  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

That would explain a lot. Because of dealer issues (law suits) they are not shipping 19's until they are settled. Hmmmm. Maybe not a good time to purchase one of these autos.

I would say if you don't need one right away and you don't mind getting a 2018, wait it out and see how the discounts look after the 2019s start shipping to your state. Right now they are only being sold, or at least put up for sale, in 8 states. Your state could be next week or it could be January, if you don't have the immediate need you might as well wait it out. :encouragement:

Yes. I agree! My current car runs and works beautifully. The thing is this is a temporary situation and as soon as the 19's come out the 18's are a year old and you are loosing your ass on one if you paid even close to full price now. I would rather wait and get a 19 if I can't get a good deal on an 18.

Put it this way, i got a Genesis 3.8 Ultimate (2015 version) which i bought on June 2016... I got $14.000 off sticker price because the 2016 where out on the lot.

Living in Vegas, any idea how to tell when the 2019’s are coming to Nevada? And here I thought I was smart to wait until the end of November or December.

How much should I expect to get off a 2018 G80 Sport? What would be considered a good deal. MSRP is $58,825.

Probably going to depend on whether the 2019s are currently being sold in your state and if the dealer is going to be a Genesis dealer in the future. I would think you should be around $54 or less. They are also currently offering $5,500 in lease cash so if you are leasing you should be able to get a pretty decent deal. Here is a link to the Edmunds lease forum for more details.

Take the lease no matter what. You can always buy it out with either cash or refinance after a month and you get the $5,500 to boot.

Then I would say you should be $50k or below. Of course that is just an opinion, I don't have any recent sales data to back that up.

Are you talking with the lease cash? Just as a data point Genesis of Cherry Hill quoted me $52,825 (before lease cash) for a 2018 G80 Sport demo with almost 3k miles. This price included a $3,850 dealer discount and $2,000 in dealer rebates. This didn't seem like much of a dealer discount to me at all.

No, I have been talking about the price prior to leasing. The last time I looked at Truecar the avg paid was around $54-55k. Since some time has passed and the new models are out I would expect that number to drop. You can see some examples earlier in this thread from last Spring where people were in the low $50s

Thanks! Glad to know I wasn't being ridiculous with my expectations about the discount they were offering one with almost 3k miles.

I based these price targets on RWD. Add an additional $1300 to $1800 based upon geographic loacation and avabililty for AWD models.

Based upon the attached documents and my experience buying a 2018 G80 sport in May. This is what one should expect to pay:

A never been titled 2018 G80 Sport with over 1500 miles $43-44k devoid of any taxes/fees/reg/etc.
A never been titled 2018 G80 Sport with less than 1500 miles $46-47k devoid of any taxes/fees/reg/etc.

Other variables include if they will be a sand alone Genesis Dealer, stock, and 2019 models if any.

How does the lease deal work? I don't understand it?

How does the lease deal work? I don't understand it?

If you are talking lease cash then it is an amount that will reduce your cap cost (in some cases I guess you can actually take cash but we will ignore those). For example, let’s say you come to a sales price (we’ll say car and fees but could just be the car) of $50,000 which would be you cap cost. If there is lease cash offered then that amount would be reduced by the lease cash. In this example a lease cash of 3,000 would make your cap cost $47,000 and that is what will be used to determine your lease payments given the money factor and residual value for the lease. Hopefully I explained that correctly given your question.

Makes sense. Thanks.

How can you find out what incentives the dealer is getting or has to offer? In other words how do you know that the dealer is getting $5500 in lease money on a G80 Sport? I was at a dealer the other day trying to buy a car and they did not tell me what their incentives were. The best offer they made me was a lease offer though.

The best place is Edmunds (link below). There is a difference between dealer incentives and lease cash. The incentives could be money that Genesis is giving the dealer too see and hopefully pass along to the customer. The lease cash "comes" straight to you when you do the lease to reduce the cap cost. I think where trying to get a price you shouldn't even talk about how you going to pay for it (finance or lease) just agree on a price. Then you can see what is being offered for lease cash, if anyhting.

For November, the lease cash has gone up to $6,000. Best would be to create an account there and ask for you specific location (although I think Genesis numbers are nationwide), trim and lease terms. You can also ask them if there were any dealer incentives, they usually know.
