  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Dealers with plans for a separate building

Phoenix has 4 Hyundai dealerships. Chapman is building a separate Genesis store and it will be open May/June 2019. If they don't separate this model will go the way of the Equqas (sp). Our Hyundai dealerships have G70/80/90 on their lots and you can get a loaner when you take your car in for service. I believe they are in a make or break time with the brand, not sure they are going to make it..
Not going to happen overnight, but I'm confident they will make it. They have a lot of money behind them. Just look at what Hyundai did from their initial offering of the Excel.

This is a world wide company, not just the US. They do need and will soon have a couple of SUVs and eventually a sports coupe. The SUV opens a huge potential market.

As far as the Equus, it is still here and you are driving the descendant, the G90. Just a name change. I can understand your negativity since you had a problem with your car. Every manufacturer has has problems and probably will in the future.

Ed: I understand Hyundai is a world wide company. My husband a few years back was in Hyundai South Korea on business. A city of over 40,000 people is dedicated to all Hyundai products, not just cars. He buys power transformers from them. They have LG and many other brands. He was driven around in a Equus at the time and was very impressed with the vehicle and inquired if he could buy one in the US. At the time they were not available in the US. Because they are so large, their business plan of rolling out Genesis in the US is disappointing. After reading many other comments on limited services in other states/cities I feel fortunate to have the depth of Genesis vehicles and services available to me in the Phoenix area. I see move than 10 Genesis vehicles in my drives around the south east part of Phoenix. On a recent trip to Southern California I didn't see any on the freeways - but lots of Tesla's.

The ones that are strictly Hyundai, I’ll bet the Genesis are not 2019 models.

Chapman is Hyundai, and they are building a Genesis ready in June 2019 and their modles are 2019's. I drove one as a loaner a few weeks ago.

Actually Chapman is also a Genesis dealer. In order to be able to sell the 2019's they have to be franchised as a new Genesis dealer. Currently there are eight Genesis dealers in Arizona with a number of them in the Phoenix area.

Genesis of Apache Junction
Genesis of Flagstaff
Genesis of Gilbert
Genesis of North Phoenix
Genesis of North Scottsdale
Genesis of Peoria
Genesis of Scottsdale
Genesis of Yuma

So now that we have established that Chapman is a Genesis dealer and creating a separate Genesis area, what about the other three you wrote about. Do they have the 2019 models? If so what are their names?

2 Dealerships are Chapman, 2 Dealerships are Earnhardt, all 4 have 2019 models per the websites.

Only one I am aware that is building a separate facility is Chapman in the southeast area of Phoenix known as Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler. The other Chapman is on the west side of Phoenix and have no idea if they will be building a separate dealership. The Chapman I use has 2 certified Genesis techs. The Earnhardt dealership had the largest inventory and is where I leased my G90 from.

Not sure if I would have bought my '18 G80 Sport a year ago if I had realized the Genesis line is really just a Hynudai hobby operation. I certainly won't be upgrading to a SUV if/when they finally come out with the dealer situation we have out west (Washington).

That said, my G80 is the best car I've ever owned. From what I read here, there seem to be plenty of cars available on the Eastern Seaboard. Next year (Jan) I plan to drive my G80 from the Seattle area to Phoenix. That's a lot of miles without an available Genesis dealer near by.

I believe they are in a make or break time with the brand, not sure they are going to make it..

The point I am trying to make here is that Genesis is making big changes. Although they are not requiring a physically separate facility Genesis (only) dealers are required to have a differentiated showroom and only they can sell 2019 Genesis. Not Hyundai dealers. So you see they are making many of the changes that you are looking for.

What Hyundai dealerships are selling the G70?

I think she meant that the Genesis dealership was in the Hyundai building and not a separate building. Some folks who aren't as familiar with the situation as most forum regulars may not understand about the new Genesis franchising and how right now the new Genesis dealership is physically located in a Hyundai dealership.

I have been at Phoenix Chapman Hyundai as of a few weeks ago and they have G70's 2019's lined up in the lot.

Hyundai is selling 2019 Genesis out of a Hyundai dealership without a separate showroom for Genesis. However, this dealership is going to close and move to a new dealership in June 2019. I believe both Hyundai and Genesis will move together, but the new dealership location will have a separate showroom for Genesis - not 100% sure of the separate showrooms, but the old dealership is definitely moving to a new location a new building. This has been in the plans for Chapman for over two years, and was delayed because another Hyundai dealership in the area took action against them because they said they would be too close to the other dealership. It would be interesting to know where in the USA you can drive your Genesis and be able to get service if needed. Is there a Genesis certified tech map somewhere for owner's?

That is technically not correct. Hyundai is not selling the cars but rather the Genesis dealership at that Hyundai dealership. To many consumers it appears to be the same but there is a big difference since Hyundai dealerships that do not have a Genesis franchise can not provide warranty or included service for the 2019s and beyond nor sell them as new.

Here is a link to the current list of Genesis dealers with inventory and those who have been issued a code but not yet received the inventory,

No, Hyundai is not selling them, the Genesis dealer is. They may share facilities for now but on the books they are a different dealer.

Right now there are limited dealers in some areas but it will somewhat fill in. By the end of the year there will be about the same number of Genesis dealers as BMW dealers (341) Mercedes dealers (368). You'd probably now want to travel far in a Lamborghini (35) or Ferrari (46)

They already have more than Lexus who is showing 241 on 12/1/2018.

The list was eye opening. For Arizona -- As per the person who cannot get service in Tucson, there is no dealership in Tucson. As for the one in Apache Junction, their website states, only G80. Of this list, are any restricted to only certain models of the Genesis as in Apache Junction?

Horne? They are a new Genesis dealer and probably not completely organized yet. They are showing the cars on their Hyundai web page and that will eventually be changed too. Check back in a few weeks; they may have more inventory by then.

They are in Apache Junction (Arizona) and only service G80.

No restrictions on models, that was under the old Hyundai dealership rules. All those are Genesis dealers which allow them to sell all new models. As far as what models and how many is up to the dealer. As far as Apache Junction goes, they have a mix of all three models when looking at the inventory on Genesis.com. Quite a few dealers do not yet have the Genesis website up and running so what shows on the Hyundai site is many times not reflective of actual inventory,
