleasant enough (Frank) and did know enough about the car. Obviously, people from this forum are likely to be better informed than most salespeople. He offered a back road or highway route and was generally respectful. No sales pressure or unnecessary questioning. He knew I was interested in either a 3.3T Sport or Dynamic, though, which they do not have.

Curiously, the dealer that can’t sell cars actually has a really good service department and the dealer with a great sales department has mediocre service. Strange but true. 😮

"Generally" sales & repair departments are run almost like separate companies. Sales will often say you won't get good service or loaners if you don't buy from us, but that just isn't the case. Either Corporate tells service to do it, or Service just doesn't give a damn where you bought the car.

Obviously, there are some low quality Hyundai dealers who are doing a bad job selling and servicing Genesis. We’ve had our own bad service experience with a new Hyundai/Genesis dealer who’s recently opened very near us. Took our G90 to them for service and they curbed a wheel. They didn’t say a word, just crudely sprayed the wheel with non-matching silver paint and returned the car, hoping we wouldn’t notice. I later found out that they had NO Genesis certified technicians. There were other problems as well that we eventually managed to get resolved. Bad dealer.

However, there are also good Genesis dealers. Some very good. One of them is Jim Ellis here in Atlanta. Here’s a summary of our recent G70 purchase:

We called to ask if they had G70s in stock. They did not but said they were expecting them in 3 or 4 days and would call us when they arrived. They called 2 days later and said they had 4 G70s ready with about 10 more being prepared and would be pleased to show them to us. When we arrived at the dealership, a sales coordinator assigned us a Genesis Experience Manager by the name of Aaron who then did a nicely professional, low key assessment of our needs and interests and quickly produced a black 3.3T Prestige model for us to test drive. My wife and I each drove the G70 over their recommended course which involved expressways, winding back roads and rough roads that included crossing railroad tracks. We decided that model was exactly what we wanted but preferred dark blue. There were no dark blue G70s in stock yet so Aaron had an Adriatic Blue G80 brought around so we could confirm that was the color we were looking for. Next Aaron got together with his management, located the car we wanted at another dealer and arranged an inventory swap. We then settled on price and finalized the deal - about 2 hours start to finish. Aaron delivered the G70 to our house the next day. I believe Jim Ellis is one of the dealers who understands what Genesis has in mind.

^ Thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like a great experience and hopefully all Genesis dealers strive to give that experience to all customers.

Did you get it under MSRP?

LTH - Aren't they all like that? Hopefully some other Hyundai dealers will cut out your note and pin it to the noses of their sales people. fwiw, we have a Kia dealer nearby, but no Hyundai dealers. A few months ago, I went to the local Kia dealer and said I was interested in a Genesis, where they going to get them? He said, "No, and Kia is a better car anyway."

I hate to say it, but when I go to a 'regular', non luxury brand car dealer, I smell sleaze. Does that stuff actually sell cars?

Yes but single scrolls could be parallel or sequential. :drive:
Yes, but the Genesis V6ltt are not sequential. As was identified earlier.

Looks like Henderson just dropped the price on one a little over $2k under MSRP. On their website it still appears at MSRP though.

Just wait until these things are sitting for about another month or two lol. Genesis will start with the incentives + dealer discount and then the fun can begin.

I believe I was able to negotiate a good deal but don’t feel right about “penalizing” the dealer by disclosing the exact numbers. We’ve got a whacky system for car pricing in this country but looks like we’re stuck with it for now. Saturn tried another method but failed. Tesla seems to be making headway on a saner no-discount approach but, until things change, I guess we need to keep playing the game. I can only say that we got the top of the Black Book range for our flawless 6400 mile 2017 G90 and a significant discount from MSRP on the G70. There were no exorbitant fees of any kind in the deal.

Iand a significant discount from MSRP on the G70

Totally understand not wanting to answer this and will respect if that is the case but since significance is different to different people can you say whether it was over or under $2,500?

Sorry, I cannot.
