  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sounds like a good way break in the car and hit those 600 miles

@Beefer, I doubt that it polls at intervals because the "updated time" on the app will be the last time you hit refresh regardless of when that was, at least from my experience
Just checked. No update since we had this conversation yesterday. I see no reason to update unless asked.

600 miles? I'm already at 5k.

So is there a way to disable this stuff from within the car? I honestly don't trust Hyundai (or any hardware company) to actually implement this in a way that's genuinely secure, and the idea of someone being able to locate, unlock, and start my car over the internet sounds extremely non-great. I didn't see anything in the manual, but am hoping I missed something.

I'm sure you can but it is not something published in the owner's manual. You can probably take a wire off the module. I don't know if you lose the Bluetooth on the phone or the navigation though.

BlueLink has been installed in many cars since 2012. Other makers use the same platform. I don't know of anyone being hacked yet so I'm not going to get paranoid about it. Given the amount of work to connect to your car I'd put my efforts into finding your bank account.

^^ Just have some good insurance and make sure your home address is set to somewhere else nearby. You'll survive...for now LOL

On another note, my phone just got an update for the Genesis Connected Services app and refreshing the status for my car is now much quicker (albeit it was at 6:13 AM PST). Just got to work, so no need to go testing all the other features, but I'll try to remember when I'm leaving so I can update on it from home.

What phone do you have? The Apple Store shows the last update was a month ago - Version 2.8.18

Galaxy Note 8 running the latest version/software/android available on Sprint (Android 9.1?)

The app looks like it got a little bit of a visual update and the update notes say "bug fixes and performance improvements"

Updated my Galaxy S8 right now. As @Soma said there are some visual changes but at least for me it took the same amount of time as the previous version for starting the car. Around 35 secs.

I just got an update for my iphone. Version 2.8.22

^ I'm pretty sure I read that the new Genesis models are 4G since the 3G network will be disappearing soon.

There was also a post I will try to find that talked about the remote commands and how they work. For both battery and network efficiency, the cars don't poll the sever but rather receive the remote command similar to getting a text message. Makes sense so this way thousands of cars aren't constantly sending messages to the servers but rather just sitting in wait mode to receive a command.

I'm curious if you found that article about whether they have 3G or 4G?

It wasn't an article but rather some other posts on here about Genesis using 4G since 2017. Makes sense since it has been known for quite awhile now that 3G is going to be gone shortly.

Here is a post from a guy who was told by Genesis that it is using 4G.

Just got off the phone with a person at "corporate" in Hyundai who's basically the last line of support there (so 3rd level or so) and he confirmed with me that he was told that the cars use 4G through Verizon for their Blue Link service (at least mine, the 2018 Genesis G80 Sport). It's actually very hard to find that information on the internet, so this very thread may end up being a source on that (specifically on the 4G part).

Yes I just got 2.8.22 also fo my iPhone.

This really makes me laugh. When you refresh the REFRESH button at the top of the screen it shows the time about one hour off of the time in Korea. Who QA’d that? If you press the B BlueLink button n the bottom of the screen it refreshes and corrects the time to local time.

Is it possible to remote start the G70 using the key fob or is that feature only through the phone app?

Amazon's echo or Google's device will remote start it verbally. If that's an option for you. It is for me
