2017/2018 radio swap in 2016 ultimate?

Might be more to be had... The sites on ebay rarely state specifics on whether it's jog wheel or not.

True, there are 1-2 others on eBay as of now but not as nice (new) as that one. I'm sure more will be listed over time but if this works we will all be on the hunt for them and will require verifying each one is the correct one.

Yep. The DISP/SETUP button to identify thing escaped me. Good info to know. Hopefully, it works out....

Exacally. There's one for $300 on there from a wreck and it's been exposed to the weather... o_O

Off the top of my head, it should not work. The CAN data to power it on is different, same for communicating with Bluelink and steering controls. Rear camera and BSD didn't change though.

Hope it does work out - if it doesn't, it could be worse. He's only out $150 & some time. As learning curves go, it's not all that steep.
 
Update!!! Install with both good and bad news.. 2 part video. Need your guys help!
 
be willing to bet that the amp isn't getting powered up, incorrect canbus signal or different amp/wiring.

you might need to source the amp from a 2018-2019 as well.


I would check the amp and see if it is getting power as my first step, the "beep" comes from the HU directly to the left front speaker, the music however needs to go through the amp. the HU is only a pre-amp.

amps are definitely different,

2015-2017 amp part number seems to be: 96370-B1050

2018-2019 amp part number seems to be: 96370-B1550 (non-sport model premium system ); 96370-B1600 (sport model)


not sure why the Sport model has a different amp than the non-sport, as I thought the Ultimate and the Sport has the same sound system, but apparently they don't

it is not the base sound system, that part number is completely different as well.

I suspect if you can figure out how to power up the amp everything will likely work, though it would be interesting to see the CANBUS data and what errors are traveling on the BUS.

Oh! You have a Lexicon amp? Need to set Lexicon in the head unit settings- even if the amp part is different it will probably still kick on. You've already crossed the bigger hurdle which was it accepting the BCM trigger on signal. Jump into dealer mode or engineering mode and set the options there. Look under Variant Programming.

So I would venture to guess that if he doesn't have the Lexicon amp and this HU came from a Lexicon car, he needs to disable it?

Dealer mode" (engineering mode lite) can be accessed by:
Go to the home screen.Click "Settings", Scroll to the bottom and click "System Info", Tap and
hold on the circle in the center of the menus (the one with the arrows on it).
This is a very scaled down subset of the full engineering mode, but I haven't yet found a way in the UI to access that.
Each of the available functions is protected by a PIN code. Here are pin codes (including some for functions that aren't visible):
software: 1358
hardware: 4763
dynamics: 0716
update: 4590
logsetting: 4259
autotest: 4260
password: 0428
variant: 6172
diagnosis: 5173
mapcaremode: 3649

Did they disable the engineering Bluelink+Menu+RightSideTrack combo in the G80? I haven't had an Ultimate G80 to test it on.

Reboot the system after setting MOST and Lexicon. Easiest to pull the SD card out of the map slot and put it back in.

May need to turn off the car and wait 5 minutes for CAN to shut down too.

I think you want plain DH, but not sure what the DH | PE stands for.
