  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alternatives to G70?

They did benchmark the C43 so it will probably be under 400 hp but who knows if they have 2 variants, with one matching the C63/RS4/M3 in performance.
I doubt that they could ever match that level of performance given the front heavy fwd transverse engine architecture. I know that their SH AWD is good but the rules of physics are what they are...

In order for Acura to be able to handle neutrally the whole time, you have to be on power all the time. Otherwise it will plough straight like any other FWD front heavy car!
So the only time you see the benefit of it and its competitiveness with the RWD based cars will be on the track or on fast and tight corners.
For daily driving, it will still feel like the A4 of old!

I mentioned the new TLX a few pages earlier.

I think what will be strong with the TLX will be 1) AWD, 2) space due to its bigger dimensions, and 3) value. For value, the RDX in comparison is really solid among compact crossovers. I don't even mean in the "cheaper than the Germans" sort of value but more like Genesis' "just as good for a lower price" value. It's solid in performance and luxury. The interior even has matte wood, and you'd be surprised at how much the competitors cheap out in the compact crossover segment.

A sorta X factor is that the TLX Type S could also have good performance out of its engine. We know it's a twin turbo V6, but there's a lot of variance among TTV6 engines that I don't fully understand. We have a solid engine like the G70's that has 365 HP (rated at that, at least), and then there are other TTV6's like the Audi RS5's with 444 HP and then the Quadrifoglio's Ferrari-based engine with 505 HP.

Isn't the Quadrifoglio a V8?

It'd be nice to see what the Type S brings to the table, but theoretically the A-Spec was supposed to be their car in C43/340i/G70 segment...it just kinda fell short. I want to see if they overshoot their benchmarks now to make up for it or if they drop the ball again

The Quadrifoglio is a V6TT (2.9L), but supposedly that engine was originally based on a pre-existing Ferarri V8.

Hopefully the A-Spec is performance related and not just facia like the current TLX!

I think the A-Spec will stay a visual package like the Lexus F-Sport, or at best better springs/roll bars/etc. Type S will likely be C43/M-Sport/S performance level, and having a spec between that and entry level would be a waste like making an engine between the G70 2.0T and 3.3TT.

Hope you're right. It seems like Acura really wasn't interested in performance for the last little bit there other than the NSX!
They even use a crappier Active Rear Differential now that really isn't performance oriented unlike the one in the 2nd Gen MDX and 4th Gen TL.
