  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post purchase price details here (US $ only)

thanks guys. The dealer said it was NOT on the list but thought it would be. Not sure if they lied to keep the 1000 or just did not know. Yep, did the car max think already, but thanks. This is the deal I am think of offering the dealership...please let me know if you think is fair....

G70 2.2 awd is 36900

so price of car is 41900 but lets say 42000
add a 500 doc fee (they want 700) so 42500 now
take 1000 of MSRP and another thousand for conquest so 2000 off
so now at 40500
take 9000 off for trade in - kbb says 10500 and CarMax says 9000 so giving them CarMax price

total cost minus tax 31500
I'd definitely start with the higher trade-in value. (Which give you closer to the cushion Beefer mentioned.) You don't have to tell them about CarMax. Worst case scenario, you pull the "trade-in" and take it to Car Max for the cash.
Make them negoitate off of the KBB trade-in.
But, frankly, you don't have to outline the specific. You can say willing to pay $__ [out-of-pocket money] + the trade-in for the car;

Here was the original quote. Apparently the rebate went up in Feb. Signed Feb 4th. There were some dealer add-ons I agreed to later. One was $400 for interior insurance since I have the light interior with the Design Edition. Covers any damages, spills, and discoloration. $750 Acquisition fee was not accounted for either.
Can you use the Costco pricing on any car at any dealer? Like do you identify a particular car and the dealer has to honor this?

I think it is generally for a specific vehicle in the dealer's inventory and not all dealers participate. I have seen posts where people used it to build Audis and BMWs but that may have been out of the ordinary.

Generally its for any inventory at the dealership(special items aside ie. RS models or such). When I worked for Volvo, we had pretty much every deal from a Costco member.

Yes, that is what I meant by a specific vehicle in the dealer's inventory. You usually can't build a vehicle on a configurator and have them give you Costco pricing all of the time, right?

So, do I search inventory thru Costco or do I just ask the dealer that has the car if they participate in the Costco buying program?

I would do it on the Costco auto buying site, it should walk you through the process. Once you select what you want a dealer will contact you with the pricing and/or an offer for you to come in. Let us know how it turns out, not sure if we have had any/much feedback on Costco pricing.

Just walked out with new Design edition G70 3.3tt rwd. Traded in G80 Sport. My OTD was sticker of 51k but that included being 4k upside down. Definitely peppier driving and handling. If you want a smaller feeling and driving car then upgrade, if that doesn’t matter....finish up your lease then get one. But definitely get one. Does not feel anything like g80. Much better driving feel, tighter, stiffer/rigid, and quite a bit smaller. Just initial 1hr impression. Good luck everyone.

Be sure to share some pictures! I think you're the first one here to have the Design Edition.

Basically you find out if that dealership participates in a Costco buying program. You would then reach out to Costco and they would send you a form with a PIN that you would have filled out at the dealership. That sheet will also explain the discounts and what models they apply to.

Thank you Hyper!!

Nice combination!

Just offering this as a data point. I test drove a G70 last week and I was impressed enough with the car that I'm now ready to buy.

So I emailed the salesman who did the test drive with me and told him I'm waiting for my ideal G70: 2.0, RWD, elite trim, Adriatic Blue, black interior. With destination fee of $995, this car has an MSRP of $40,895.

I said I would pay $36,000 for the car right now. (I'm assuming I'll get $1k off because I currently have a Mercedes, thus final cost to me of $35k.)

Salesman's response: "Sounds good. Thanks."

Ha. So, now the waiting game as new stock arrives over the next few weeks.

^ That would be quite a bit more of a discount than we are seeing on the 3.3t Sports. I would think somewhere around $39k will be more doable. Let us know though, you may just get it.

Well, I believe in starting low and going up. In my opinion, car salespeople know that buyers come in two flavors 1) pretty much willing to pay MSRP, and 2) bargainers. I think they automatically treat bargainers differently, so my strategy is let them know right away you're going to bargain. It's important to note though, that as a bargainer you have a responsibility to be serious. When I say I'll pay $36k for the car that day if they'll give it to me, I have to be ready to write the check. That's the value you bring to the transaction. You're a real buyer. Otherwise you're wasting the salesperson's time.

However, I took it as a sign of something that the salesman showed no enthusiasm at all for staying in touch with me. Could be 1) they know the G70 just arrived so the first wave of buyers is very motivated and willing to pay a lot and/or 2) they know the first wave of cars is mostly 3.3Ts so a buyer who wants a 2.0T isn't really worth their time at the moment. The second part is just a hunch I have from keeping an eye on inventory that's arriving now.

Just bought a g70 3.3t rwd sport w/ red stitching in Siberian ice.

It was a demo car for corporate apparently so it had about 150 miles on it already.

Sticker was $50,495, but they messed up on the online ad and had it stated for $44,676 so that what I got it for. OTD price was around $49,423.... or something like that. California tax where I live was 8.4%.

pretty nice car...... I'll add pics later once I take them.

If you see a g70 in Siberian ice in OC that might be me lol.

^ Congratulations! Good luck, enjoy and be safe.
