  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

My advise would be - stay away from nice/flashy cars (such as Genesis).... those cars drives a lot of attention, even thief like them, lol

dereck,
My question was: Is there something about this car a that makes it more vulnerable to theft? Besides just being a flashy car that anyone performing a robbery would want to use in said robbery. In my wife's case, she left the garage door open with the key in the car.

What are everyone's thoughts on the fake vent pieces on the front quarter panels? For me they are neither good or bad in terms of making or breaking the exterior aesthetics; however, if I could choose I would probably go without them.

Already been through this...they are not fake. 100% functional.

What I don't like is when you start the car...the infotainment always lands on the "home" page...with left side being nav...and right side radio.

How can I prevent the home page from starting up. I want the Radio screen to always be there by default.

Drives me nuts. Yes...I know...start the car and hit the Radio button. One step too many in my book.

Huh, that's interesting. I was actually told at the dealership they did not serve any purpose. Maybe I misunderstood him. I'm assuming then that they are for cooling the brakes.

First off...never listen to salespeople...always come here first...LOL. I say that jokingly...but it's mostly true.

I think it's more for engine bay cooling...allowing hot are to exit somewhere.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Beefer here. It is my opinion that most, but not all, salespeople are not enthusiasts. They are learning from one source, while we are out there, (here) shaking the tree of knowledge, and getting information from multiple sources.

^ correct on all counts.

the vents help cool the engine bay.

and never trust a car salesperson. at no point in my last four vehicle purchases did the salespeople i dealt with know as much about the vehicles as i did - and i'm no rocket scientist. i'm not saying all auto salespeople are intentionally misleading buyers - but some do. i'm saying that many salespeople (in my experience) are simply ignorant and not adequately educated on the product they are selling.

don't get me started on real estate agents...

I noticed two things I do not like about the G70 when looking at them recently at my local dealer showroom. I feel these things are unacceptable for an almost $52,000 car. The first thing is the sound it makes when the door is closing. It sounds more like my Elantra than my Genesis R spec. Second, I do not like the way the lower door window sill trim is attached. It flexes way too much for such an expensive car. It appears there is some cost cutting going on here. It was very easy for me to flex this trim with my thumb.

The door could be more solid. I have to swing it harder than my Acura. Even my GXM told me that it would need more effort to shut than my Acura.

This is the first I have heard about thefts. Is there some special weakness in the G70 and/or Genesis that I have missed.

Broke into his house and took the fob. Works with any car if you have the keys.

Thank you, Ed. - - - There is a story that seems to be real about some sort of "magic amplifier box" that technological thieves can use to amplify the signal between your key inside your house and the car so that it will allow them to start and steal your car parked in the driveway.

I guess we need to store our keys in radio signal blocking safes.

Sigh.

Not sure if this was already covered but I'm used to the car auto locking when I turn off the engine, shut the door and walk away.

I was actually wondering if the G70 had this feature. My TLX has this and I love it. I don't have to use the key fob or press a button on the door handle. I just walk away and my doors auto lock.

Ya, I was surprised it's not an option...

That would be good as long as it is an option that can be set. I don't usually want the doors locked.

So...noticed something yesterday. Did a nice highway drive...about 12 minutes.

There is a lot of road noise. Radio off...all doors properly closed...windows closed...sunroof closed.

As I approach a car...I can start hearing the vehicle (tires, etc) from a solid 20 feet away.

If not passing any cars...I can completely hear the road...and air passing over the vehicle around my side mirror/window. Other places as well.

My last car was an 2013 Audi A4 Premium Plus. I thought the G70 was supposed to be close to silent inside....no?

I usually play the radio...so any white noise will wash out and I will get used to it. But I am just very surprised.

I'll see what others say...hopefully it's not some issue with just my car.

The doors need more sealing. Also maybe it needs side acoustic/laminated glass as well.
