  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Beef's G70

Interestingly, I had the exact opposite impression of Genesis of Alexandria. In fact, of all the out of area dealerships I interacted with, Alexandria was by far the worst. I felt like I was dealing with a stereotypical used car salesman and dealership.
Maybe we need a scoreboard to track them.

Honestly...of all the many dealers I have called...I ONLY chose to interact with either the GM or owner. Worst case a sales manager. No time to fvck around ;)

Ed, you know as well as anyone else; a good, neutral or bad dealer is simply is one individuals personal opinion. What is bad to one person, is not necessarily so for another. Opinions vary as much as the wind. Some are well founded and others not so much.

Enjoy Beefer and just a friendly word regarding Genesis and the warranty. Check with the dealer before doing any modifications such as exhaust, etc. They may not have any problem at all but don't tell them you may be installing a piggy back ECU. Genesis/Hyundai are a funny about their leasing and warranty requirements for any of their vehicles.

Tuner is easy, as it a piggy back device, just remove it before a required service. No ability for them to detect it. Bolts ons are a bit easier of course.

Well, if you'd like, I can go into detail as to why I felt that they were so greasy, I needed to take a shower every time I finished a phone call with them.

They are the ones that originally marked that one car up $5k. From the story we got, they only moved it back down to MSRP after the owner found out about it due to a review posted online. I have a feeling that the staff is not following the example of the owner. He wishes to provide the Genesis experience, they want to sell cars.

Quite a contrast in opinions of the same dealer. I find it hard to believe the owner did not know they were marking up 5k over list. Would be good if others check in over time.

Since the owner has been very straight-up with Beefer, I take him at his word. In his response to alabaaster he said: "I appreciate very much the detail you set forth in your comments,
especially with respect to the pricing. I am in Korea for meetings at
the moment, but based on your comments - especially with respect to the
pricing of the G70 in question - was able to call back to the states and
review this with the individual that runs that department. I instructed
him to correct the pricing immediately. Additionally, when I’m back in
the states, I’ll be meeting with all personnel involved in this matter
to ensure we never have a sales experience such as this."

G70 US Availability?

I saw that, but I'm still skeptical. If this is a situation where the guy owns 10 or 20 dealerships (not uncommon), he may not be aware. If it is a one horse show, I don't know that a sales manager would do that big a premium without at least a brief conversation with the boss over coffee.

It would be smart of them to take care of a potential customer like Beefer because they know he is spreading the word, good or bad, about G70 and dealers. Until a review hit, they did not know about ablabaaster and maybe figured a quick extra buck. I've seen bad situations go on for a long time until a review or letter to the editor sheds light on it. In this situation, it may be by two members here that did it.

Over time, it will be interesting to see what others find if they visit the showroom.

Give it a freaking rest with your arguing dude.

The ower did apologize to her...and I discussed it with him as well.

So stop.

Congrats Beefer. I am sure you won't regret it. I am over 6 months in and still no buyers remorse or second thoughts which has almost never happened with me. Even now driving in freezing temps with snow on the ground, the car is still a blast! Enjoy!(y)

Congratulations Beefer.
You're going to love the cah.

Beefah,
Yeah, grew up and still work in Watertown. 5 blocks away from where the police found the Marathon bomber in the boat.
I now live near (Worcester) Woostah, MA. About 40 miles west of Bawstin,
and yeah, I love to eat lobstah and clam chowdah! :)

Great to see my American friends getting their G70s. Congrats -- Siberian Ice is a striking color. Enjoy your hot new sport sedan!

Thank you.

Beefer, have you decided on winter wheels/tires, or won't you need to worry about them where you live?

I'm not worried about it. We get snow here...but the city shuts down...LOL. I work from home. So if there is a bit of slush or very light powder...all is fine.

Now...if climate change is going at the pace it's at...yeah...I'll get a set of winter tires in a couple of years...LOL. Then get chains a couple after that.

I was thinking I could get by just avoiding driving in the snow, but more research shows that you cannot drive on these summer tires when the temperature is below 40 degrees. "Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle."

What?!?!?!? Holy crap. I mean...I drive around in 32° F weather all the time (no snow). Will I ruin the tires?!?!?!?
