If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know where to go to get the emblems for the V8 with 18" wheels? A while back, I checked online (Ebay) and found a couple of vendors, but unfortunately, did not buy. Today when I went on, only one vendor has the emblems, priced at over 3 the price I'd seen before. Does anyone know where else to look?

Cheapest price I found. Took about 2 weeks from order to delivery by UPS ground. The transaction is a little strange. (A thread is in the appearance section). I e-mailed the contact at koreautoworld and a paypal request was sent with another name on the paypal account. I assume due to a small business. Person I exchanged e-mails with was Justo. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the info. I did find the KAW site with the lesser price. I still think that when I looked before, I saw them at a lower price. (Yes, I know that the price for the 18" inserts for the V6 is demonstrably less.) Speaking of that, why in the world is there such a discrepancy in the prices of the two? Is one metal and the other plastic? Also, I want to change out the emblem on the steering wheel. While the paste on one would be easier and dramatically less expensive than the airbag cover, it obviously doesn't look as nice. Has anyone out there done the airbag cover conversion, and if so, how hard is it to accomplish? Also, do you know if changing the cover out invalidates the warranty? Thanks to all who weigh in.

I've done the airbag conversion and I have to be honest.....It is very simple. Moe gave me a few tips and presto! I was done in 20 minutes. Just disconnect your battery terminals (BOTH of them) and there are two star bolts on the side of the column holding the airbag on. I didn't have a star driver, so I used a wide flat-head screw driver, which worked great.

Once you get the bolts out, just pull the cover away from the wheel and disconnect the two metal harnesses. Then take the new air bag and connect the two harnesses from the air bag to the steering wheel and screw both bolts back on.

The last step is to just reconnect your battery and you're done.

FYI, if you don't disconnect both terminals on the battery, when you're done the airbag light will be on. I had to disconnect the battery and airbag again, then reconnect the battery terminals when I found this out. The airbag light stays off after I reconnected everything.

I was also curious about this. I ordered the SRS Airbag last week and lined up someone to install it for me for $50 bucks but if it can be done by myself then I'll go that route. The only thing I'm concerned with is the bag not working when needed. Is it really that plug and play?

How are the metal terminals connected? Male and female setup?

That would be a MAJOR concern of mine! Looks nice and cool, but what if?

Double checking here: Does the entire steering wheel have to come off to put on the new airbag? According to the installation documentation it does, or that is for something different?

I was gong to have the dealership put mine in ($40), but then decided to save the trip and money/time to do it myself.

Folks:D The only way for the airbag to deploy is if there is power going to it. So if, you eliminate that option by disconnecting the battery, there is no issue.

2nd, if you are worried that the airbag would not deploy in an accident, DON'T. Your car has the idiot light/airbag light to let you know that there is a malfunction to the airbag. Yes the connection's to the airbag are red and black. Plugging the airbag in correctly only takes about a 3rd grade education:)

3rd.....it's an OEM airbag, the only difference is the emblem.

Also, I was feeling the same way some of you guys are about the install before I did it. I was nervous and scared. Once Moe told me how to do it, I realized that the instal is very simple and safe. I think back now after I did mine long ago, and I kinda laugh about it, since the job is only 2 bolts, 2 connectors, and 2 battery terminals to do the whole job.

I did mine as well. It took me longer to get the correct size Torx bit and figure out how to unlock the electrical connections than anything else. The first one took 20 minutes, but if I had to do it again it would be only 10 minutes.
The biggest "trick" to know is that you need to unlock the red and black connectors. This is done by taking a tiny standard screwdriver and sliding the latch back, then the electrical connections lift right off. Pretty simple.
This is really an easy job that anyone can tackle.

Good tip:) I did the same tactic using a tiny standard screwdriver to slide the latch back. Nice work:D

Ash, the steering wheel does not need to be removed for any reason.

Hey guys, thanks so much for all of the help with the airbag cover. I think I'll bite the bullet and do it. Back to the V8 18" wheel emblems: has anyone found a source other than KAW and KAI?

Just picked up my 2010 Genesis 4.6 will all badging except wheels. Dealer states the '09 wheel badging will not fit the 2010. Comments?

Did the wheels change for 2010?

There are two types of center caps going around. From what I understand, you can buy ones that fit perfectly to the V8 model but they cost like $250, or you can purchase an alternative that only cost about $50 but don't line up correctly. If you search this forum someone posted pictures of both. I went for the $50 version and don't mind it. Although I can understand why it would bother some people.

I think at least one person bought the V6 18" caps that are less pricey and manually swapped the center caps onto their 18" V8 wheel caps.

I was just looking at KoreanAutoWorld's website and saw V8-18" Wheels center caps, they look just like the wheels on my 2010 4.6. wondering if they are the new ones ($198.00). Will the 2009 Airbag work in the 2010? I imagine it will, but just wondering.
