  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I've never seen a forum like this where buyers refuse to share the purchase price details. Every other forum I'm on - there's a dedicated section for sharing that info.

We have one for the G70 and also the G80, maybe even the G90. Unfortunately the G70 buyers are tight lipped and end up leaving when pressed for details.

I agree. The 2018 Honda Accord forum thread I've followed is especially organized, with a checklist of info to provide and no discussion posts allowed that would dilute the intended content of the thread.
10th Gen Accord Price Paid Thread -- post price data only; not a comment thread

I'm assuming it has to do with the fact that there are so few (US) G70 owners out there, and only a couple who have shared pricing info, so there isn't the comfort of a bunch of people having gone before you.

Either way, no reason to be disrespectful. This recent buyer in particular didn't post to brag about his purchase; he only posted because I asked.

I'll be more than willing to share if I scoop one this weekend. Originally I wanted a 3.3T with Red Stitching, but with dealers barely budging on MSRP right now, that's putting me more in the 2.0T Elite or Dynamic range. I'll might pay MSRP price if the out the door price will be the same as the MSRP listed (41k for Elite, 45k for Dynamic). I drive 30-45 minutes a day on my commute round trip, usually in slow traffic, so the 2.0 seems more justifiable, since I'd rarely be able to take advantage of the power gains in the 3.3.

Of course part of me wants to wait until discounts inevitably happen and I could more easily afford a 3.3T, but the cars are available in my area, and I'm impatient. The 2.0 will be plenty quick on my daily commute, gets better gas mileage, and perhaps less long-term maintenance costs with one less turbo to worry about? I've had an angel on my left shoulder and a devil in my right yapping in my ear all week about it, especially since I have a perfectly fine low mileage Genesis Coupe right now.

You could’ve stopped with “I’ve never seen a forum like this “

If you've got a perfectly good working car, wait until discounts. The patience hurts, but when you get a G70 for 5k+ below sticker price, you'll thank yourself.

I'm definitely going to shoot for that $5k off right now - can't hurt to try! I can wait patiently (as I've been forced to do already with the poor roll-out). I've been going back and forth on the 2.0T vs 3.3T, weighing the pros and cons. I think I'd regret going for a 2.0T Sport now (at ~MSRP) vs waiting for a 3.3T Sport at the 2.0T pricepoint.

I've asked for 4k-5k off MSRP on a 3.3 at two dealers. One said the only discounts they can do is the 1k if you currently own a Genesis or competitive brand. The other said "let's give it some time then".

Good luck with that. You'll probably easily wait into the new year.

Side note...I started to talk numbers with these guys. Without even pushing...they dropped MSRP by $1k. I probably could have gotten another $500 if I pushed really hard.

That's true, and what the 😇 on my left shoulder has been telling me. Maybe they'll have some deals closer to the holidays or Black Friday specials.

Nothing wrong with that overall. Sometimes though, people get special deals because the buyer is having an affair with the sales manager or maybe some other merchandise changes hands. I can see some circumstances that are best not revealed.

If the finance manager seduced me I'd not tell. Besides, she was tool old.

I'm lost on this comment. They should hire people to help the states? You mean they should go to the appropriate statehouse and help?
Yes--it's called doing what it takes to get your car ready to sell. Most large corporations do this. They employ lawyers, lobbyists, palm greasers and facilitators to help market and sell their products based on the various laws of the countries they sell in. With the US of A being the largest market in the world, you would think they would place a priority there. Of course it doesn't help that they can't even figure out what they're doing with their own dealers.

And you know how that Genesis has not done any of this? You must really be connected.

I was going to purchase out of Nevada and register in CA but the dealer said they could not sell to CA as the CA DMV does not recognize the brand yet. I received an email from Henderson Genesis today saying CA DMV is close and he should be able to sell to CA residents "soon".

They are screwing around with you. They probably just don't want to make the sale because it is extra work for them due to the taxes and out or state processing. There is no such thing as a state not recognizing a manufacture for registration as far as I can tell.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Then again, we are taking CA. LOL. Maybe for taxing reasons or something they don't have them in the system and that is what the dealer is referring to. We have had a number of people report that their insurance companies do not have the G70 in their system. Maybe give the DMV a call to verify that they are set up with the G70.

Congrats on the purchase. Don't need specifics on your deal but since you've been through the process do you have any recommendations on what we should be targeting off of MSRP?

MSRP is about $2500 above Invoice (dealer’s cost). I’d say for an off the street buyer (no previous purchases from same dealer), you could expect about $1500 under MSRP. Then there’s the $1000 (potential) conquest discount on top of that.
Just my opinion of course, your milage may vary.
Good luck!

1) Well What was it?
2) Why can't anyone else get it (Why are you special - do you work for Hyundai or know the dealer or something?)
3) What sale price do you think is realistic for the rest of us?

1. None of your effin business.
2. I said “yet”. Maybe everyone will eventually get my deal or better. And yes, I’m special (today)! 5th Genesis, 8 cars total from same dealer. What’s your history like?
3. Answered in reply to other poster.
