  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

That's cool. I remember when I used to want a K900. Back then I was poor though and could have never afforded it.
The new one like looks fantastic. Unfortunately it is too big!

Finally saw a G70 with CA dealer plates on the 91 fwy in Anaheim Hills. Gray. Beautiful car. I could not wait and got a 2015 Genesis CPO last September which is a better car choice for us anyway in terms of size and price. Sure do like the G70 body style and overall stance.

FWIW, I live in LA and I got a voice message yesterday from a dealer in Glendale (close in suburb of LA) saying the G70 would arrive "in a few weeks".

While I'm here, curious to ask: I've been watching the listings on cars.com over the past two weeks or so (since I saw the suggestion here to do so -- thanks) and the listings don't seem to have changed much, if at all, over that time. Does that mean 1) dealers really use those listings just as a general ad for the dealership and don't update them frequently (in other words, the particular car listed may or may not actually be available/may have been sold) or 2) the car is not really selling fast? Neither? Both?

@SeekingGen G70's arrived @ Edmond yesterday! I plan on swinging by in the morning to FINALLY get to see 1 of these beauties in person
I did that yesterday at the local dealer here in Florida while my car was being serviced. I was very impressed with the cabin. Well appointed, nicely done and looks like quality.

Tried out the back seat too. The car on the showroom floor had the drivers seat all the way back. I could not swing my legs around and sit in back of it. With the seat up, it was OK. Depending on where the front seats are, it can range from impossible to comfortable.

One of the models was Siberian Ice. In the showroom, it was nice, not spectacular. I'd really like to see it outside in the sun, not under fluorescent lights on a cloudy day. Someone mentioned it was like a flat paint. I did not see that at all, it had a very nice gloss.

For a few reasons, right now it does not suit my needs. Back when we had two cars, it would have been at the top of my list.

Agreed... back seat room is my only concern. but then again, I'm only 5'6" so hoping it shouldn't be an issue with a family full of shorties lol
I did find it odd most reviews that complained about rear room all had seats pushed all the way back.

all the way back, and all the way down. if im traveling with anyone in the back i make sure to move the seat up so toes can fit

STATE OF THE CAR ADDRESS
It has been a little over a month since I have owned my Havana Red 3.3 AWD "Dragon" so I thought it expedient to provide an update with my thoughts and opinions. The easiest way I can think of doing this is to list the "PROs" and "CONs" as I see them. You will probably notice the CONs outweigh the PROs in number but trust me, the PROs account for a 90% overall weight.

PROs (listed in priority order)
1) Fun to drive. That's why we purchase a performance sedan-right? To FEEL the awesome performance, handling and braking. If we just wanted a commuter car then we would buy something more practical. A lot of people don't get this. A friend of mine asked me why I would spend so much on my car when I could get one like his for half the cost and it would still get me from point A to point B all the same. I feel sorry for sheeple who feel this way.
2) Performance. Yes, I already mentioned this in point one but it bears repeating. This car is seriously fast and handles superb with its LSD, torque vectoring, performance tires, twin turbo etc... Taking this car out on the flat or on a curvey mountain road is a joy. Speaking of flats, I think I will be taking this car out to the Salt Flats soon (like I have with all my cars and motorcycles) to give it a good test.
3) Design. This car looks better than anything else out there now and it helps that it is very unique (thanks fiasco rollout). I get lots of compliments and a lot of "what the hell is that?" In a selfish sort of way, I hope Genesis continues with its horrible rollout because I currently am driving the ONLY G70 in Utah (that I have seen) and we all know that scarcity is highly correlated to likability in addition to helping it not looking dated longer.
The design is luxurious yet aggressive and sporty and grown up appearance without looking like a "boy toy" Subaru with a silly ridiculous spoiler.
The colors the G70 offers are also top notch. Even the Siberian Ice color (which I have spoken out against) is by far the nicest of all the "primer gray" colors available. I rank the colors in this order: Havana Red, Mallorca Blue, Santiago Silver, Siberian Ice, Adriatic Blue, Himalayan Gray, Victoria Black and Casablanca White. For what it's worth, Mazda also gets it on color--they offer some very nice options. (I have never owned a Mazda) BMW, on the other hand, does not get it. I almost purchased a 440iX M trim last year but the white they offered was just plain white! No metallic, no pearl white--just plain boring white. Come on BMW! If I wanted plain, boring white, I would buy a Corolla or something similar.
4) Features. I love the interior cockpit controls for their beautiful design and ease of use. Please don't change this Genesis! I HATE cars (Tesla) that require you to use a touchpad for almost everything from turning on your lights to adjusting the volume on your sound system.
5) Genesis Connective Services. It is very nice to be able to remote start your car and have it warm up on a cold winter day. Heater goes on, steering wheel heats up but some odd reason, SEATS do Not warm up.
6) Heads Up Display. Very cool and adds a nice degree of safety too!

CONs (listed in priority order) If any of you have solutions on how to fix/improve these things, please let me know.
1) No Performance Exhaust! Come on Genesis! You design a serious performance sedan and don't offer (as an option at least) performance exhaust? BMW offers it (didn't you come from BMW Albert Bierman?) as does Mercedes and others and they sound great! Genesis (even with the fake exhaust turned on) is very quiet. If I wanted a quiet car, I would buy a Tesla. I want my neighbors to know when I am coming home (yes, I would be respectful and turn it down in early morning). One of my neighbors has an original Cobra Shelby and hearing that car coming and going is like music to my ears.
2) The "premium" Lexicon sound system is not that good. It's ok, but for a premium car, it should be better. The premium Bose system in my old Infiniti G35 is MUCH better. (I miss it)
3) Handling is a little squirrelly. The car tends to wander a bit on the straightaways cruising down the highway--constant adjustments need to be made. To be fair, it may be the tires--I will see how my summer tires behave when I swap them out.
4) Range is too short. How big is this gas tank? 14 gallons? The range of this car is about 300 miles--at 21 miles per gallon mileage that is 294 miles. Other similar cars I have had (with same mileage results) I could go around 350 miles between fill ups meaning the gas tanks were more like 16-17 gallons.
5) Small back seat and small trunk--ok whatever, I will never be in the back seat but I feel sorry for those who are. The engineers can't figure this out? No, I'm not asking for a full size car, i'm just asking for comparable space like other cars in this same class.
6) Trunk has auto open feature but no auto close? There should be a button or some way to close the trunk without having to do it manually (oh, the humanity!) and getting my fingerprints all over the trunk.
7) Seat Belt Warning Sound stays on until you put on your belt. This is probably a good thing but my other cars do not have this and sometimes I just don't want to wear my belt and don't need or want Big Brother screaming at me till I put it on.
8) OBNOXIOUS Warning light (Emergency Flasher) in the middle of the console. Wow, can this thing be in more in your face and obnoxious? Yes, I know what it is and its purpose but can we tone it down a bit?
9) No license plate holes engineered for U.S.A. So what do they do? The dealers have to DRILL holes in the trunk and attach screw anchors. Really Genesis? Isn't the U.S. of A worth a little bit of engineering so dealers don't have to resort to this sort of afterthought solution?
10) HUGE Key fob. WOW, that thing is huge and bulky. Please tell your 21st century engineers to cut that thing down to half that size. (like my other cars)
11) The center console is only one tier--most other premium cars I have had or seen have a two-tier storage system
12) The Boomerang on the side is tacky. I know some will disagree, but I feel premium, luxury brand like Genesis does not need to resort to such silly styling. It's a little juvenile.
13) Auto Wiper reading is backwards--it reads "high" when it is low and visa versa.

That's all I can think of for now. I hope this is helpful. If Genesis were smart (not counting on it) they would read these forums and comments like these and make their great cars even better.
Happy motoring!

That is not my experience at all. I check cars.com constantly for the dealer list and it is updated at least once a day sometimes more. Could be you are using some type of saved list/search or something. Make sure you are starting fresh each time.

Great write up. Sounds like you're really enjoying the car. Number 6 on your con list has been fixed in the new model for Korea so wouldn't be surprised to see it fixed here eventually. Hopefully they're checking out forums and such to see what people like and don't like for the rest of your cons.

We still know more than "they" do.

I'm here in Cal-land and just contacted 'my' local Hyundai/Genesis dealer to see if there has been any news on the local front. I specifically asked for the person who "knew what was happening with Genesis". He stated that his dealership had paid $10K to nail down the rights to sell Genesis but that California was still holding up the split from Hyundai to a standalone brand - Genesis.

Thanks for the reply. Good question. I don't have a cars.com account, so I go to the website and redo the search criteria every time I do it. (For me, that's G70, 2.0 TT, list by distance) I should specify that I don't look at any cars beyond 400 miles or so from me. Since I'm actually interested buying one, as a practical matter I can only devote a day to getting the car. I could fly to Vegas or Arizona and drive back the same day. So I'm only looking at the first 10 cars or so. After that, the listings are for Louisiana and Illinois, which doesn't interest me. So, yes, the same 5 or 6 cars have been at the top of my search for the past two weeks or so, at dealers in Nevada and Arizona. Maybe dealers in other states show changing inventory but I wouldn't see that.

That would make sense then since you are limiting the search to a handful of dealers and a specific model. Nationwide the inventory is constantly changing but with your limiting search criteria I can see how the results would be fairly stagnant.

I’m super jealous and getting anxious for Utah genesis to get it the fug together.

I’m nervous that the sloppiness of the G70 rollout will be symptomatic of their customer service and servoce experience.

The squirly handling and the small back seat are the only cons from your list that concern me.

I just learned Tulsa G70s arrived today. I had planned to drive to OKC tomorrow, and may still. Tulsa only got 5. including a manual and no 3.3 yet. They anticipate more.
Thanks for the info on OKC. Can't wait to hear how you like it!

IMO, replace "squirly" with "responsive" and "small backseat" with "reasonable for the segment".

I just sat in a Alfa Romeo Giulia and a Jaguar XE backseat at my local auto expo, and those back seats feel pretty much exactly the same as the G70.

Totally agree on both.

How does squirly even get used as an adjective on the car? The wider tires do want to tram line a tiny bit, maybe that’s it? Idk because as those old stupid commercials used to say...this thing is grounded to the ground

He's on winter tires.
